chapter 128 part 1
Chapter 128: Thor: "Hammer, say something!"
In the square, tourists laughed and chatted, eagerly holding their phones or cameras, searching for the best angles to capture beautiful moments of this bustling city.
Couples sweetly snuggled together for selfies, and children excitedly ran around.
"Tu-tu-le, tu-tu-le, tu-tu-le."
New immigrants selling small trinkets, as well as shady street vendors hawking various luxury goods at dirt-cheap prices, also formed a vibrant part of the scenery here.
Just then!
"Boom!" A deafening roar shattered the joyful atmosphere.
People were startled by the sudden explosion, nearly dropping the cameras and phones in their hands.
They instinctively turned their heads, looking towards the source of the sound.
In the distance, thick smoke billowed from the direction of the Stark Industries building, flames reaching skyward. Especially from the building's rooftop, explosive fire and shockwaves continuously expanded outwards.
People shrieked in terror, fleeing in all directions. The once orderly square instantly plunged into chaos.
On the rooftop, Thor's mind was rattled by the sudden explosion.
Thor would never have imagined that the Destroyer, forged by his father Odin from Uru metal – the same material as Mjolnir – and used to conquer the Nine Realms, would be dispatched here to hunt him down.
"Don't just stand there! Run!"
Stephen Fang pulled Thor from the rubble, trying to get them airborne.
The next second! A flash of insight struck Stephen Fang. He flung Thor away, while simultaneously quickly forming a hand seal for a Substitution Jutsu!
"Whoosh~"
A laser beam struck the exact spot where they had just been! The half-meter wide beam pierced through the rooftop floor, revealing the swimming pool in the lounge below.
Stephen Fang struggled to his feet. "Loki, that bastard, truly wants you dead! He's just making too much of a commotion; people who didn't know any better would think he's putting on a show."
Thor felt a bit bewildered. "You, what did you say? Loki?"
"What else? Your father Odin is merely disappointed in you, not holding a deep grudge. Besides Loki, who else in Asgard could drive this thing now?!"
Thor dared not think further. He was just an ordinary man now, stripped of his divine power. The Destroyer, a weapon capable of slaughtering the Nine Realms, could easily kill not only Thor, but even that black man sitting in his dark room.
If Loki truly wanted him dead...
Then he was basically dead for sure.
Thor, familiar with the Destroyer, lost all thoughts of escape. The Destroyer's laser was about to strike him.
In the nick of time, a water dragon struck the Destroyer, making it stumble. The laser grazed Thor and sliced off a large chunk of the rooftop, which plummeted towards the ground.
"Don't just stand there stunned!"
Stephen Fang's Water Grudge Fear creature, perched on his shoulder, took advantage of the Destroyer's unstable footing and immediately fired a water blast.
The Destroyer's high body temperature evaporated the water vapor on its surface. This water blast, powerful enough to kill Black Widow, merely caused its massive body to slightly tremble.
"Thor! Snap out of it! My Immortal Magic! Are you willing to see Loki destroy Asgard?! He'll tear down Odin's statues and build a palace for himself!"
Loki, it seemed, was truly capable of such a feat.
Thor grew angrier the more he thought about it, finally shaking off his despondency and running towards the Destroyer.
"Loki! I know you can hear me! If you want to kill me, then come on!"
Hearing this, Stephen Fang no longer hesitated. With his wings at full power, he scooped up Thor and flew off the rooftop!
"Let, let me go! Loki wouldn't kill me!"
Thor struggled, still clinging to hope for his brother of over a thousand years, believing he wouldn't truly kill him.
But the truth was, in the movie, it was a sleeping Odin who broke free from his Odinsleep, bestowed his divine power upon Thor, and turned him back into the God of Thunder. That was how Thor survived getting slapped aside by the Destroyer.
Stephen Fang didn't dare gamble on whether Odin would wake up at this moment.
If Thor died here, then first, Immortal Magic would be out of the question, and the subsequent New York and Thanos crises would be missing their most crucial powerhouse.
By then, with half the universe's life disappearing, Stephen Fang had no confidence he'd be among the living half.
Since regaining his memories, Pirate Ren Arakawa, Main God Space Ren Arakawa, and Naruto World Ren Arakawa have all contributed abilities from their respective worlds.
If he died, the Immortal Mage System that Main God Ren Arakawa exchanged for would be half-useless!
Making no contribution and only causing trouble?
Fortunately, this Destroyer was the weakened one from the movie. If it were the Destroyer capable of punching a star to smithereens...
Thinking of this, Stephen Fang freed a hand, pulled out his phone, and handed it to Thor. "Call the number saved in my contacts as 'Durant's Foot Bath Water'!"
Though Thor was perplexed, being desperately rescued at this moment, he stopped acting like a spoiled 1,500-year-old prince and hastily made the call.
The call was answered almost instantly, and Black Widow's anxious voice came through: "Fang! What's chasing you?!"
Stephen Fang wheeled around, spitting a Great Fireball at the pursuing Destroyer, and replied in a rush: "Odin's enforcer! The great weapon that conquered the Nine Realms!"
"Odin? Nine Realms? Are you talking about Odin, the King of the Gods from ancient Norse Mythology?"
Black Widow and Nick Fury beside her were dumbfounded. How were mythological figures appearing now?
Nick Fury wasn't bothered by Stephen Fang's previous jailbreak incident; he snatched the phone directly and anxiously demanded, "What does Odin have to do with this?! Why is that thing chasing you?!"
"I don't have time to explain all this to you! If you don't intervene, it could tear New York apart!" As Stephen Fang said this, a massive fan-shaped blaze appeared in the sky!
"Blazing Wind Dance!"
Stephen Fang's furious roar came through the phone. Nick Fury and Black Widow watched the "magic" Stephen Fang unleashed in the sky, and their hearts sank!
So, that kid was actually holding back earlier?
If he had directly launched such fiery "magic" attacks back then, how many S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in New Mexico would have survived?
Black Widow also felt a lingering fear. She never imagined that the person she had once shared a hotel room with possessed such terrifying abilities!
"What are you waiting for?! Nick Fury! Unleash your ace! Hurry!! Hurry!"
Nick Fury stared wide-eyed, completely perplexed. How did Stephen Fang know he had an 'ace'?
The moment he heard this, Nick Fury's first thought wasn't to reach for the cosmic pager.
It was to thoroughly investigate the mole within S.H.I.E.L.D.!
Who exactly leaked the information?
"Director!" Black Widow reminded the stunned Nick Fury, "If we don't do something soon, this disaster will be even worse than the one in September many years ago!"
"Alright, alright!" Nick Fury no longer hesitated. But instead of grabbing the pager Captain Marvel gave him, he pulled out his phone and dialed a secret number.
After a moment, the call was answered.
Nick Fury took a deep breath: "General Ross! Your super soldier needs to be deployed early!"
Manhattan's devastation made one wonder if this was truly Manhattan, or one of their bombed oil rigs.
Loki, controlling the Destroyer, focused solely on killing Stephen Fang and Thor, recklessly firing beams. In just twenty minutes, Beihai Street, People's Hospital, the Normal University Affiliated Primary School, and Yida Park were all covered in rubble and shattered tiles.
Stephen Fang and Thor darted between buildings using their wings, the Destroyer relentlessly pursuing them. The situation was at a stalemate.
"This isn't working!" Thor clung tightly to Stephen Fang's waist, terrified of falling.
"Then what do you suggest we do?! Wait for Loki to show mercy and let us go, or wait for Odin to awaken?"
Thor gritted his back teeth, feeling for the first time just how detestable his brother was.
Just as Thor felt despair and was about to be caught by the Destroyer, a familiar engine roar suddenly echoed from the sky!
Both looked up!
Iron Man Tony Stark, clad in his red and gold armor, sped through the air like a crimson meteor.
Iron Man stopped, quickly adjusting his posture. The energy cannons in his palms flared, and then, two blinding energy beams roared towards the Destroyer!
