Chapter 3 - chapter 3

8 Years Timescape.

In the Konoha training ground, there was a boy.

The boy was not very old—just 8 years old—wearing a white kimono with the Uchiha clan emblem and ancient eye shadow painted around his eyes with black oil paint. His usually gentle little face now held a trace of coldness. The 3-tomoe Sharingan, which he always kept open, had a mysterious charm to it. He was Indra Uchiha, the protagonist of this novel.

Last year, he started his ninja training. At only the age of seven, he had already learned all the ninjutsu and genjutsu scrolls left in the Uchiha clan library. His mother and sister were shocked by his talent and praised him as the future number-one genius of Konoha — but honestly, he couldn't care less about those things.

A year ago, he also awakened his Sharingan — it had two tomoe. He awakened it by recalling how he died in his previous life, using genjutsu to relive that feeling. Sakura was shocked to see how quickly Indra awakened his Sharingan and marveled at his talent. Sarada looked at her elder brother with envy; although she didn't fully understand what it was, she still thought it looked cool.

It only took half a month for Indra's Sharingan to evolve into its mature form — the three-tomoe Sharingan. Because he was Indra's reincarnation, even if he kept it open all the time, it barely consumed any chakra. The difference was so small it was almost negligible.

He guessed that the reason most Uchiha struggled to keep their Sharingan active was that their bloodline had degenerated over time. As far as he remembered, only Madara kept his Sharingan open permanently — and he was practically Indra's reincarnation, just like him.

The main goal now was to get stronger quickly. The world of Boruto was extremely dangerous, filled with aliens, Karma seals, and threats beyond comprehension.

Indra considered himself lucky to be born with Indra's body — his talent was monstrous. It had only taken him half a year to master all the scrolls left in the Uchiha library. Even though most were only C to B-rank ninjutsu and genjutsu, the Uchiha Clan surely once possessed many A and S-rank techniques.

He had a guess about where those scrolls had gone — it must have been the work of that disgusting old "blame King," Danzō Shimura, and his hypocritical friend, the Third Hokage. Glad those two idiots are gone, he thought, no need to remember them anymore.

Indra gathered a large amount of lightning chakra in his right hand, trying to compress it. After a few moments, the sound of a thousand birds filled the air.

"Great… I've recreated the Chidori," he said with satisfaction. "With my past life's memories and talent, I was able to restore this jutsu perfectly."

He prepared to test it. In an instant, Indra sprinted toward the boulder ahead, lightning trailing behind him. His Sharingan locked onto the target as he thrust his Chidori forward, shattering the massive rock into pieces. He jumped back, admiring the results.

"Amazing penetration power… and massive damage potential. This is the perfect technique for me," he thought. "I should refine it further — maybe even develop the Lightning Style Chakra Mode. That would definitely come in handy."

Just as Indra was thinking, he suddenly sensed someone behind him. He turned and saw a girl with short, dark-blue hair and straight bangs. Her hair flared slightly at the sides, with a little ahoge sticking up like the stem of a leaf. She had pale skin, blue eyes, and three small whisker marks on each cheek. She wore a light yellow jacket over a blue undershirt, a pink skirt, and black stockings.

"Wow! Did you just use that powerful ninjutsu?" she exclaimed, eyes sparkling. "That was amazing — you destroyed that giant rock with a single blow!"

Indra looked at her silently. Isn't she… Himawari Uzumaki? The daughter of Naruto Uzumaki and the sister of Boruto?

Himawari noticed him staring quietly with his three-tomoe Sharingan. She couldn't look away — her heart skipped a beat. He's so handsome… she thought.

After a short silence, Indra finally spoke.

"So… who are you?"

Although he already knew, he didn't want to act suspicious.

Himawari snapped out of her trance, blushing furiously. "S-sorry! My name is Himawari Uzumaki. Nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you. I'm Uchiha Indra," he replied calmly.

"Uchiha?? Wait — do you know Sasuke Uchiha?" she asked curiously.

"He's my father," Indra said. "I guess your father is Naruto Uzumaki, right?"

"Well, yeah!" she said, smiling brightly. "I didn't expect your dad and mine to be best friends. Why don't we become friends too?"

"Okay, I guess," Indra replied with a small shrug.

Ten minutes later, the two were sitting beneath a tree, chatting.

"So why did you come to the training ground, Uzumaki-san?" Indra asked.

Inside, though, he was wondering: Why is she the same age as me? So that god was right — some things really are different in this timeline.

"You don't have to be so formal," Himawari said with a smile. "Now that we're friends, just call me Himawari!"

"Very well then. You can call me Indra," he said with a small, confident smile.

Himawari's smile widened. "Okay, Indra-kun! As for your question…"

"Well, I was bored at home, so I went for a walk. When I passed by the training ground, I heard the sound of a thousand birds chirping. Out of curiosity, I came to check it out — and saw you training. Sorry if I disturbed you."

"No need to apologize," Indra replied. "You were just curious. I don't mind."

Himawari tilted her head. "But, Indra-kun, why are you training so hard?"

"That's an interesting question," Indra said, his eyes firm. "But my answer is simple — I want to be the strongest shinobi in the world, and protect the people I love. That's my motivation."

"Wow… that's an amazing goal," Himawari said softly, admiration in her eyes. "You're incredible, Indra-kun. Unlike you, I don't really have any goal…" she added sadly.

Seeing her expression, Indra tried to cheer her up.

"Why don't you become a strong kunoichi — someone who can protect her loved ones? You have a lot of potential. With training, I'm sure you could become one of the strongest shinobi out there."

"Really, Indra-kun?! Thank you! I'll work hard to achieve that!" Himawari said with a bright smile.

"By the way, Indra-kun… can I train with you?" she asked shyly, her eyes pleading.

Indra looked at her and couldn't bring himself to refuse.

"Sure. Having a sparring partner will help me too."

"Really? Thank you, Indra-kun!" Himawari said, beaming.

Watching her enthusiasm, Indra smiled softly. Maybe… having a friend isn't so bad after all.

To be continued.
