"Miss Marjorie, got any interesting new stock lately?"
The owner of the Souvenir Shop, With Wind Comes Glory, was called Marjorie—a girl in her early twenties.
Lisa seemed to have a pretty good relationship with her.
She didn't walk in and immediately press Marjorie to return the book.
That was only natural. People who do everything by the book often end up shooting themselves in the foot instead.
So sometimes, you need to be a little more flexible when dealing with things.
Rowan didn't say anything. He just wandered lazily around the shop, letting Lisa talk with Marjorie.
He was only here to keep Lisa company, after all.
"Lisa, what kind of souvenir are you looking for?"
"Is it something that matches Lord Knight-King?"
Marjorie smiled politely at first, then sneaked a gossiping glance at Rowan browsing the shelves, and leaned close to Lisa's ear with a quiet giggle.
"Mm, you could say that."
"It's such an important day—of course I have to buy a souvenir."
Lisa wasn't in a hurry to push Marjorie about the overdue book anyway. In any case, Rowan wasn't getting away from her clutches today.
"In that case, why not let Lord Knight-King choose?"
"Whatever he likes can't be wrong, right?"
Marjorie gestured for Lisa not to rush and suggested letting Rowan pick something himself instead.
That way, no matter what they ended up with, it would be based on his preferences, so it couldn't go too far wrong.
"That's not a bad idea. Little cutie, come here."
When Lisa called out Rowan's codename, "little cutie," Marjorie almost burst out laughing.
It wasn't mockery—it was just that hearing the exalted Knight-King being called "little cutie" sounded unintentionally funny.
But she also knew she absolutely couldn't laugh out loud. That would be incredibly disrespectful.
Mondstadt folks were indeed a bit too free-spirited in some ways… but most of them were still quite normal.
"What's up?"
"Got it settled already?"
Rowan came over, confused, thinking Lisa had finished what she came here to do.
"It's like this—I want to buy a souvenir and I'd like you to pick one out for me. How about it?"
"As a reward, I'll pick a souvenir for you too."
Lisa naturally slipped her arm through Rowan's, acting more at ease than Istaroth, the official queen, ever did.
The sight made Marjorie so excited she could hardly stand still.
So their esteemed Knight-King was quite the romantic, huh?
He already had a proper queen at home, and yet things with Lisa were… not exactly clear-cut.
Tsk, tsk!
Rowan thought for a moment, then nodded.
"Alright. I'll see what suits you."
"Mm."
Five minutes later, Rowan came back holding an ancient-looking scroll and handed it to Lisa, who had long since finished choosing her gift.
"This should be something the Adventurers found in some ruin. It probably has something to do with mages."
"Take a look."
When Marjorie saw the scroll, she nodded in praise.
"Lord Knight-King has excellent taste. This was discovered by the Adventurers' Guild in a certain ancient ruin. The text on it is unreadable, but it's estimated to be about a thousand years old. It really does have great research value."
Lisa accepted the scroll and examined it carefully, then her face lit up in surprise.
"Ah, this is the missing third volume of Northern Wind Flow Studies?"
"I never thought it would be here!"
"I didn't expect my little cutie to have such a good eye. This is perfect material for studying how humans in ancient times understood elemental power. I'll gladly accept it."
Then Lisa walked up to Rowan and lifted her hand, pinning the item she'd chosen onto his chest.
"This is the souvenir I carefully picked out for you. It's made from a feather of the East Wind Dragon."
"See if you like it."
Rowan lowered his head and saw that Lisa had given him an exquisite badge.
The crest of Mondstadt was engraved on its surface.
"Looks great."
"Thanks."
Mutual gift-giving was the key to keeping a relationship going for a long time.
There are some women who want to gain love without ever giving anything in return—truly shameless.
After exchanging gifts and settling the bill, Lisa turned to Marjorie.
"It's about time. Then, Miss Marjorie, please return Legend of Vanessa—"
Before Lisa could finish, she was cut off by an overly excited Marjorie.
"So Lisa also admires Lady Vanessa—no wonder!"
"We've still got lots of highly recommended souvenirs here…"
"For example, this fang pendant engraved with Vanessa's name, and this knight's medal that was once bestowed by Lady Vanessa…"
When Marjorie interrupted Lisa, Rowan sensed a faint disturbance of Electro elements in the air.
It was obvious Lisa was starting to get impatient.
She really didn't like people cutting her off mid-sentence.
As for the trinkets Marjorie was recommending, they were indeed quite good.
Rowan planned to buy a few and bring them back as gifts for Jean.
In all of Mondstadt, if anyone could be said to revere Vanessa the most, it would definitely be former Acting Grand Master Jean.
And Rowan had a vague feeling that the person he had once forcibly "recharged" with his power back then was very likely Jean.
Because when he woke up, he'd noticed documents left on the table—obviously sent by Jean.
Combined with how strangely Jean had been acting around him in that period, it was pretty suspicious.
So he decided to buy a few Vanessa-themed souvenirs and use them later to test her reaction.
Back to the matter at hand.
"That's not what I meant."
Seeing that Marjorie clearly had no idea what she was actually talking about and looked like she could ramble on forever, Lisa simply cut her off.
"I'm talking about the book you borrowed!"
"Miss Marjorie, don't tell me you've forgotten you borrowed that book?"
Marjorie froze for a moment, then finally realized what Lisa meant and hurriedly apologized.
"Ah, sorry, sorry."
"Whenever I start talking about Lady Vanessa, I get a little carried away."
It was obvious that, just like Jean, Marjorie was a diehard fan of Vanessa.
"I'm really sorry, Lisa. I totally forgot this book was overdue—I've been carrying it with me all this time. That's my fault."
"I'll hand it back to you right now. Honestly, the moment I saw you, I should have remembered."
"Hehe… here."
Seeing that Marjorie returned the book so straightforwardly, Lisa decided not to press the matter further.
"Since you admire Lady Vanessa so much… I'll let it slide this time. But if you do this again, I won't be so polite."
"Oh, of course, no problem, Lisa!"
Marjorie nodded frantically in agreement.
The last thing she wanted was to get on Lisa's bad side. The Rose Witch was not someone you wanted to provoke.
"Then let's go, little cutie. We've still got the next shop to visit."
Lisa tucked the book away and was about to turn and leave.
Seeing this, Rowan quickly stepped forward and bought all the Vanessa-themed trinkets Marjorie had recommended earlier.
"Hold on a moment. I'll just grab a few more things."
