Cherreads

Chapter 65 - Chapter 65

"In that case, you've come to the wrong person for that kind of book."

"My dear Knight King, you should know records like that only exist in the private collections of the three great clans."

Lisa smiled charmingly as she replied.

Then she looked at Rowan with narrowed, teasing eyes and took a few slow, deliberate steps forward.

"Or is it that you didn't come here just to read, my Knight King—but to see me?"

"You're overthinking it. I really did just come here to read for a bit."

Rowan calmly took a small step back, putting a safe distance between himself and Lisa.

He did like women as stunning as Lisa, but that didn't mean he was some scumbag.

Men naturally appreciate beautiful things.

But now that he had Istaroth, and that unknown woman bound to his destiny, he had no intention of tangling himself up with even more women.

At least for now, that was how Rowan saw things.

As for the future… he would just let things play out naturally.

Faced with Lisa's constant flirting, all he could do was retreat.

Yet that one small step back left Lisa with a strange sense of defeat.

Was she not beautiful?

Why would Rowan back away from her teasing and initiative?

You're seriously stepping back from me? Really?

"In that case, I won't bother you any further."

"Please, make yourself at home."

Lisa's expression cooled as she turned away, heading back to her private desk where she promptly yawned and settled down for a nap.

Her position was relatively relaxed; most of the time, when there wasn't anything to do, she used sleep to pass the time.

Of course, she was also using sleep to stave off her physical problems.

Lisa's body had certain issues, and only by keeping up sufficient sleep could she counteract the side effects.

This was different from Layla, who looked perpetually groggy simply because she never got enough sleep.

After Lisa left, Rowan didn't say anything. He simply continued searching for books that interested him and sat down in a quiet corner to read.

An hour later, Rowan closed the book in his hands and stood up to return it to the shelves.

The moment he rose, he felt something soft and springy bump into his back.

A sharp cry sounded behind him.

"Ah—!"

"What are you doing!"

Rowan turned around. At some point, Lisa had appeared behind him.

She was standing there, smiling with half-lidded eyes, not even slightly embarrassed about being bumped into like that.

Even after the collision, she didn't say anything about "proper distance between men and women."

Instead, her generous chest was still pressed tightly against his back.

Noticing Rowan's gaze, Lisa took a single step back.

But before he could even ask what she wanted, the very next second—

Lisa leaned in again on her own, hugging Rowan's arm.

She moved up to his ear and whispered softly.

"Our Knight King really does read seriously, doesn't he?"

"I was watching you from over there the whole time, and you never even looked my way. So cold and heartless."

"But that just makes me like you even more."

Her words and tone were so dripping with "tea-flavored" sweetness that Rowan started to doubt whether this was really Lisa, the famed "Witch of Roses"—

Or some transmigrated green-tea drama queen.

Her tea art was a little too strong.

Rowan merely gave Lisa a cool look and said nothing.

"Alright, alright, I'll stop acting."

"Honestly, I just wanted to ask you to come out with me for a bit."

Seeing that Rowan remained unmoved, Lisa dropped the act and laid her cards on the table.

"Some people borrowed books and have long overstayed their due dates without returning them."

"As the librarian, I have to go track them down and take the books back."

"So, my dear Knight King, do you have time to accompany me?"

"For a mage, not getting enough sleep will make her skin all dry and rough."

"Does my king really have the heart to watch me wither away and lose my charm?"

Lisa clung to Rowan's arm, looking up at him pitifully.

It left Rowan with almost no excuse to refuse—especially with those two massive "evils" pressed against him being so… distractingly comfortable.

Istaroth was also soft and fragrant, but her greatest flaw was that she was a little too… flat.

There was simply no sense of womanly curves to speak of.

Lisa, on the other hand, was more than "well-equipped" in that department—she was practically overflowing.

Just from Rowan's visual estimate, Lisa was the most well-endowed woman in all of Mondstadt.

Next came Jean and Rosaria, who were about tied.

Lastly was Eula.

Of course, this list was only for those who qualified for the "big" category. The "small" category didn't even get to appear on the rankings.

Back when Jean hadn't been "nerfed," she had been an absolute ruler in terms of figure. Rosaria could deeply relate to this fact.

Nowadays, both of them had been toned down.

So in the face of Lisa's pleading, Rowan could only sigh and agree in the end.

"Alright then. I'll go with you."

"You really are such a considerate little cutie. Let me see… our first stop is…"

Lisa happily took out a small notebook and looked up the first "victim."

"With Wind Comes Glory!"

"Come on, my king—let's head to the souvenir shop."

With Wind Comes Glory, the souvenir shop, was where you could exchange Anemo Sigils for various rewards in the game.

In the real Mondstadt, it was a place that sold souvenirs and specialty items:

For example, Mondstadt-style Windwings, Anemo Archon figurines, Knights of Favonius accessories, and all sorts of little trinkets.

A short while later, Lisa marched right up to the shop, still clinging comfortably to Rowan's arm as they arrived.

Along the way, quite a few people glanced at the pair in surprise—especially those who knew who Lisa and Rowan were.

When did the Knight King and the librarian get this close?

The Knights of Favonius on patrol, however, were not surprised at all.

The Witch of Roses loved to pull pranks and tease people; there wasn't a single person in the entire Knights of Favonius who hadn't fallen victim to her mischief at least once.

In their eyes, Lisa was probably just at it again.

The only difference this time was that her target wasn't a random knight—

It was their Knight King, Rowan.

Those who secretly had feelings for Rowan, on the other hand, were not taking this scene so calmly.

Jean was one of them.

Under Frederica's careful nudging, she had already acknowledged that she liked Rowan.

So seeing her best friend walking so intimately with him now, she naturally felt unhappy.

There was someone else who wasn't pleased either—the vice-captain of the Knights of Favonius, Eula.

No one was more grateful to Rowan than she was.

Not only had Rowan helped her shake off the label of "descendant of sinners," he'd also cleared the Lawrence family's name.

The fact that she could now serve as vice-captain of the Knights of Favonius was entirely thanks to Rowan.

As a Lawrence who knew how to repay kindness, Eula wanted to offer him her most precious treasure in return.

She just hadn't had time to take action yet—so why was Lisa already glued to his side?

What exactly are you doing, Lisa?

"Alright, little cutie, this is the place. Shall we begin?"

Feeling that calling him "my king" or "Knight King" was a bit too formal, Lisa couldn't be bothered to change to something else fancy. She simply stuck to calling Rowan "little cutie."

Rowan didn't bother correcting her choice of nickname. He just nodded and walked into With Wind Comes Glory with her.

"Welcome to With Wind Comes Glory. Is there anything you're looking for?"

"Oh, it's Miss Lisa and the Knight King. What can I get for you today?"
