Chapter 24 – The Aftermath
Kiran and his companions emerged from the hideout, their eyes scanning the surrounding area for any signs of danger. The night was quiet, the only sound being the distant hum of the city.
As they made their way through the streets, Kiran's mind was reeling with thoughts of Kaelara's betrayal. He couldn't believe he had trusted her, and he knew he had to be more careful in the future.
The group's destination was a safe house on the outskirts of the city, a place where they could regroup and plan their next move. As they walked, Lyra filled them in on the plan.
"We'll lay low for a while, gather our strength and resources," she said. "Then, we'll start planning our next attack on the Syndicate."
Kiran nodded, his determination renewed. "I'm ready to take them down," he said. "I won't let them get away with what they've done."
Orin clapped him on the back. "We're with you, Kiran. We'll take them down together."
As they approached the safe house, Kiran noticed something was off. The windows were dark, and the door was slightly ajar.
"Wait," he whispered, his instincts on high alert. "Something's not right."
Lyra drew her sword, her eyes scanning the surrounding area. "Let's be careful," she said.
Kiran nodded, his fire burning brightly as they crept towards the safe house. As they entered, they were met with an eerie silence.
The safe house had been compromised.
