Chapter 284 - Chapter 283: Future, Little Things, Something's Off

A little pleasant incident occurred.

The two of them were still strolling hand in hand, Mira's charming blush slowly fading from her face.

Now she was in a good mood, hugging Rhode's arm tightly to her chest.

This time they were more in sync than the last, and the experience was better, but it still made their hearts race.

Humph, what consequences, it's just an excuse to take advantage.

Not really, I'm the one taking advantage.

She glanced at Rhode, who seemed just as happy as she was.

Then it wasn't taking advantage, was it?

Speaking of which, Rhode was so cute when he was jealous for her today, she liked it.

Rhode was not only happy about the recent intimacy but was also enjoying the current touch.

He could feel his arm being pressed against something soft.

Speaking of which, Mira used to be so mindful about holding hands, but now she seems much less sensitive about this kind of contact, which Rhode found more intimate and a bit puzzling.

Anyway, it felt comfortable, and that was what mattered.

Rhode pulled out his hand, took a quick stride forward, and turned around to block Mira in front, letting her bump into his arms before hugging her tightly.

Mira looked up at him: "What's up with you, doing this all of a sudden?"

Rhode kissed her forehead: "Nothing, just suddenly wanted to hug you again."

Did he want to tell her that he was happy because she introduced him to the Pegasus Trio earlier?

That would be too much like being coy.

...

"That's about it, the rat-clearing work is almost done, the fields are full of dead rats now, so remember to organize a team to deal with that tomorrow."

"Just in case, we'll stay an extra day until you are sure the task is completed before we leave."

The last sentence was said by Mira, which was also Rhode's intention.

He also planned to let the Shadow Wolf and Stone Beetle out for some work, catching as many as they could would be worth it.

Jasper said sincerely: "Thank you very much! Thank you two for saving our entire village!"

Mira smiled and said: "This is what being a mage is all about."

Ordinary people provide payment, and mages use magic to solve problems for them.

This is a way of interaction that naturally developed over more than a hundred years since the guilds appeared.

Mages and ordinary people are mostly satisfied with this relationship, so mages are unwilling to give up tasks easily, and ordinary people are reluctant to delay payments casually.

The current mainstream idea is that everyone is striving to live, so they support each other and take what they need, working hard to improve each other's lives while also improving their own.

After the two returned to their room to rest, Jasper's wife sat down with her husband to discuss things.

"Isn't our payment too low? I inquired a bit, and these two are very powerful mages who often appear in Wizard Weekly."

"I know. Even without mentioning their reputation, you can tell just by looking at their magic that they're very strong," Jasper sighed, "but the remuneration is already set, and the situation in the village..."

"At least let's find a way to show our gratitude; those rat ashes will save a lot of money on fertilizer."

"I'll think about it, let me think about it some more."

...

"What do you want to do?"

"Help you with your back scrub."

Mira was in the bathroom, Rhode outside, the bathroom door half open and half closed.

Facing Rhode's enthusiasm, Mira gave him a professional fake smile: "No, need."

Rhode reached out to stop her from closing the door, speaking with a look of pain:

"Sigh, do you know how important trust is between people, especially between lovers? With this kind of trust, we can reduce suspicion and misunderstanding, allowing for more honest communication. In this way, we can build a deeper and more stable relationship..."

This guy, here he goes again. Mira found it amusing inside but remained completely impassive on the outside: "Get to the point."

"The point is, even if you don't want to shower together with me, at least invite me, let me feel your trust. At most, I can just refuse."

"Oh?" Mira asked with interest, "So Rhode, would you like to shower with me?"

Rhode rubbed his hands, his smile rippling like water after a stone was thrown in, and he said in an exaggerated tone:

"It's~ hard~ to~ refuse~ such~ a~ gracious~ offer!"

Bam! The bathroom door closed, almost hitting Rhode's nose.

Looks like he still couldn't get in; if only Mira were as carefree in this regard as Erza...

Thinking of Erza's appearance, Rhode shook his head, it's still fine as it is now.

Rhode decided not to summon Warm today and to take the time while Mira was showering to meditate a bit.

Rhode had already seen the yellow markings on the Little Dragon Pit's mountain wall, and if he remembered correctly, that should be the sign of the Mountain Sub-Dragon.

With a little more accumulation of magic power, he might soon attempt a summoning.

But definitely not within town.

Time during training always flies by quickly; after a blink, Mira was done showering and returned.

After Rhode also took a shower, he took over the task of blow-drying her hair.

This time, Rhode was much more skilled, methodically helping Mira dry her hair bit by bit.

After completing this, he gently stroked her smooth white hair: "I think we did it in the wrong order, I should shower first, then I can help you from the beginning."

Mira watched him through the mirror, her gaze gentle as water: "Okay."

She wanted to spend every day like this with him.

"Your turn now." Mira got up and let Rhode sit down, she thought for a moment, "It seems like I should blow your hair first too."

"Maybe, but that way you'd just be uncomfortable for a bit longer."

"It's not that uncomfortable."

The two of them chatted on for a while, and then they realized they were seriously discussing such a trivial matter.

Rhode and Mira looked at each other, unable to hold back their laughter.

She (he) was already thinking about what their future life would be like, even if it was just this kind of inconspicuous little thing.

The two cuddled together for quite a while before preparing to go to bed.

"Where's Warm?"

Rhode lied with his eyes open: "It was scared during the day, it won't come back here before returning to the guild. Just sleep like this, I promise I won't do anything to you."

"The trust between people is gone."

Mira rolled her eyes at him; it seemed like he had a habit of hugging something while asleep, she didn't believe nothing would happen.

After looking around, Mira finally lifted up her suitcase.

"Don't put that there, I'd rather call Warm."

The suitcase was hard, and Rhode didn't want to wake up feeling sore.

"Humph~ wasn't it scared?"

"It's not scared now."

Once Warm, the wall between them, appeared, Rhode laid back down, and Mira reached out to Rhode.

Rhode held her small hand to his lips: "Forget that magic, give me a goodnight kiss."

"Okay." Mira showed a sweet smile, tidying her hair before leaning in to kiss him.

When Mira lay back down, Rhode felt something was off the more he thought about it.

Finally, he sat up, leaned over Warm, and bent down to kiss Mira.
