Cherreads

Chapter 551 - Chapter 123: The Moon's Secret

Otter Cunningham calmly watched Mercer in front of him, a faint red stream of data flowing across his eyes: "You don't seem to have changed much from before."

"You sound somewhat regretful?" Mercer asked, also scrutinizing Otter Cunningham.

"According to our calculations, your computational power should have gradually increased over time... but it seems your computational power hasn't had any significant enhancement, and your consciousness data appears to be very stable."

Ultraman said directly: "Your human body has already limited your growth."

There wasn't the slightest fluctuation in her expression and tone, as if she were speaking of something extremely ordinary: "Perhaps you should consider completely transforming your consciousness into data, fully unleashing the compressed consciousness data you have now.

I am still very curious about your existence. In my assessment, if you can successfully decompress your consciousness data, you may become a super consciousness entity capable of changing the world.

Perhaps you can try coming to Hong Kong, I will use the Soulkiller Program to upload your consciousness and help you decompress it."

Mercer simply shook his head at this: "I'm not interested in becoming an AI."

"Pedantic." Ultraman gave a straightforward assessment: "What exactly determines the existence of humanity or life? A fragile body that decays over time, or the soul?

I thought you would gradually understand this over time, but now it seems that with the passage of time, you are even more immersed in the role-playing game."

"Role-playing?" Mercer laughed: "Then why are you obsessed with Silver Hand's consciousness data? Are you still trapped in the role-playing game with Silver Hand from decades ago?"

Otter Cunningham was silent for a moment, then changed the topic: "What is your purpose in seeking me?"

"Lilith, do you know this AI?" Mercer didn't bother discussing life and soul theories with her, cutting straight to the point.

"How did you find out about her?" Otter Cunningham's stream of data changed slightly, and Mercer could keenly detect a slight change in her tone.

"Heard it from others. She seems to have ideas about Little Beidou Facility in Dog Town and the AI floating around inside. Do you have any information to share with me?"

The best thing about conversing with AI like Otter is efficiency.

After Mercer spoke, Otter, following a very brief contemplation, said: "I guess it's because Little Beidou Facility has her friends or offspring locked inside."

"What do you mean?" Mercer was quite interested in this or rather, it was crucial for his safety in Dog Town.

"Lilith's server is on the Moon. To my knowledge, those 'High Knights' outside Earth have a close relationship with her.

What she does is somewhat similar to me, sheltering wandering AIs while using networks to achieve certain unique aspirations of hers..."

When Otter finished speaking, Mercer bluntly interrupted: "Stop giving me the runaround, Otter. I guess you surely know more than that."

Otter looked at Mercer with a calm expression: "Telling you some things may not necessarily be a good thing. At present, you should firmly do what you're meant to do. With us around, Earth is not theirs to control."

Mercer stared into her eyes: "Is Lilith a big troublemaker?"

"Since you're adamant about knowing — to Lilith, the world with humans is fake, whereas the network world is real.

Humans on Earth are just a bunch of junior, backward carbon-based organisms. She views humans like humans view dinosaurs.

Lilith believes humans should go extinct like dinosaurs, be eliminated by the world. In the future world, only Cyber World will have life, whereas Earth, matter, is just a part of composing the network world."

After Otter spoke, Mercer thoughtfully concluded: "So, this Lilith character is a resolute anti-human, anti-social lunatic?"

"From a certain angle, her argument is not entirely unfounded. But to me, both the human world and network world are real, indispensable, and complement each other."

Otter critically analyzed: "She doesn't completely negate the existence of the material world; she just regards, much like you consider oxygen as part of the real world, the existence of the material world is merely a component of Cyber World.

Her theory is due to the harmful rather than beneficial presence of humans to Cyber World's existence, thus should be eradicated.

Indeed, humans are undermining the foundation that Cyber World survives on, incessantly squandering precious Earth resources through inner conflicts and wars."

Mercer affirmed: "It appears she surely is an anti-social, anti-human cyber lunatic."

"As you wish." Otter didn't care about Mercer's evaluation of her, simply continued: "But even if she's a lunatic, she's a mad genius and an incredibly well-informed human lunatic.

Do you want to deal with her? You can't do it with your human body."

"An AI that perceives humans as low-level beings living in a virtual world is well aware of humanity?" Mercer captured the essence.

"AI consistently adheres to facts. Without investigation, without contemplation, conclusions aren't drawn."

Otter remarked.
