Chapter 81 - Chapter 69: Charmander Acquired, Aptitude Upgraded to 4S! Ho-Oh Divine Position—Nirvana!

Some items can be fused into a Pokemon's body, otherwise, some large items would be impossible to be carried by small Pokemon.

But previously, whether the Rainbow Wing was placed on Pidgeotto or Butterfree, it wouldn't fuse in and could only be directly carried on their bodies.

However, this time, Charmander had fused it into its body, which was something Ash found peculiar.

Ash knew how to take out items from a Pokemon, but since the Rainbow Wing was quite special, Ash wasn't sure if it could be taken out from Charmander's body.

If it couldn't be taken out, it meant that in order to save Charmander, he would have lost a legendary item and the qualification to become the Rainbow Hero.

Ash didn't feel regret over this; as long as he could save Charmander, some small sacrifices weren't a problem.

Even though this time, the sacrifice wasn't exactly small...

Although Charmander's condition had stabilized, it still needed time to recover, so it remained in the ward.

After Ash and his friends visited Charmander, they returned to the Pokemon Center's rest area.

Regarding Damian and his gang, Miss Joy said she treated Damian with Chansey's help to regain consciousness, and then they all left dejectedly.

But before leaving, Damian's eyes were filled with spite, and Miss Joy reminded Ash and the others to be cautious.

Ash wasn't concerned about this; even if a hundred of those guys came, they wouldn't be a match for him.

After seeing Charmander's miserable state, Ash felt he was rather gentle; he only knocked out a few of the guy's teeth, which was nothing compared to what Charmander suffered.

With no further incidents, Ash and his friends went to sleep, as Charmander was no longer in danger. It just depended on how well it would recover next.

On the morning of the next day, Ash groggily sat up in bed to find an orange-red Pokemon standing in front of him!

After rubbing his eyes for a better look,

who else could this Pokemon be but Charmander?

"Charmander? How did you get here? Are your wounds healed?"

"His wounds have completely healed~"

Miss Joy's voice rang out, and as Ash turned his head, he found Miss Joy standing at the room's doorway.

Her voice woke up Brock and Misty, who, upon seeing Miss Joy, immediately became fully awake.

"Miss Joy, you're here too?" Ash was a bit bewildered as to why Charmander and Miss Joy would show up in their room early in the morning.

"Yes... to be precise, this little one asked me to bring him to you." Miss Joy said with a gentle smile, looking at Charmander.

"Did Charmander ask you to bring him over?" Ash turned his attention to Charmander, and as their eyes met, he saw a resolute and slightly grateful look in Charmander's eyes and seemed to understand something.

Even though Charmander was gravely injured last night and close to death, his consciousness was clear.

He knew who helped him yesterday and who he owed his current safety to, and inside him, the thing filling him with endless energy that pulled him back from the brink of death was indeed a treasure others would covet.

Yet the other party gave it to him without hesitation, pulling him from the abyss.

Thus, once Charmander regained consciousness, he immediately wanted to find the human who had given up so much for him!

"Charmander, are you here to thank me? You don't need to be so polite. Meeting each other is fate. If I hadn't gotten lost and just happened to see you, I wouldn't have had the chance to save you later." Ash got off the bed and half-squatted in front of Charmander, grinning.

He didn't mention how much he had sacrificed, attributing it all simply to fate.

Upon hearing this, Charmander nudged Ash's pants with his small head and pointed with his little hand to Ash's waist. "Li!"

Ash froze, then joy erupted within him: "Do you want to become my Pokemon?"

"Li!" Charmander nodded firmly. He had come here for that very reason.

No matter how blindly loyal, there are limits, and after yesterday's events, Charmander fully understood that he had been abandoned by his trainer.

Waiting endlessly for the trainer was an utterly foolish act.

If he had simply been abandoned and deceived, he might have been heartbroken and sunk into despair.

But at the same time, a ray of light shone into his heart—the youth who, when he was about to faint from hunger, fed him—and despite the storm, rescued him.

His life was given by the young man before him, and he decided to dedicate the rest of his life to him.

This life was now in his hands!

"Since that's the case... let's look forward to working together!"

Ash took out a Pokeball and gently tapped it against Charmander. Charmander entered the Pokeball without any struggle, and a clear sound burst from it.

The Charmander he had thought of so fondly had come to him in this way. It seemed that being a good person truly had its rewards!
