Chapter 37 - Nᴇᴡ Bʟᴏᴏᴅ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ Hᴜɴᴛ

The morning in Salt Blake was cold and damp.

The streets still carried the smell of last night's rain, and the scent of fresh coffee mixed with wet asphalt.

Roberto sat in front of his laptop in a small rented room, eyes glued to the screen.

He had spent the whole night digging for any trace of the hunter who saved him and his friends back at the Crimson Bite.

"No way… she left no digital trace… nothing…" he muttered as he typed lines of code, hacked networks, analyzed IPs, and scanned shady forums.

Then something flickered on the screen — an old post buried among bizarre threads:

"Monster Hunters – Confidential.

You call it, it dies."

Roberto's eyes widened.

It was the same tone as the woman who fought vampires like it was nothing.

Using his tech skills, he traced the listing to an approximate location: Blood's Bar.

By early afternoon, Roberto was there.

Sunlight reflected off the dirty windows, and the place looked even more rundown than he remembered.

Behind the bar, Kimberly was cleaning tables, her gaze sharp as ever — ready for trouble.

When she spotted him, she raised a brow.

"You again?" she said, crossing her arms.

"I thought you had already forgotten my face."

"I don't forget that easily," Roberto replied, nervous.

"Mind if I sit?"

Kim shrugged and nodded at a chair.

"Only if you're here for coffee, kid. I don't have time for flattery."

He chuckled lightly.

"Actually… I wanted to thank you."

"Oh really?" Kim replied, sarcastic, side-eyeing him.

"And how do you plan to do that? Chocolate?"

Roberto took a breath, trying to stay serious.

"No. I want to help you."

Kim blinked, confused.

"What's with this whole chase? You don't even know me."

He swallowed hard.

"I lost my dad in Brazil… to a monster. I was the only one who saw it. Nobody believed me.

But now… if I can help you with my tech skills, maybe I can make a difference."

Kim studied him for a moment.

He was being honest.

And something in his eyes reminded her of herself when she was younger — determination mixed with pain.

She sighed.

"Fine… but don't expect me to babysit you or play bodyguard all the time."

"I won't," he answered firmly.

"I want to be useful."

Over the next few days, he proved he was.

New cases showed up: monsters attacking warehouses, mysterious disappearances, signs of supernatural activity creeping into distant neighborhoods.

Kim handled the scouting and hunting while Roberto stayed in the backline, hacking security cameras, digging into police records, and accessing private databases.

"Here, look at this," Roberto said one night, turning his laptop toward her.

"These disappearances aren't random. The monsters are moving in a specific pattern."

"Interesting…" Kim murmured, studying the digital map.

"Nice catch. You're proving to be useful."

"Told you," Roberto smirked, proud.

And just like that, a new partnership began to form.

Not just a hunter and a tech guy — a team.

A combination of brute strength, supernatural speed, and strategic intelligence.

Kim, though reluctant to admit it, realized something new.

She didn't have to carry everything alone anymore.

There was someone willing to fight beside her — and that, strangely enough, made her feel… a bit more human.

As night fell over Salt Blake, the moonlight reflected on the wet streets.

Out there, the world remained dangerous.

But for the first time… Kimberly wasn't completely alone.
