After Martha long scolding for my unannounced departure. I immediately dove back into the comfortable chaos of my lab. With Subject 7 ever so helpful and silent assisting me, my work had finished ahead of schedule. It took a mere week to bring my magnum opus to fruition.
"Subject 7, pass me that Wisdom Cube," I instructed, my hand already outstretched, not bothering to turn my head from the delicate wires I was handling.
"Here," she replied, placing the cool, iridescent cube precisely in my palm.
A few final, precise adjustments, a moment of intense focus... and then, a victorious click. I straightened up, my heart swelling with triumph.
"Yes! My masterpiece!"
I held it aloft. It was reminiscent of a Pip-Boy, but infinitely sleeker, cast in a gorgeous blend of silver and matte black. It wasn't just a gadget; it was a distillation of my genius.
"This contains all my inventions into one! I can summon anything I need without lugging heavy equipment around. Just with this device, I effectively hold the entire American military no, the world's military in the palm of my hand!"
With a flourish, I linked the device onto my left forearm. A cool, pleasant weight settled on my skin.
A holographic interface flickered to life, showing my vital statistics.

"Excellent. Now, I can access the system's shop just by thinking about it, and the item will appear in the device's storage. Plus, no weight! It's all right here," I said, admiring the sleek band on my arm.
"Unbreakable, unshakable, and completely modular! Very versatile."
A wicked grin stretched across my face.
"And with the Wisdom Cube powering it, I even get some of the raw power of a Kansen. I could become a full Kansen and reap all the benefits... but the type of warship I want is far too expensive. I could only afford the two cubes used for Subject 7 and the reactor in this very device."
I spent a few more minutes fine-tuning the device, fixing a few minor bugs—always room for improvement.
"Miss, dinner's ready!" Martha's voice called out, and I immediately perked up.
Tools abandoned, I scurried to the dinner table, which was indeed very small and cozy.
"Here you go," Martha said, placing a plate in front of me. "And this is for you, too." She set another plate next to Subject 7, then sat down to serve Ruby.
"Thank you," Subject 7 murmured.
"Mhm," I hummed, taking a hearty bite.
"This is good."
"You're welcome."
After clearing my plate, the urgent need for data reasserted itself. I needed test subjects willing guinea pigs to push the limits of my new masterpiece. The lab was good, but the street was better.
"I am heading out. Subj- Z is coming with me," I announced, already at the door. Subject 7 followed obediently.
I paused, a flash of generosity striking me. "Okay, Subj—I mean... actually, I'm feeling nice today, just this once. What name would you like for anybody else to call you?"
She fidgeted, suddenly shy and nervous. "I... erm... well, just... call me Z23."
"WELL, LET'S GO!" I shouted, grabbing her hand and pulling her out the door.
As we walked, I noticed fewer people than usual. Soon, I heard the unmistakable sounds of fighting, screaming, and the distinctive shouts of people in white clothing a robbery, perhaps?
"Huh, I guess we've strayed into the Detroit part of the city," I mused, deciding we should turn back.
But before I could, the guys in red were suddenly jumped by people wearing jackets the same kind I'd created for Martha and Ruby. That could only mean one thing...
Ding!
"Oh, I get it! It's those Doctors that are a global superpower with a landship!" I said, piecing it together from the snippets of news I'd ignored.
"Mistress, they are heading towards you," Z23 warned, her combat rigging already shimmering into existence around her.
"Calm down. They're Doctors. They won't start a fight," I said with a breezy smile.
"Besides, I don't do war crimes."
"Somehow, I don't believe you, Mistress," Z23 replied, her face a picture of unamused skepticism.
"Eh!? You wound me so!" I feigned offense, quickly plucking a small, iridescent vial from my coat pocket and concealing it within the sleeve.
"Who are you!" a bunny-eared girl in a Doctor uniform demanded.
I puffed out my chest, the Tachyon Device thrumming on my arm. "I AM AGNES TACHYON, THE BEST MIND IN THE UNIVERSE!" I declared with unbridled passion.
"Eh!?" the entire group except the Doctor babbled in confusion.
"?" I tilted my head. "I just got out of my room. Care to tell me what's happening?"
The bunny girl looked at me suspiciously.
"Have you been living under a rock? Did you not get the news?"
"Actually, no. I was far too busy with my research. I only leave when I need data," I explained.
Just then, a wave of people in white clothing appeared on the roofs and surrounding streets. They had completely encircled the Rhodes island operators.
"Reunion," the bunny girl hissed.
"Mhm. It seems you're in quite a pickle," I observed.
Before anyone could move, a girl stepped out from behind me, frost crystallizing on the ground around her feet.
"Very fascinating," I muttered, my mind racing.
Do I join the Doctor, or do I join reunion? I would, naturally, side with whoever could offer me unlimited resources. If they couldn't, or wouldn't, get me what I needed... well, I could always just buy a nuke or indulge in a little tomfoolery.
Hehehe.
