On the first day back to school, there was a theoretical test, and before the test, students who hadn't gone for internships were curiously asking the intern students about their experiences.
"Obito, what do intern ninjas usually do? Is it the same as official ninjas?" A classmate asked Obito with a curious face.
"It's probably similar. Basically, it's about doing commission missions, and when there aren't any missions, you follow your teacher for cultivation." Obito recalled and then answered.
"Although they are all commission missions, each mission is quite different. You get to visit different countries and see different sceneries."
Obito quite enjoyed going on missions. Although they encountered danger last time, they managed to overcome the difficulties through their hard work, and that feeling of success after putting in effort was truly satisfying, like a thrill from head to toe.
"You even went abroad!" The surrounding students all showed expressions of shock and envy.
Not to mention going abroad, they've never even left Konoha; they've been there ever since they were born.
"Interns can even go abroad. It's a pity I wasn't selected."
"We'll get there soon too. In two months, after passing the graduation exam, we'll become official ninjas."
The surrounding students started discussing. Some began to yearn for the ninja life after graduation because of Obito's words, while others were curious about what other countries are like.
"Which countries did you go to? How are foreign countries different from the Land of Fire?" A student couldn't help but continue asking.
Before Obito could answer, Uchiha Tekka, who overheard the discussion, voiced his doubt.
"Interns are only supposed to do D-Class Missions, and those are all village tasks. There's no leaving the village, so how could you possibly go abroad?"
He, too, had participated in internships, but all his tasks involved odd jobs, like catching cats or picking up trash.
Listening to Obito talk about seeing sights in different countries, he seriously suspected that Obito was bragging since the registry ninjas at the mission hall had said that intern squads could only take on D-Class missions.
"Yeah, I also had internships, and we intern ninjas could only do odd jobs like picking up trash or farm work," another student who participated in the internship stood up to confirm Uchiha Tekka's words.
In the fourth grade, there were a total of thirty interns, with three to four students selected from each class, and the internship count for class two had four students.
Seeing two interns in the class contradicting Obito, the rest of the students looked at Obito with puzzled expressions, some even with skeptical glances.
Although Obito's performance in this academic year was quite extraordinary, given his performance over the previous three years, they indeed considered the possibility of exaggeration.
"Generally, intern squads can only do D-Class missions." Obito didn't get angry because of his classmates' doubts but nodded in agreement with this statement.
It seemed to Uchiha Tekka that Obito was admitting to bragging, nodding to himself that Obito wasn't too out of touch, and after all, he wasn't the only one in the class who had participated in an internship.
"Then why did you say you went abroad for missions, Obito?" Some students who believed Obito asked in confusion.
They initially wanted to see Obito's explanation, but Obito's words left them unable to understand. Was he admitting he was a liar?
"But we are not just any intern squad. The Third Hokage saw that our squad had exceptional strength and specially allowed us to take on C-Class missions."
Obito couldn't help but show a proud smile as he said this. This was a special privilege granted by the Hokage, unique to them.
Under normal circumstances, being misunderstood would definitely upset him, but this time Obito thought it was perfectly normal.
Because the fact was, intern squads were indeed not allowed to do tasks above D-Class, and that was what the registry ninjas initially told them. They were able to take on C-Class missions because their performance was so outstanding that the Hokage believed they were capable of handling higher-level tasks.
Obito thought this was quite reasonable. Their teacher, Teacher Mokgetsu, was countless times stronger than other teachers, and he, Might Guy, and Kakashi were far superior to their peers in terms of strength.
"Special permission from the Hokage!" The students in the classroom were shocked by Obito's words. This was the Hokage that everyone in Konoha admired.
Uchiha Tekka was also dumbfounded. He hadn't expected Obito to go to such lengths. Bringing in a Hokage's special permission sounded even more unbelievable than interns going abroad for missions.
Even though deep down he didn't believe either claim, Uchiha Tekka had to admit that adding the two together made them sound somewhat true.
"So how many C-Class missions have you completed, Obito? How many countries have you been to?" The part of the class that believed Obito asked with curiosity.
"I've been to two countries, once in the Land of Rice Fields and twice in the Land of Rivers, but honestly, in terms of completed C-Class missions, we haven't completed a single one." Obito answered candidly.
Even though they had taken on three C-Class missions, their records showed zero completed C-Class missions, as all were upgraded after completion.
"Huh? It's not like all missions failed, right?" Obito's words left the surrounding students dumbfounded. Could it be all three missions failed in some way?
"No failures, but each time we encountered unforeseen circumstances, leading to the missions being upgraded. So while we took on C-Class missions, they were upgraded to B-Class and A-Class when completed," Obito replied in a nonchalant manner.
Most students, although unaware of what A-Class and B-Class missions entailed, found the concept of mission upgrades impressive and all cheered, expressing their admiration.
Contrarily, those with some knowledge like Uchiha Tekka and another intern found it hard to believe. Had Obito not mentioned A-Class and B-Class missions, they might still have believed a bit. After all, Obito was indeed competent.
