Ian was worried that this little creature might start self-harming again. He leaned against a big tree, raised his hand, and spoke, "I sincerely hope we aren't in the Amazon jungle."
Without Uncle Snape's potions to ease the experience, the journey remained as primitive and rough through Apparition. The young wizard took a moment to gradually return to normal.
"It's the Forbidden Forest, Mr. Prince." House-elf Rabi looked full of guilt, speaking with a timid tone, "Rabi is just a very ordinary house-elf, without the majestic magic power of the great Dumbledore, unable to perform Phantom Teleportation across such a long distance."
It seemed to think that Ian wanted to go to the Amazon jungle.
It felt rather regretful about its own weakness.
"Phantom Teleportation? Isn't it Apparition?" Ian surveyed his surroundings. Despite the eerie silence of the Forbidden Forest at night, some sounds could still be heard occasionally.
These might be the babbling water of a distant stream or the low call of night birds. Yet, amidst this tranquility, some unknown sounds were hidden.
Possibly the footsteps of a fantastic beast or the low growl of some unknown creature.
"Our magic is somewhat different from the wizards'." House-elf Rabi answered honestly; indeed, they could accomplish many things that wizards find difficult or impossible to achieve.
Such as performing spatial jumps at Hogwarts.
"If you have the time in the future, could you try teaching me?" Ian showed interest in the magic of the house-elf Rabi; perhaps it was a special legacy, or possibly the magic even older.
House-elf Rabi excitedly nodded its head.
"It would be Rabi's honor!"
It squeaked its reply and then hesitated a bit, "However, wizards might not be able to learn our magic, but it doesn't stop Rabi from willing to be Mr. Prince's test subject!"
Goodness!
Such foresight, already way ahead!
"Not a test subject; it's about exploring magic together." Ian raised his hand wanting to fist-bump with the house-elf Rabi, but the little elf covered its face with fear.
"Rabi doesn't have the qualification to explore magic together with Mr. Prince. Rabi is just a little elf, already finding the greatest happiness being able to contribute to Mr. Prince's learning of magic!"
Very firm words.
Which left Ian somewhat at a loss for what to say.
"Are there sheep here? Do you keep live animals in the Forbidden Forest?" He tried changing the subject, looking towards the sparse moonlight ahead, where visibility was extremely low.
Silvery moonlight could only pass through the tree shade, forming patchy shadows on the ground.
"The food eaten by the little wizards all comes from special farms. What we receive is already processed food, so Rabi brings Mr. Prince to the Forbidden Forest."
"Other little wizards can't come here, but Mr. Prince is different…" House-elf Rabi began leading the way with its delicate arms and legs in front.
Before Ian could ask if this little fellow knew Divination, aware he was Dumbledore and Snape's favorite, Rabi's words drew his attention.
"The Forbidden Forest has many creatures unseen outside—goblins, Poison Horned Beasts, Bird Snakes, Evil Witch Birds, rats, Fire Ash Snakes, Warthogs, and even ferocious and terrible giant dragons."
Upon saying this, Rabi's expression also turned to one of terror.
Their tribe indeed excels at expressing emotion.
"But Rabi won't lead Mr. Prince to such dangerous places; Rabi wants to keep Mr. Prince safe, only taking Mr. Prince to the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest to find the Three-legged Sheep." Despite being reckless, House-elf Rabi evidently wasn't as reckless as the one Harry Potter encountered.
"Three-legged Sheep?"
Ian was somewhat surprised.
He hadn't seen such fantastic creatures in the series books of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
"Yes, they come from Japan and are a kind of bullying xxx-level fantastic creature, but Rabi thinks they can't even compete with those Tree-dwelling Leprechauns in the Forbidden Forest."
House-elf Rabi's tone was filled with disdain, this was the first time Ian saw a creature that even a house-elf looked down upon.
He grew curious about the Three-legged Sheep.
"Actually, any creature will do, even raw beef is acceptable," said Ian in Hogwarts' kitchen, a statement he hadn't had time to finish before.
Following the notably shorter Rabi, Ian saw several Tree-dwelling Leprechauns snoring, standing up alertly upon their approach.
Their green seedling-like bodies looked particularly interesting. Avoiding this guarded area, Ian soon reached a patch of earth covered in a large amount of blood stains.
The blood stains extended along the ground.
Dragging a long red trail across the clearing.
"It's a deer's blood."
House-elf Rabi touched it with a small hand, sniffed it, "It might be those centaurs. They sometimes like to cross over to hunt the food they need."
The little fellow's confident tone made Ian slightly curious.
"Centaurs, huh, I indeed want to see them." Ian looked at the blood stains on the ground, roughly understanding the reason behind house-elf Rabi's judgment.
