Chapter 78: Horus and Omega
Horus clenched his Talon and observed calmly, "The commander of this Poor People's Alliance has impressive tactics. He actually broke through our Legion's firepower blockade, they're attempting a decapitation strike. Interesting."
Numerous interstellar fighters outside the flagship relentlessly attacked, suffering heavy losses in the fierce battle as their laser cannons failed to penetrate the energy shields.
But the Poor People's Alliance air force had only one objective: escort their commander to capture the enemy flagship.
BOOM!
Horus's flagship shuddered as a heavy flying machine slammed into its hull.
After the report came through, the bridge crew realized the enemy had actually used boarding tactics with starfighters against a vessel nearly thirty kilometers long!
"If they have any ability at all, let us see what manner of warrior has come," Abaddon said, raising an eyebrow. He clearly didn't think highly of Planet Leviel's technological capabilities.
A dozen minutes later, the Luna Wolves Astartes had eliminated many enemies inside the ship, but a dozen breached through and rushed onto the bridge itself.
Horus and the Mournival watched in astonishment as a group of enemies stormed into the Legion's heart, while Abaddon and his warriors charged forward to intercept and kill them.
Abaddon, wielding his power sword, swiftly slashed down at the lead soldier, a figure clad in heavy power armor, standing 2.56 meters tall.
In an instant, the opponent's power sword crackled with energy, and with a smooth motion, he blocked Abaddon's strike.
As their blades clashed, Abaddon felt the shock reverberate through his arms. His opponent's strength and swordsmanship could rival his own.
"Who exactly are you?"
As the question left his lips, Horus, standing three meters tall in his battle plate, looked over with interest.
THUD!
Omega blasted Abaddon back with a single sword strike, the First Captain's face showing disbelief. Then, with the assistance of his two subordinates, the three formed an attack formation and charged straight at Horus.
Horus swung the Talon, sending both subordinates flying backward like broken dolls. They crashed to the deck as Omega's blade hurtled toward him at lightning speed.
Abaddon, Tarik Torgaddon, Horus Aximand, and the other Luna Wolves, having dispatched their opponents, watched with keen attention.
As the enemy's blade approached, the Primarch's lightning claw swung with speed beyond mortal perception, aiming straight for the enemy's core.
BOOM!
The Talon of Horus, which had torn apart countless powerful foes, met unexpected resistance. A power sword collided with the lightning claw, and the shockwave made all four warriors present realize the truth of their enemy's nature.
Horus and Omega were locked in a stalemate, their immense strength unmistakable, power at the Primarch level. Their energies formed visible distortions in the air between them, neither side gaining advantage.
If Horus had harbored doubts when the warrior blocked Abaddon's strike, now, standing against him in direct combat, only one explanation remained. Only his brothers could match him thus.
The shockwave rippled through the bridge's equipment, causing lights to flicker. Electrical sparks crackled from damaged consoles.
As the lights flashed, Horus and Omega simultaneously disengaged with explosive force. With a thunderous bang, both were forced back several steps.
The two figures stood facing each other beneath the mechanical dome. Horus quietly assessed the warrior, approximately 2.56 meters tall and fully armored, while Abaddon, realizing this was no ordinary enemy, gripped his sword and moved to assist.
Horus, standing over three meters tall, lightly raised the Talon in a halting gesture and laughed.
"Stop! He is my brother!"
Upon hearing the word "brother," Abaddon and his three companions were momentarily stunned, profoundly curious about this formidable enemy's identity.
Omega had tested Horus's strength and found it formidable, so he didn't press the attack.
His voice was cold and measured. "You're strong, but I don't recall having a brother like you. Right now, both sides are at war. As commanders, the only option is to fight."
"Hahaha, brothers shouldn't fight each other," Horus said with a gentle smile, unconcerned by Omega's hostile attitude. "Give me some time, and I can explain what relationship we share. Then you can make your decision. Fair enough?"
Like a warm and approachable older brother, Horus's gentle demeanor surprised Omega, who nodded, signaling him to continue.
Under the watchful eyes of Abaddon and his companions, Horus explained that the Emperor had twenty powerful sons scattered throughout the stars, and that these Primarchs were returning one by one as the Great Crusade progressed.
Horus had been the first Primarch recovered, and now all had returned, except for the twentieth Primarch, who had not yet been found.
"The Alpha Legion's Primarch, truly?" Torgaddon asked curiously.
Though the Alpha Legion had remained shrouded in mystery over the years, its internal workings largely unknown, everyone was aware of the Alpha Sector's development and the Legion's growth. Even now, the Medias Sector was undergoing strange development and construction under their aegis.
As Horus's four chief advisors, they had all analyzed that the Alpha Legion's Primarch had already returned but had not made it public for unknown reasons.
Now that someone had emerged who was very likely the twentieth Primarch, who were the figures previously speculated to lead the Alpha Legion?
They didn't believe for a second that Company Commander Skol possessed such capability, though of course, the Luna Wolves had no interest in delving into the Alpha Legion's secrets.
Seeing their curious expressions, Omega asked in return, "Are you certain I'm the twentieth Primarch? Mistaking my identity would be no small matter."
"Hahaha, to mistake my own brother for someone else? I, Horus, am not that foolish." His confidence was absolute; only a Primarch could withstand another Primarch's attack speed. "By the way, what is your name?"
"My name is Alpharius Omega. What's yours?"
"Horus Lupercal."
Abaddon was still processing the name Alpharius Omega. After the introductions, Omega didn't waste time with further pleasantries. Instead, he urged both sides to cease hostilities to avoid unnecessary casualties.
Horus gladly accepted the proposal, and both sent messages to their respective forces, gradually separating the two fleets in the space battle.
While Abaddon oversaw the aftermath of the boarding action on the flagship, he curiously observed the newly identified twentieth Primarch.
Horus, on the bridge, proved friendly and approachable, pulling Omega aside to discuss matters privately.
Just as Omega had previously analyzed, Horus was a man of great talent and profound knowledge whose approachable demeanor made people naturally drawn to him.
Horus excelled at bringing people together. Like warm sunlight, he guided the conversation naturally so that they seemed able to discuss anything.
During their exchange, Horus inquired about Omega's experiences on planet Leviel. Omega had already prepared for this day.
Horus harbored doubts about the possibility that the Alpha Legion might be concealing a Primarch. When he pressed Omega on this, he found that Omega could answer in great detail about what he had witnessed on Leviel, clearly indicating genuine residency on that world.
Considering the Alpha Legion's aura of mystery, Horus asked, "Is Planet Leviel your homeworld, the planet where you were born?"
"No, I only came to this planet seven years ago and have been living here since, establishing the Poor People's Alliance," Omega replied naturally, answering honestly.
"Then...?"
All four Mournival members were curious. Omega said calmly, "Please forgive me for being unable to tell you more. I was the only person on that planet, and I don't even know its name. I've been wandering in space ever since I left."
"So that's how it was!" Horus exclaimed, his expression full of brotherly concern and understanding, sensing Omega's genuine emotion.
Omega didn't know the name of the planet he'd landed on. He'd been wandering in space for the past seventy years, constantly fighting. He wasn't lying.
It simply wasn't the reality that Horus and his companions imagined.
Horus believed Omega's words. It explained why the Imperium, with its vast territory, had received no news of Omega for over 170 years during the Great Crusade.
This Primarch had been wandering. Finding him had been entirely a matter of fortune.
