"Big guy, that Zhu Meng is trying to harm you again. I'll bring you away now, somewhere safe where you can rest up... big guy, can you hear me?" Tang Yue jumped to a spot on the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon and called out softly.
Damon, who was waiting at the island, looked at the giant snake emerging from the waters with fascination. The water began to bubble, and the sight of it was enough to show how enormous the surfacing creature was.
A shocking black shadow slowly surfaced from the silver lake under the illumination of the moonlight. Damon could not believe that such a small section of the lake could hold such a massive being.
The shadow became clearer and slowly rose from the water.
The giant snake's head finally appeared. Its scaly body glowed faintly under the moonlight.
Tang Yue wore a smile when she saw the Black Totem Snake. She showed no hint of fear. Instead, she reached out her hand and fondled the snake's head.
The Black Totem Snake's head was the size of a big house. Its flat nostrils were as large as a small cave, and its mouth was even bigger. Its long tongue was terrifying enough to make anyone wet their pants.
Tang Yue was absolutely daring. She even jumped onto the Black Totem Snake's head and started talking to him.
The Eye of Terror that the snake possessed worked its wonders, as the moment Damon saw it, a wave of fear rose in his heart. The might of the ancient totem was not something Damon's mind could handle, marking him with the Terror Seed effect of the eye.
"He's my student, a disobedient and bad student. His name is Damon." Tang Yue stood on the Black Totem Snake's head and pointed in Damon's direction.
The Black Totem Snake turned slightly. Its lantern-sized eyes stared right at Damon as its tongue poked out in his direction.
"He seems to like you!" Tang Yue giggled when she saw Damon clutching his head, trembling a little under the snake's gaze.
"Oh yeah, forgot to mention," Tang Yue said, hitting her head lightly. "The eyes of the big guy are rather special."
"It has the Eyes of Terror, which plant a Seed of Terror in living beings weaker than it. The seed will grow deep within the soul, and the prey won't realize it has grown into a giant tree. When the prey sees the snake again, it will drop to its knees subconsciously, overwhelmed with fear. Its prey would not have the courage to oppose it," Tang Yue explained his condition to him.
"A terrifying ability indeed," Damon muttered as he also listened to the method to undo the effect of the Eye of Terror.
Misto Control.
Absolute poison control and resistance.
The strongest venom.
Supreme Monarch powers.
The snake before Damon was an absolute powerhouse, an apex existence below Emperor rank.
It took some time to convince the Black Snake, as Damon began to cultivate the method Tang Yue mentioned to overcome the effect of the Eye of Terror.
The method was simple: to stare at the beast during meditation and overcome his fear. The method worked instantaneously as he overcame the effects and fear of the snake.
"The big guy is ready! Let's go." Dropping from the beast's head, Tang Yue spoke, and Damon nodded before stopping to look at his ringing phone.
Mo Fan.
It was Mo Fan's call. Picking it up, Damon asked what happened.
"I got Lingling with me and collected the box. Now what?" Mo Fan complained as he looked down at the box of blood serum and the grumbling little girl beside him, who was on call with her big sister.
"I've already told you before! Take the serums and identify what's wrong with them. That girl Lingling should be able to do it. You go and find the boy I asked for."
"Wait... but honestly, first explain what's going on? I was enjoying my time with Ye Xinxia when you called me to run your errands."
"Sigh... okay, do you remember the snake that appeared in Hangzhou a few days ago?" Damon explained. "That snake is a monarch-class creature that the Association wants to hunt down."
"Oh, that's great!"
"What's great?" Tang Yue, who was listening to the conversation, said sharply, hearing Mo Fan's words, who had no idea what was going on.
"This sexy voice? Is that Ms. Tang Yue with you?" Damon had the urge to punch the guy in the face but controlled himself before cutting the call and instead calling Lingling.
He explained in a believable and roundabout way about Luo Mian's suspected shady deals and use of defective blood serums that were causing a plague all over the district.
Damon carefully omitted parts and mentioned how the councilman was using the Black Snake as a scapegoat to escape investigation.
It was his first time calling and talking with Lingling, a major side character in Mo Fan's story, but the sharp girl immediately understood Damon's intentions and caught on to how they wished to cure the pandemic and clear the big guy's name.
Getting Lingling on board, Damon asked Mo Fan to find the boy who raised the Grey Eagle in the military and request his help to secretly harvest and bring back the current batch of medicine to solve the situation.
After giving out all the details, Damon left the city with Tang Yue and the big guy, who now rested inside the totem bead.
"...So where are we going?" Damon asked as they arrived at the edge of the city.
"White Town. From there, we'll leave for the deep mountains," Tang Yue muttered as she laid out her plan, which Damon denied.
"The Magic Association is after us. Noticing the disappearance of the big guy, they'll surely put an order out for us. Let's avoid going to any town," Damon said, then summoned his magic wings. Grabbing Tang Yue in a princess carry, he leapt into the air and flew straight toward the wilderness.
Tang Yue blushed in embarrassment and struggled a little as they flew. Hours of travel turned into minutes as they journeyed through the night, finally arriving in a zone far from Hangzhou and the Association's eyes.
The big guy was released as mist covered the entire area. His massive body slithered and wound around the giant mountain that barely managed to bear his weight. The sun rose from the east as the shadow of the magnificent beast shrouded the forest.
The scene was breathtaking and magical as Damon imprinted the beauty of nature and the giant totem permanently into his memory.
"Are you sure we don't need its blood?" Still looking at the giant creature, Tang Yue asked, her eyes never leaving the totem she considered her father figure.
"Nah, don't need it. I have an idea of what's causing the plague. And it's definitely not the big guy here," Damon reassured her with a smile.
They had successfully escorted the Totem Snake out — no pursuit, no fights in between. Everything was sorted out peacefully as Mo Fan and Lingling began investigating the clues they had received from Damon.
Getting dirt on Luo Mian wasn't something they could accomplish easily, but proving the cause of the epidemic and finding the boy who knew the cure — that was well within their capabilities.
But yeah fate doesn't like people messing with it. The moment someone dares it, it shows how futile one's actions in front of it are.
"Gaw!"
The morning of Hangzhou was shrouded in feathers as the Silver Sky Ruler declared its arrival.
The disastrous plague spread all over the cities as death toll and infected count increased over second.
