Driving his Mercedes to the Oriental Pearl Tower—the most renowned Magic Association headquarters in China—Damon couldn't help but notice the glimmer of the skyline reflected on his car's polished surface.
Yes, Mercedes existed in this world too, enhanced with magical mechanisms and designs unique to this era. Not just Mercedes—brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Rolls-Royce also thrived here.
Currently, Damon owned two black Mercedes: a G-Class and a Maybach S-Class. Why only these two? Damon wasn't much of a car enthusiast. Like any man, he liked cars, but for daily use, he didn't see the need to collect them.
He did, however, place an order for his own Rolls-Royce and several other luxury cars. The orders were approved, but assembling those four-wheeled palaces of luxury took time. Unlike the novels where one could casually walk into a dealership and buy a high-end car, here it required bookings, interviews, and even approval to prove one's eligibility to join their exclusive circles.
Parking his car and taking the elevator up, Damon was immediately greeted by an elderly man and his assistant.
Guo Liyu—the owner of this establishment—was the man Damon had been referred to for his second Element awakening.
Normally, one had to be an Intermediate Rank magician capable of conjuring a star diagram and pay a significant fee to obtain an Awakening or Guiding Stone. However, for those referred by people of influence, exceptions could be made—even if they lacked perfect star control.
The duo guided Damon to a quiet Awakening Room, bringing out the rare Space Element Awakening Stone he had requested.
Awakening Stones were restricted items. Each use required registration, and the Magic Association strictly controlled their distribution. They were dispatched only to certified schools, the military, Hunter's Unions, or other authorized organizations.
Although the stones were labeled by element, each merely contained a higher concentration of a specific elemental essence—it didn't guarantee the awakening of that element. It only increased the chances.
Space Element.
The strongest and most coveted element in the world. Damon wished to awaken Space as his second Element. Though the chances were incredibly slim, even with an Awakening Stone, he insisted on trying.
After the two left the room, Damon placed his hands on the Awakening Stone and closed his eyes, entering his spiritual world. He focused completely.
"Space Element… please, Space Element," Damon prayed silently, his mind filled with anticipation.
When the cold, glossy Awakening Stone sensed the warmth of his palms, it began to react. A radiant light blossomed from its center.
It felt just like his first awakening. With his eyes closed, Damon sensed a strange energy coursing through his veins before surging into his Spiritual Universe.
It was as if new life was being born within the chaotic expanse of his Spiritual Space, forming its own distinct territory. Tiny motes of energy, like golden dust, carefully drifted into this territory, expanding its domain.
Golden light radiated outward, regal and serene, floating beside the fiery nebula of his first element.
The energy wasn't fierce and overbearing like Lightning, nor as wild and passionate as Fire. The golden stardust exuded a calm, holy, and noble aura that no other element possessed.
"…That's not Space Element," Damon realized, recalling the color of Space.
He opened his eyes, dumbfounded. The Awakening Stone before him glowed with blinding golden light.
Pulling his hands away, Damon finally understood what had happened.
"…Awakening Light Element with a Space Guiding Stone?" he muttered, half in disbelief, half in frustration.
It was a joke that could make magicians laugh for a year. Awakening Space was rare—nearly impossible—but awakening a basic element like Light instead? One that wasn't even of the dimensional category?
"God dammit," Damon cursed inwardly. It was humiliating.
The old man and his assistant hurried into the room, surprised to see the golden glow before quickly registering the result into the Association's database.
Grumbling in a foul mood Damon wanted nothing more than leave the place right away, but held himself back from acting out of character. Once everything was done and registered Damon stood up and even without any escort or guidance left for the door.
Leaving the building, Damon's mood was foul. He stepped into the elevator, scowling.
"Fucking hell… Light Element of all things," he grumbled, forcing himself to calm down.
"What's done can't be undone," sighing he muttered, trying to see the brighter side. "Light Element…"
His tightened grip on the steering loosen with this thought as he recollected everything he knew about light element.
It wasn't a bad element. While weak at the Novice Rank—useful only against undead or cursed magic—it grew to become one of the strongest defensive elements at Intermediate Rank. At Super Level, it held the strongest single-target offensive spell among all elements.
It was useless early on, but once developed, it could become a powerful asset. Against Undead and dark magic which the majority of the antagonist in the story possess at overpowered level, the light element was the strongest and most effective counter to them all.
Shadow, Curse, Undead and even Mo Fan's unique Demon Element were weak against the might of light, not to mention with fire taking the offense having light taking care of his defense it made Damon more balanced for combat.
With that thought, Damon started his car and drove home, already planning ahead.
"Light elemental books, advanced-level control techniques… reaching Novice Rank before Intermediate… yeah, a lot to do," he muttered, calling one of his contacts to acquire rare materials for enhancing his Light Element.
"Development of Light Element is important," Damon said as he entered his garage, eyes glinting as he looked at the glowing red crystals in his inventory. "But you know what's more important than that?"
He smirked.
"Advancing Fire Element."
