Chapter 21 - Making Friends!

It took some time for the enforcers to finally arrive at the scene. Leading them was none other than Tang Yue, who gasped the moment she saw the condition Yu Ang was in.

Limbs severed, face disfigured, and eyes destroyed—he was barely alive by the time the enforcers arrived. They quickly took him into custody and provided the treatment he needed.

Honestly, Damon wanted to kill the man, but he held himself back. A priest was more valuable alive to the authorities. His running mouth would be useful to uncover more about the workings of the Vatican.

"...Ok, so what were you doing here? Tracking the Black Vatican?" At the crime scene, Tang Yue stood folding her arms, her gaze questioning.

"As I said before, I wasn't tracking the Black Vatican but a kidnapping case. The kidnappers were involved with them... and as you know, being a former resident of Bo City, I can't just let the Black Vatican be as it is. So—" Damon argued, but Tang Yue cut him off.

"So you attacked their base on your own?"

"You're not even twenty yet! Do you know how dangerous that is?"

"Yeah, yeah—not even twenty, but stronger than you, you know?" Damon shot back, making Tang Yue look at him with complicated eyes.

As a teacher, she was both proud and worried for her former student. In less than five years, he had already surpassed her in cultivation. It was something she was proud of, yet it worried her that he was involving himself with the Black Vatican.

Mo Fan was already too deeply tied to the Black Vatican after stealing the Underground Holy Spring, so Tang Yue had no choice but to support, teach, and guide him to protect himself. But Damon wasn't directly involved yet, so she wished he wouldn't get any further entangled.

Mo Fan, who had tagged along with Tang Yue, entered the room only to freeze upon sensing the tension.

"Should I leave you two alone?" he joked awkwardly, earning a furious glare from Tang Yue as her ears and cheeks flushed red.

"Sigh... anyway, I'll handle this matter. I'll make sure your name doesn't come out during the investigation," Tang Yue said, rubbing her head.

"No, don't bother. I also run a Hunter's Agency. My office requires that fame," Damon replied, making Tang Yue even angrier.

"Y-you! Do you know that if your name gets out, the Black Vatican will come after you too?" Tang Yue's anger was understandable, but Damon just grinned wider, not backing down.

"That's exactly what I want!"

***

The name of the Blue Deacon was revealed and quickly taken into custody as everyone rejoiced over the victory against the Black Vatican.

Xu Zhaoting and Zhang Lulu survived—unlike in the original plot where they met pitiful ends.

Since the priest was captured, identifying the student disciples of the Black Vatican through Mo Fan's previous method wasn't necessary. Thankfully, Xu Zhaoting already knew the identity of one of them and had him arrested along with his supporters.

The victory—capturing a Black Priest, a Blue Deacon, and killing several disciples—was a feat worth celebrating.

The citizens of Bo City rejoiced when the news broke. One of the culprits, Yu Ang, had finally gotten what he deserved. Not death, but a fate worse than death—spending the rest of his life in custody, atoning for his sins.

Damon's name and face spread throughout China. Many survivors from Bo City who knew his past cheered for him.

The day ended with Mo Fan also winning the Shadow Beast and passing the university's test, followed by an increase in contact between Mo Fan and Damon.

"Honestly, I'm envious of you! Do you know how our classmates would react if they knew what you did?"

"They'd cry tears of jealousy just to get a taste of our sexy Ms. Tang Yue," Mo Fan said, giving Damon a thumbs-up. "How did her lips taste? That ass—how amazing must that have felt?"

Mo Fan's perverted brain was enough to make Damon uncomfortable, but after being introduced to Zhao Manyan, his life took a new turn.

"He made out with our teacher." That single line from Mo Fan was enough to make Zhao Manyan see Damon as a role model before dragging him to parties and clubs where Damon was introduced to the adult world.

His contact with Ms. Tang Yue also increased over the phone, as Mo Fan and Damon began sharing their addresses.

Sometimes, Mo Fan would come over to Damon's house with Zhao Manyan—who usually brought girls—or Damon would spend time at Mo Fan's apartment, where he first met Ai Tutu and Mu Nujiao.

Ai Tutu, the mischievous girl whose chest seemed to outweigh her brains, and Mu Nujiao, whose beauty was unlike anything Damon had ever seen.

Honestly, since Damon had befriended Zhao Manyan and Mo Fan, the girls—especially Mu Nujiao—kept their distance. After all, being friends with the perverted duo, an infamous playboy, and the "Demon King of Pearl University," how could Damon possibly be normal? But surprisingly, they all began to hang out like ordinary friends.

Damon's hunter rank rose to Advanced/Senior after the Black Vatican incident. Days were spent hunting, nights enjoying life with his friends.

Life was fun this way, but soon a new development made Damon curse at the universities.

"What discounted thing did they smoke?" Damon muttered. "Sending teenagers into the real wilderness to survive with no safety precautions in place?"

Yes, the Imperial University and Pearl University had jointly decided to send their top talents into the destroyed city now overrun by monsters.

If they wanted their students to experience harshness, they could've done it in a controlled environment. What was the point of sending them into a monster's den?

Chinese novels and their obsession with deadly exams—at one point, they say they want to nurture talent, but then they pull this nonsense where life and death aren't guaranteed.

It was pure stupidity—wasting potential and calling it "thinning out the weak." In both his lives, Damon found that utterly ridiculous.

But yeah, that's how the development turned—and Damon remembered one of the most important turning points in Mo Fan's life.

"Demon Element!"
