Three years after they arrived at the new world, they had a problem. For some reason, Scott decided that they needed a leader chosen by democracy. One day afterwards, it was voting day. The town had grown as they had found mineral deposits and made and iron mine where they spent some time on trial and error until BB reinvented the solar panel. They now had electricity and a steady way of government, or at least, it was until he showed up.
"Children, as the only standing candidate, I would like to say, thank you for unanimously voting for me."
"Make that two candidates."
A man walked through the city hall. He stunk and looked exactly like BB. His name? Dials. The man was just as smart as a supercomputer and had BB beat in intelligence.
"Well, it won't matter. I've helped raise these kids for years. I've provided them with entertainment and I'm the reason they got here in the first place."
"We'll see about that."
Two hours of voting later, the results came in as BB was on the verge of a panic attack whilst counting the votes. Dials, the man he left behind for freedom, was in the room with him.
"Twenty votes' Dials, six votes Scott. Dials is now the official supreme leader of Backtown."
Dials smiled. This was the plan. The kids always went to the next biggest and flashiest thing. No matter how illogical.
"Would you like to make a speech?"
Dials went to the podium and began his speech. It was prepared on the spot and done withing a few minutes.
"As the new leader of the Backtown, I say that this place will look a lot different tomorrow. On behalf of Backtown, I hereby revoke the citizenship of the five founders."
The doors of the meeting hall flew off their hinges as Mistress became madder and madder. Others like Sears and Scott robbed the place blind whilst BB took only his journal. Sears was willing to enact his contingency for BB on Dials, but BB stopped him.
"We shouldn't."
Joey, on the other hand, had to say goodbye to the one he loved best. She didn't really know him or why he gave her privileges that the other kids didn't get but she felt sad that he was leaving.
"You won't see me for some time. Just know that."
She nodded as Joey walked away with a few tears. She was the only one of the kids that had voted for Scott.
"We should get going before they go full on Lord of the Flies."
After hours of wandering through the woods, they were met by TODD.
"Well well well, you came crawling back to me."
"Wait, you were stalking us?"
BB had gotten the feeling of somebody watching him several times, but he just choked it up to paranoia brought on by trauma.
"Of course I was. See, I record your adventures and sell them as movies."
It was a good business model, and BB was in a cold sweat. It was only a matter of time until they had to do something to help TODD and eventually, he would scratch their backs as well.
"Just tell us what you want, and we'll get it."
"A good time travel story."
They walked through the doors and awaited their orders. BB took time to write in his journal.
We've lost. After all these years of treating those brats well, it all went to Hell.
