Chapter 8 - 08 - Snakes

"Alright… I think I can get used to this lifestyle quickly." He said as he stepped out of the bushes. Asia once again needed some time to compose herself before facing the world again.

Not just her appearance, but her lascivious scent was all too evident.

He coughed, glancing at the system windows once more.

"I could get used to this too…" he said with a satisfied smile. For a moment, he pondered whether he should head to Kuoh Academy first or explore adventure mode.

But then he shrugged. He knew it was better to set lust aside for a while—he wanted to build up his desire and unleash it all at once. The wait would certainly pay off.

He then switched to adventure mode.

"Adventure mode will pit me against some waves of common enemies and then a boss. Considering the start of the story, this must be Raynare." He murmured as he read.

He also noticed that, depending on the current state of his relationships, he could bring companions along. At that moment, he could bring Asia to fight the fallen angels with him.

"Well… let's give it a try." He said, requesting the system to enter the first level.

In the blink of an eye, the world changed—a new scenario unfolded before him. This time, he was inside an abandoned warehouse, moonlight seeping through the building's broken windows.

A strange sliding sound reached his ears, and then a window appeared before him:

"Nothing too complicated." He said, glancing back. Asia had followed him, but she wore a serious face. Her eyes seemed lifeless. It was clear this wasn't the same Asia as before.

He didn't try to talk to her, and she didn't try to talk to him. Soon, he summoned his Sacred Gear. The sensation felt strangely natural, then the gauntlet wrapped around him.

He then looked at the building's pillars, where large, thick snakes were clearly coiled. Their upper bodies were completely human—too human—sending a shiver down Issei's spine.

"Snakussy," he muttered in surprise. "Asia! Watch my back." Without thinking further, he dashed toward the pillars. His body felt strangely more agile than before.

He could feel his strength had greatly increased over the last few hours, but he still wanted to grow even stronger. As such, he requested the system to boost his strength and speed.

To the monsters watching, he soon became a blur. In the blink of an eye, he reached the pillar and slammed his fist into it, making the creatures scream as it collapsed.

Issei watched as debris and humanoid snakes fell without fear. The whole scene felt natural to him. He quickly rushed to the nearest one and, with a single strike, sent it flying into a wall, breaking it on impact.

"Damn, that hurts!" he muttered, feeling the sting in his hand after the punch. Surprisingly, the wall had been softer than the monstrous creature's face. Taking advantage of the opening, another demon slithered toward him.

Its long claws swiped in a smooth motion, aiming to slice his head off—and struck him. A smile spread across the demon's lips before it realized no blood was falling from his body.

His image was cut apart like smoke—it was only an afterimage! The demon recoiled in shock as he clicked his tongue beside her, a smug grin on his face, before sending her flying with a kick.

"Arrogant snake, did you really think I'd die that easily? You should've brought at least five at once!" He laughed before looking to the side, where five of those snake demons now surrounded him.

"Me and my big mouth." He said as he saw them lunging at him, their serpent jaws wide open, rows of teeth glinting as they closed in. Clearly, there was nowhere to escape—yet he only smiled.

Power surged in his legs before he leapt, the demonic snakes crashing into each other midair and injuring themselves. From high above, he scanned the chaotic scene below, then glanced to the side.

Two of the snakes had climbed opposing pillars and immediately launched themselves at him. Suspended in the air once more, it seemed there was no escape—and yet again, he only smiled.

He twisted his core, channeling all his energy into his legs, and then kicked one snake while grabbing the other by the fangs, hurling it far into the distance.

The impact echoed loudly, clouds of dust billowing high into the air. Even so, he never lost focus for a second. He had tracked five of the demonic snakes below him—but where was the last one?

He landed, keeping their positions in mind, but that missing one still gnawed at his thoughts. From the shadows, it slithered closer, its massive body wrapping tightly around him, suffocating him.

He growled, feeling the constriction as its huge mouth opened above his head, ready to bite down. He looked cornered—but then he remembered: he still hadn't used Boost.

Immediately, his gauntlet gleamed, his strength multiplying in an instant. With a powerful thrust, he spread his arms wide, forcing the creature off him. Realizing the situation had changed, the snake tried to flee.

But he seized its tail, swung it several times in rapid succession, then hurled it like a cannonball into the others.

The last three stared at him in despair. In one swift movement, he dashed to the first, his fist obliterating its head. With another step, he reached the second, a kick sending it flying.

Facing the final one, he delivered a crushing uppercut and smiled triumphantly. The snake shot skyward, smashing through the warehouse roof and revealing the pale moonlight that cast a glow over his face.
