Vampires were a reclusive race sticking to their own solar system that had multiple planets for them to expand to without needing to venture out into the rest of the Galaxy. This solar system was unique as the central star was a brown dwarf which gave off the least amount of light which allowed the vampires to move freely on the planets unlike most stars that were significantly brighter and caused the vampires to become weakened.
The Galactic Federation a thousand cycles ago signed a treaty with King Vladimir to have their solar system removed from all public records and that vampires were to become mythical.
Another part of the treaty was that criminals given the death penalty who were not to be publicly executed would be ported to vampire prison cells that the vampires would then use to consume their blood.
For each prisoner sent they would be copied by Count Jeers who had the ability to clone a being he would touch up to 10 of them. They would then get 11 lives out of each prisoner. So the prison cells were set up in Count Jeers' Castle which also meant the bar at Jeers was the best place to get blood on the planet.
This made Count Jeers one of the most popular Counts out of the 10. That and the bartenders were the most beautiful vampire bartenders alive. Many male vampires lost bets trying to pick up one of them but always failed.
They had long ago captured a Sandarian that Jeers had preserved its blood for hundreds of cycles and the champion of the annual Ultimate Vampire Challenge or what they affectionately called a UVC Champ, would get a shot of the Sandarian blood.
Each previous UVC Champ would swear by how incredible the shot tasted. Little did they know that Sandarian blood gave them a permanent boost to their vitality. They only ever had the one as Sandarians were considered too vital of a warrior to be sent to prison. In their case it was a trap set by a vengeful human not knowing the end result.
The vampiric empire had one major settlement around the King's Castle that all the Counts had all their own chamber to rest in if needed. They each had their own settlements around the planet that their chamber had a portal to. Each door to the chamber had a dna lock to the Count that only the Count could access the chamber. Not even the King could access these chambers without the Count giving access.
For a thousand cycles they had a peace that had made their lives much easier as well as the fact that they could expand their population without war dwindling their numbers. Restless vampires were given strict commands to never reveal themselves to the Galaxy but were free to leave and explore.
For the last 100 cycles they had created a system for the restless to get a taste of adventure as well as get themselves equipment to survive the galaxy. They had discovered a beast on another planet in the solar system that its core would be forged into an amulet.
The amulet gave them two things that were needed. One it changed their smell to smell like a human, which for vampires meant they couldn't find themselves in the galaxy just from smell. The second was it gave them resistance to solar activity, which would weaken them physically to that of a human.
They also found another beast on Dracula that had a special pouch on its body. It was a flying beast that resembled a stork from Hell. Its wings were webbed skin instead of feathers. The distinguishing stork pouch behind the beak on this beast was able to hold anything forever in perfect condition.
Long ago the vampires discovered they could store large amounts of blood in this pouch and it would stay good forever. They also discovered that they could capture the beast, cut the pouch, and give the beast some of their own blood and the pouch would grow back quickly.
One test was done and it was figured out that it would take 10 days for the pouch to fully grow back to working correctly and in those 10 days the stork like beast would be raging trying to get out of anything you kept it in. They determined it made more sense to simply remove the pouch and free the creature to regrow it and be captured again later by another vampire.
The vast majority of vampires would never leave the confines of their settlement. They didn't need to and most could do all that they wanted to do in the settlement themselves. The biggest advantage of staying in a settlement was the constant supply of blood available.
Vampires no longer ate food, they only consumed blood. The older vampires consumed less and less blood as they learned to need it less. Most would drink enough for their own fill and stop not wanting anything in excess. Most vampires only knew that consuming the blood of the beasts in their solar system would cause them to become "Crazed".
Most vampires on Dracula were under a thousand cycles old so most did not know about their mortal enemies werewolves. Those that are old enough to remember the last invasion by the werewolves would venture out a lot less and demand more defensive measures be put in place.
The annual festival of peace known as "Jamboree" was also a big day for the reproduction of the vampires. Vampires conceived on Jamboree were born the same week in the cycle we're known as Jamboree Babies.
Vampires grew up similar to humans and would be full grown by 10 cycles. The difference was vampire babies were born with their mother's memories and knowledge as it was passed through right before birth. So a brand new baby while trying to figure out how to speak, walk, move in general, it would not take it long to develop into its own personality usually similar to their mother's at first but then changing drastically by the time they are 5 cycles.
Vampires also developed their abilities at their 8th cycle like humans but their ability was almost always the same as their mothers so females with powerful abilities were always the most sought after vampire brides for the Counts and their most loyal subjects. At one point in their history a powerful female vampire would cause wars to break out to obtain or make sure the other doesn't obtain the chance to create more powerful offspring.
King Vladimir was always looking for the perfect bride, he would turn human females knowing they would lose their ability but also had figured out that they would develop their vampire ability to be equally as powerful. He currently had 13 wives and all of which had produced multiple offspring. Upon each of them turning 8, developed powerful abilities but one thing was also happening, the King had zero male offspring.
The King's daughters totaled just shy of 100, at 99 and many joked that the 100th was going to be a male. Imagine being the guy with 99 older sisters for the rest of eternity, was one of the common jokes. While jokes about the King's lack of males were commonplace, the advancements of the bold towards the King's daughters were not as common. Only the Counts ever really got to know them or get to interact with them enough to make an advance on them and each of them knew not to fraternize with the King's daughters. So far no count had even dared try to procure one for themselves which left the rest of the vampiric empire doing the same.
