Chapter 2 - calm of the storm

The chaos of the festival was long behind them—

now just a memory swallowed by smoke and silence.

Dante and Ada walked through the quiet streets, the city lights flickering faintly above.

he exhaled, finally letting go of the tension that had been holding his body

hostage.

Sweat rolled down his forehead as the adrenaline began to fade, leaving behind only exhaustion.

He leaned forward, hands on his knees, his chest heaving as he struggled to catch his breath.

Ada glanced at him from the corner of her eye—expression sharp but curious.

Close-up: the corner of her mouth twitched upward into a faint smirk.

A moment later, she crossed her arms and broke the silence.

"Don't you think we should get outta here? You know—public transportation?"

Dante groaned and slumped down onto a nearby bench, rubbing his temples.

"Ughhh, really? After everything that just happened, you wanna go by train?"

Ada raised a brow, unimpressed.

"Hell yeah, we're going by train. What, you got a problem with that?"

Dante rolled his eyes and muttered, "You're unbelievable…"

She smirked. "Takes one to know one."

He knows better than anyone that questioning Ada's decisions would only lead to another frustrating argument.

With a sigh of resignation, Dante finally gives in.

"Alright then... we'll go by train. Since you're so sure about it, I guess."

Ada smirks, victorious, and smacks his shoulder.

He lets out a sharp "Hey!", wincing.

She chuckles and shakes her head.

"Come on, let's go. Stop being such a weakling, pretty boy. Don't tell me you're just gonna use that charisma of yours on the vultures again, huh?"

What are you talking about? I can do way more than just use charisma as a weapon! Did you see how I was beating up those vultures? That was totally awesome!"

Ada laughs again, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, sure, whatever you say, pretty boy. Now get your lazy a$$ up—we're leaving."

She smirks one last time before turning toward the subway entrance, her coat brushing past her legs as she walks.

Dante mutters under his breath but still follows, his expression caught somewhere between annoyance and amusement.

"Man… she's impossible."
