Chapter 13 - The Future, The Past, The Present

Months have passed since the Ceq siege and the death of Mihel and Ferentus. Folga, devastated by the losses of the war, begins their journey to rebuild their kingdom. The counts and lords have managed to stay united under the Folga banner. A number of counts led an assault on Ceq eliminating the few soldiers who were left behind retaking their capital. Shortly after lords go to Neer inspiring the soldiers and militia causing them to defect leading to Neer peacefully returning under the control of Folga.

Afrium has continued to raid villages on the border of Afrium and what remains of Osmon. Osmon has fallen deeper. Now split into three nations after Mihel's death. Mihel's son, loyal as he ever was, leads what remains of Osmon on the border Rer and Afrium, along with the rebelling nation of Rasequ who allied with Klasned, another rebelling nation. Klasned has begun to receive pressure from Afrium to serve under Folga's banner or else suffer the raids that have befelled what remains of Osmon.

Godwine and Celina have been jumping from contract to contract for Osmon, Afrium and the two rebelling states. Tasha has taken a step back still participating with Godwine and Celina but has grown to detest the violence turning help with logistics and expanding their operations to make it more than just a tiny group of friends and into a true merc group.

Tasha stands talking with a man and a woman standing behind her. The woman wears armor of medium weight with a curved sword at his side. The man has a bow strapped on his back with a small dagger at his side wearing light armor and a cloak. They are all gathered around a table in a small house rented out with the little money they could set aside for housing.

Godwine and Celina enter the home slightly bloodied. Godwine sets a pouch done on the table as coins flood out of it. "We need to get out of this place. It's become too dangerous," Godwine grabs a cloth and begins to clean the blood off Celina. "Or at least relocate to Rer or even Folga. If Afrium begins to raid Klasned we will likely be caught in the crossfire or become overworked."

"I agree with Godwine Tasha, we are already getting too many contracts to keep up with. This conflict is also reaching the point that it is possible that the ice mountains may get involved," Celina says as Godwine finishes cleaning the blood. Celina turns and begins to clean the blood off Godwine.

Tasha turns, looking at a map of the continent. She sighs as she rubs her temples. "I agree just Afrium is too much of a wildcard right now. Rumors are spreading of a war between Batanta and Nulfond if we head there we could find contracts but we would have to cross Afrium. Rer is currently in a peace time so we could head there the only problem being we would have to cross Rasequ and Osmon."

The man walks next to Tasha looking at the map with her. "I come from Krus so I had to pass through Rer to get here and I can say while Rer may be in a time of peace the people themselves are not," the man looks at Tasha as he continues. "There is currently infighting between the queen's vassals. Why they're fighting I have no idea but they are."

The woman walks over to a wall leaning against it. "Afrium does intend to raid Klasned if they don't join Folga. They want any remnants of Osmon gone."

"Do they intend to leave this land, barren Folga will likely abandon Klasned's land and simply bring the citizens to Neer and other cities?" Celina looks at the woman as she questions.

"Afrium fully blames losing the only hope this continent had on Osmon so I wouldn't be surprised if that is what they want," the woman shrugs as she looks away.

"Yeah and Rer blamed it on us for corrupting their minds or something," the man scoffs as he turns unsheathing his blade, placing it on a table. "The leaders of Krus were saying it was on Rer for leading them the wrong way."

Tasha turns to look at the two of them. She sighs as she looks at Godwine. "Sorry for not introducing them yet Godwine but these are the two I found for what we talked about," Tasha walks over to the woman. "This is Katelyn she didn't wish to say where she came from other than that she is from Afrium. She is an experienced sniper who is able to easily land just about any shot. I believe she would be a great support for you and Celina."

Godwine nods looking at her and her bow. "Nice to meet you, Miss Katelyn I assume you are wanting to join," Katelyn nods as she looks away. "You do not have to talk if you do not wish to just follow orders and that is all I ask."

Katelyn scoffs as Godwine and Tasha walk over to the man who is running a sharpening stone across his blade inspecting it as he goes. "Names Elias. Good to meet you sir Godwine," Elias smiles as he straps his sword to his side looking at Godwine. "I come from the nation of Krus, served as a caravan guard for a while but my group disbanded due to trust issues so I came here in search of the great Godwine and his mercs, and by the looks of it I found them."

Godwine stands impressed. "Well I'm glad you found us, and thank you for the introduction."

Celina walks over to Katelyn. "How long have you been a sniper level archer?" Katelyn stands straight up looking at Celina.

"Are you doubting my skills?" Katelyn steps closer to Celina getting close to her face.

"No not all I'm simply curious on how long you've been this good for," Celina attempts to diffuse the situation as she feels Katelyn's breath hit her face.

"It has been years since I started being referred to as a sniper. Are you happy now?" Katelyn takes a step back leaning back against the wall.

"Sorry I didn't mean to offend you at all," Celina sits down at the table looking at Godwine and Tasha. "Anyways you figured out where we are heading next yet?"

"We should go to Rer get out of here before it all falls apart," Godwine looks at Tasha who nods.

"I see nothing wrong with that and we will likely find good work in Rer and can learn where to go next.," Tasha says as she walks upstairs. "Godwine and Celina share a room and I'm on my own. There is a room for each of you downstairs but don't get comfortable. We leave tomorrow, and Godwine. No contracts till we reach wherever we are staying in Rer got it?" Godwine gives a simple nod before Tasha opens the door to her room. "Goodnight y'all."
