Just then, the sound of somebody clearing their throat came from the door. It was Captain Larcon. "If you guys are done horsing around, Mr. and Mrs. Wright are here to formally identify the body." Just then, Oliver Wright and his wife, Jenny Wright, were led by Captain Larcon. He brought them over to see the body of David Wright.
"Mr. and Mrs. Wright, I know this must be hard for you, but could you confirm that the person lying here is indeed your son, David?"
Oliver Wright's voice shattered as he spoke, "y..yeyes... that's our son, David." He choked back a gut-wrenching sob, his body convulsing with grief.
Jenny clung to him, her own body wracked with anguished cries. "Oh, David... my poor sweet boy," she wailed, her voice piercing the somber atmosphere.
Captain Larcon's expression was a mask of compassion, his eyes welling up with tears. "I'm so sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Wright. I can only imagine your pain." He paused, collecting himself before continuing, "Can you tell me... when you last saw your son David?"
Oliver Wright's eyes dropped, his voice barely above a whisper. "Yesterday... around 5 p.m. He had just left our family company and was heading home to change. He was going out, wanted to have some fun in his new card that has grandfather bought for him."
Jenny Wright's voice trembled as she added, "He was excited he looked so happy . We didn't think anything was wrong."
The room fell silent, heavy with grief and unanswered questions.
Detective Decker's expression was somber as step forward and asked, "Can you think of anyone who might want to harm you or your son?"
Oliver Wright hesitated, exchanging a glance with his wife. "Well, there has been some... intense competition in the business world lately. Our company and Green Realty have been competing for the same contracts, and things have gotten quite competitive."
Jenny Wright added, "The Greens are a prominent family in the real estate industry, and their company is a major player in the market. We've had to get creative to stay ahead."
Decker's eyes were attentive. "I see. Can you tell me more about your relationship with the Green family and their company?"
Oliver Wright nodded. "It's strictly business. We've had our share of wins and losses, but nothing out of the ordinary."
The Green family... they're one of the most influential and affluent families in Draco Vill, with a vast portfolio of properties and businesses. Green Realty, their flagship company, has been a cornerstone of the local real estate industry for decades. They're known for their shrewd business tactics and high-end properties. Harrison Green, as a member of the family, is likely a key player in the company.
"Detective, I appreciate your efforts in investigating the circumstances surrounding our son's death. However, my wife and I would like to conclude our statement for now. We need to attend to arrangements for our son's funeral and would appreciate it if we could be excused."
"Before we depart, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for my father's behavior earlier. As you're aware, we're all still grappling with the loss of David, and I believe his reaction was a manifestation of our collective grief. Please know that it's not indicative of our usual demeanor or respect for this investigation."Oliver said.
"We understand your pain, Mr. Wright. Rest assured, we'll do everything in our power to bring your son's killer to justice," Captain Larcon said, his face stern with determination.
"Oliver's thoughts turned dark as he thought to himself, 'They have no idea. I've already taken matters into my own hands. Whoever killed my son won't be brought to justice through their efforts, but through mine.'"
Shortly after the Wrights left, Captain Larcon turned to his team, his expression grim. "Alright, let's get down to business. We need to review the case files, interview witnesses, and track down any potential leads. I want to know everything about the victim's last days, his associates, and any potential enemies."
Detective Decker nodded, taking notes. "I'll start canvassing the area, see if anyone witnessed anything suspicious. I'll also interview the family friends who were at the scene and get a list of the victim's acquaintances."
The investigation was heating up, and the team was ready to work tirelessly to solve the case.
Meanwhile, Shadow Snake tracked down Boss Josh and his crew inside an abandoned warehouse.
Inside the warehouse, Boss Josh and his crew were busy dividing the loot. They had received $5,000 from Mike and added it to the $2,000 they found on David's wallet. The total amount was $7,000, which they were now splitting five ways.
As Shadow Snake was about to dispatch them all, he stopped in his tracks. He heard Boss Josh say something interesting: "Man, I'm glad we listened to that guy at the bar when he told us to rob that arrogant bastard. We walked away with seven thousand dollars, and barely any scratches on us."
"Boss Josh, who was that guy at the bar, anyway?" Josa asked. "I don't think I've ever seen him in the club before."
"I don't know if we should be celebrating. His last words were, 'we signed our death certificates.' What if his family finds out it was us who killed him?" Frankly asked with an uneasy expression.
"Frankly is right, we should get out of town," Kyle chimed in.
"This is interesting. Who is this guy they met at the bar? And why would he tell them to rob and kill the Young Master?" I need to gather more information before I make my move. "Dead man, Josh, you are lucky you get to live a little longer, just until I find out who set you up to do this."
Shadow Snake thought to himself. Then He turned away, disappearing into the shadows, whistling "wind the crank on the jack-in-the-box," which sounded more like a haunted melody.
Boss Josh and his crew heard the whistling, but they did not know where it was coming from. It sent a chill down their spines.
Boss Josh's voice trembled slightly as he asked, "Did you guys hear that just now?" His crew exchanged nervous glances, their faces pale in the dim light. "Hear what, boss?" one of them replied, but the uncertainty in his tone betrayed his attempt at confidence.
Meanwhile, back at the police station, an anonymous call was made to the 911operator.
"Hello, 911, what's your emergency?"
"Hello, and a good day to you ma'am, I-I need to report something weird... I was jogging past this warehouse on the outskirts of the city last night, and I heard these really disturbing noises coming from it."
"What kind of noises? Can you stay calm and tell me what you heard?"
"It sounded like... people screaming, and this awful clattering, like screens or something. It was super loud and freaky. I don't know what's going on, but I thought you guys should know. It really freaked me out."
"Sir, can you please provide more information? What's your name and what's happening at the warehouse?"
"Uh, I don't want to get involved, okay? Just... just check it out. It's Mike's Auto Shop on 5th Dragons Avenue. Please, just go check it out."
"Wait, sir—"
(pause, followed by a click as the caller hangs up)
"Call dropped," the operator says, then turns to her supervisor. "We've got a possible disturbance at Mike's Auto Shop on 5th Dragons Avenue. Caller reported hearing screams and weird noises."
The supervisor's expression turns serious. "What's the caller's number?"
The operator shakes her head. "Blocked number, ma'am. I'm trying to see if I can get a location or anything from the call, but..."
The supervisor nods. "Get it traced. Now. And get dispatch to send someone to Mike's Auto Shop ASAP."
The supervisor's voice is firm and commanding. "Get the call traced, and I want to know everything about Mike's Auto Shop. Any priors? Any suspicious activity reported in the area?"
The operator nods quickly, fingers flying across the keyboard as she works to gather more information. "Yes, ma'am. I'm checking now."
The supervisor turns to another operator nearby. "Get in touch with dispatch, have them send a unit to Mike's Auto Shop on 5th Dragons Avenue. Priority one."
The operator nods, already on the radio, relaying the supervisor's instructions to dispatch.
The police radio crackles to life with the operator's urgent voice:
"Attention all available units, we have a possible disturbance at Mike's Auto Shop, 5th Dragons Avenue. All available units, please respond. We have a report of screams and unusual noises coming from the location. Use caution, approach with caution."
The radios erupt with a chorus of responses from various units:
*Unit 12 (Officers DonCarlos and Brian)*: "Unit 12 responding, en route to Mike's Auto Shop. ETA 3 minutes."
*Unit 5 (Officers O'Connor and Owens)*: "Unit 5 responding, we're in the vicinity. We'll be there in 2 minutes."
The operator's voice comes back over the radio, "Roger that, units. Officers DonCarlos and Brian, and Officers O'Connor and Owens, please approach the location with caution. We'll await your report on the situation."
