Chapter 5 - Legacy Questline, Book of Tyrant's Crowns

[Congratulations, you have won a reward in the 0.1% chance category! It is an S-rank Artifact—Cloak of Darkness.]

"Oh?" Zed blinked. He checked the artifact right away.

[Cloak of Darkness]

Rank: S

Effect:

—> Upon wearing the cloak, you will turn completely invisible. Your presence, smell, and sound will vanish. You can also observe clearly in the dark.

—> At the cost of 10 Spirit per second, you can enter any darkness in ethereal form and observe from there.

"Damn. This is good."

Zed stored it away and proceeded to use the fourth Lucky Draw ticket.

[Congratulations. You have won a C-rank Skill, Healing Hands.]

'A healing skill? Not bad.'

[Healing Hands]

Rank: C

Cost: 5 Spirit per second.

Effect:

—Your hands will be enchanted with the power of healing, capable of mending injuries and alleviating pain. Using this on people with more than 100 Vigor will increase the cost by 10 times, and 20 times if it's used on people with more than 200 Vigor, and so on.

'So this skill uses Spirit instead of Ki.'

[Yes. This skill transforms your spirit energy into the power of healing.]

'Nice. But I hope I get some cool skill in the next draw. Something like that Void Snap.' Zed grinned and used the last ticket as the slot machine started spinning.

[Congratulations. You have acquired an A-rank item, Emberstone Dagger.]

'Oh, bummer. But it's an A-rank. It should be good.'

[Emberstone Dagger]

Rank: A

Equipment Perk:

—> +20% movement speed.

—> +20% action speed.

—> +20% extra fire damage.

Effect:

—> (Flaming Arc): Slashing the dagger in the air will release a fire-attributed slash projectile at the cost of 100 Spirit. The faster you swing, the faster the projectile.

—> (Exploding Point): A flaming explosion can be initiated from the tip of the dagger in a forward cone direction with a range of 2 meters at the cost of 100 Spirit.

'Nice. But I don't have enough Spirit energy to even use the effects.'

Zed put away the dagger and checked the system. 'I need to get my stats up.'

[Please check the | Quest | tab, My lord.]

'Alright. I'll check that Book of Tyrant's Crowns after that.'

Zed opened the | Quest | tab, and a new interface popped up.

[Quest]

< Legacy Questline: Path of the Tyrant >

< Main Quest > (23 hours until the next Main Quest)

< Side Quest > (1 can be generated)

'Whoa?' Zed was surprised. He first checked the most eye-catching tab.

[Legacy Questline: Path of the Tyrant]

—You were a Tyrant who decided right and wrong in the world yourself. A Tyrant who never let other people dominate his will. The whole reality turned against you at a point, and you still carved your path as per your desire, even though that ended up killing you. But now you are reborn, and so it is time you carve your path once again.

(1) Legacy Quest: First Step.

Objectives:

—> If someone messes with you, get back at them. (0/1)

—> If someone offends you, deal with them according to your desire. (0/1)

—> If you think someone deserves death, kill them. (0/1)

—> If you think someone deserves to live, save them. (0/1)

Rewards:

—> 2nd Legacy Quest.

—> 1000 U.R points.

—> 5 x Lucky Draw tickets.

—> 1 x Elemental Seed Selector Box.

'Damn.' Zed was a bit speechless but thrilled as well. 'And I guess that Elemental Seed is quite valuable and powerful, right?'

[Yes, my lord. An Elemental Seed forms when a person becomes attuned to an element. People can nurture the seed to further stages with training and resources to gain higher mastery and power over the element.]

'Well, I suppose I can complete this quest soon. University is a good place for this.' Zed grinned.

'Now then, time to check the book.'

Zed licked his lips in anticipation as he accessed the Inventory and took out the book.

"Whoa."

Zed looked at the small book with exotic designs and lively patterns as if they were alive.

The cover had an abstract art of a man on a throne with long black hair, sitting like a tyrant.

"Is that me?" Zed blinked.

[That you are, my lord. Your past self. You will regain memories as you get stronger because your current lifeform is far too weak to bear the memories and names of powerful beings you once knew.]

"Interesting." Zed slowly opened the book and arrived at the first stage, which had an exotic crown made of tiny vines entangled around small tree-shaped spikes, with colorful gems embedded in them.

[Crown Vorganfang Zeno]

"It's a live picture of a crown. But what can I do with it? And what is this book anyway? Why did I make it?"

[My lord, these crowns are made from the beings you have slain in the past. Not just any beings, but beings of the ninth realm who had reached the pinnacle of reality. Although you made them for decoration, they contain substantial powers that you can use now, which is why #### made some adjustments in the system and added the book as your first Main Quest reward.]

"Wait, what did you say? Who made adjustments?" Zed frowned. The system didn't say 'you,' so it wasn't him who did this.

And he remembered talking to some light, but that memory was fuzzy.

[I cannot take that being's name. I cannot utter names of beings in the ninth realm, as it would alert them, and we would be erased by your enemies.]

"My enemies… so I already have enemies up there?"

[That you do, my lord. But you are safe, as everyone in the ninth realm is going to get busy because the consequences of the action you took 1.37 billion years ago have arrived.]

Zed wryly smiled. "What did I do?"

[I cannot mention that. It is too dangerous for you to know about it right now.]

"Well damn. I'd better focus on the present anyway."

[Yes. Surviving, thriving, and getting stronger is your main quest.]

"You bet I am going to thrive." Zed clenched his fist as he grinned. "I've had enough of being weak my entire life."

[All 648 million lives you have lived have been of suffering and despair by design. This would not have been any different if not for the bet you lost against ####, which prompted the system to form and activate.]

Zed: "…"

"Well, past is past, present is present. I'm gonna live my life to the fullest. Now tell me, how do I use this crown?"

[You just need to drop a bit of your blood on the crown to bind your soul with it and make it your Soul Artifact. Surviving will be easy once you acquire the power of this crown.]

'Let's see what I get.' Zed pricked his finger from inside using Ki energy with his control and dropped a few drops of his blood on the crown.

The crown glowed briefly and then vanished into Zed's body.
