Chapter 19 - Glimpse into the Future

I was surrounded in the darkness, chains wrapped around my body, making me unable to move. My eyes had lost life, and my will to survive no longer exists. Everything vanished in the dark sea.

Now, what remained with me were just these chaotic thoughts, which continued to remind me that this isn't peace, but suffering. This feeling of nothingness, I had always been used to, but the only difference was my current situation.

Now, I am no longer free, though I wasn't free to begin with, but at least I had the illusion of being free. That illusion had shattered, leaving me no way out.

As I was drawn into this sea of suffering, a low voice entered my ears. It was almost inaudible, yet it ignited the deepest memories in my mind.

"This voice…" Life returned to my dead eyes, and a beautiful vision unfolded in front of me.

A cute little black bird waved through the broken building, drifting with the wind. He was coming straight towards me. I stretched my hands to touch him. He just brushed past me.

I turned around my gaze following the bird, but once I turned, light was lost, the sky turned dark with a fiery bird flying high into the sky.

The sky was completely blank, except for a bird covered in flame flying high above, tearing through all darkness, creating its own way out in this hopeless void.

The bird escaped from the darkness, creating a way for me to move forward. If not for these chains binding me. My eyes focused on the distant world in specks of light, which created a small window for me to see the outside world.

'Alina'

I saw a girl staring at me. This scene looked so familiar, but…

"What are you staring at?" I heard a voice.

'This voice, it's mine.'

"Nothing." She replied and continued.

This scene looks so familiar yet different. My thoughts started to become chaotic again; the peace had been stolen again.

'Maybe, this suffering is what gives me life. Without pain, there is no me, just a dead shell. Is this kind of life really worth living?'

"Whatever, if I am not wrong, then there is still a chance for me." I didn't let my thoughts drift any longer, quickly coming to a conclusion and thinking about my blank future, which hadn't blanked out completely.

Well, the nightmare method was really terrifying. I didn't expect it to be this much of reality-bending, like it didn't even follow the laws of life and death.

"Death is life, and Life is death."

The truth nightmare cultivation method is really terrifying, mending with the laws of creation.

The vision I was seeing changed, as it moved out of the dining room and moved towards my room upstairs, like I was watching the scene from my own eyes, but the controller was someone else. I was just a spectator watching even myself. The thing I was experiencing was hard to describe, because it shouldn't be like this in the first place.

'Well, I was the one who wanted to be a spectator. Now, I have become one. A true spectator.'

The vision continued, climbing stairs to open my room's door and enter inside. It was completely in the sink just like usual.

Suddenly, the vision vanished, everything turning completely black again, darkness stretching across the horizon. This time, darkness wasn't still; the black fog started to move, as the ripples appeared in the blank sea.

A figure walked out from the darkness, his eyes glowing crimson with a slight smile on his face.

"How long are you planning to suffer for?" He asked me, his voice was calm, yet brought strange chills to my soul.

"Until it all ends," I replied to him in a flat tone. He couldn't do anything to me, nor could I do anything to him.

"You know, I am you, the true you. How long are you planning to live with this fake identity? Just let go of your obsession." He spoke again, his voice making my body shiver. It was fear, a fear which I couldn't let go of, nor could I accept it.

"You already know I won't," I replied despite the fear; my voice remained calm. The only reason I was able to maintain my composure was that I had always known sooner or later this day would come.

It was just that I didn't expect that meeting would be my death sentence. Even when I was prepared for the worst, I still didn't imagine it to reach a life and death stage without even letting me speak.

"It's your choice, suffering is what you chose." He spoke with a light laugh.

I just continued to stare at him, imprisoned in these black chains. He stood in front of me, laughing at me, then suddenly he paused and waved his hand. Darkness was replaced by another vivid dream.

Broken buildings, fire spreading everywhere, millions of people running for their lives, and the sky filled with strange black creatures targeting humans. A beautiful lady in a black dress with a crimson necklace hanging on her neck stood in the black clouds ordering these creatures to kill humans, no exception, man, woman, kids and elderly people, all becoming their food.

The sky wasn't the only thing that had turned into hell, but the ground, too, had become hell; millions of hand corpses were attacking humans; every single person who was dying was increasing their number. The world was turning into a true living hell; amidst all the chaos, a face caught my eye.

"Alina!" I saw a giant hand coming from the sky, grabbing onto hundreds of people and squeezing them into pulp, and among these people was also Alina. Because of her, I almost lost my composure, but quickly controlled myself. After all, it was just an illusion.
