At 2:30 PM, the bell rings through the school's loudspeakers, indicating the end of the day's classes, and not even a moment after that, a sea of students floods the hallway, among them was Jimmy, carrying his backpack over one shoulder.
Walking nimbly through the students, Jimmy comes across Algernon leaving a classroom.
Jimmy greets him briefly before continuing to walk, but Algernon seems to have a different idea, as he follows him.
"Jimmy, you know Melvin, right?", Algie asks while walking awkwardly beside Jimmy.
"Yes, I know him, why?", Jimmy responds while continuing to walk. Melvin is one of the students he met this month. He is part of the Nerds, he's a fat kid, but not as much as Algie, has combed blond hair and wears glasses.
"Well, it's just that we noticed that you're interested in the same things as us... and it's kind of no secret that the teachers adore you for being a good student...", Algie begins to ramble while stuttering, never getting to the point he wanted.
Interrupting him, Jimmy says as he walks out of the hallways into the school's entrance hall, "Stop stalling, man! I don't bite, spit it out already."
"So, we play G&G... I mean, Grottos and Gremlins... I mean, Tabletop RPG... I mean, RPG is a role-playing game...", swallowing dryly, Algie nods as he starts to explain, only to get more tangled up thinking that Jimmy might not know what he was talking about.
Cutting him off before he could continue, Jimmy says, briefly stopping to look at Algie before walking again toward the exit, "I know what Tabletop RPG is; you don't need to explain it to me."
Completely embarrassed and awkward, Algie finally gets to where he wanted to, inviting Jimmy to play a G&G campaign, which is basically a parody of D&D, with them, "Right, what I mean is that Melvin DMs most of our campaigns, and he's preparing a new campaign to start at the end of next month! Everyone who's going to participate in the table knows you, so we thought, why not invite you to play? So... that's kind of what I'm doing now... hehe!"
"End of next month? Alright, I'll play", after pondering for a few seconds, Jimmy accepts the invitation. I mean, it seemed fun; he had never played Tabletop RPG before. Lucas, on the other hand, had a lot, so why not try, right?
"That's it! Alright, you're going to have to build your character with Melvin, but that doesn't take long, so relax", briefly celebrating, Algie follows him out of the school while warning him about what would happen now that he had agreed to play.
Stopping in front of the stairs at the entrance of the main building, Jimmy says calmly, "Okay, so tell Melvin I accepted, and then tell me where I can find him to build my character."
"Alright, but I think Melvin is going to end up going to see you in the dorm once he finds out you accepted the invitation", Algie says, already imagining what Melvin would do.
"Fine by me, just tell him not to come today, I won't be in the dorm, I have some things to do", Jimmy shrugs, just warning him that they probably wouldn't find him at the dorm today.
After that, Jimmy says goodbye before walking back to the boys' dorm.
A click later, he opens the door of his room just enough to toss his backpack inside before closing it again.
With that done, he heads to the gym, trying to find Mandy; once he gets there, Jimmy doesn't even need to go inside to find her.
Seeing Mandy leaving the building, Jimmy calls her, "Hey, Mandy."
"Well, look who it is. What do you want, Jimmy? You haven't talked to me since that day, and that was almost a month ago. What changed now?", turning her attention to Jimmy, Mandy asks, upset that he hadn't even tried to talk to her after that day.
"I didn't know you liked me that much to get upset just because I didn't come talk to you!", letting out a huff, Jimmy comments teasingly.
Making a disgusted face, Mandy responds, trying to fix her slip-up, "Eww, no! I'm just annoyed that you didn't come update me on things."
"Right, of course I believe that! Anyway, it's happening today", not believing what Mandy said, Jimmy informs her about the execution of the plan that would take place that same day.
Easily understanding what he meant by that, Mandy asks after a brief silence, "...Can I help?"
"Better not", Jimmy responds. The old man had taken care of everything, and basically, none of the preparations were made with her in mind.
"Hmph... It's not like I cared about this anyway", indignant at the way she was being treated, Mandy huffs, trying to look like she didn't care much about what Jimmy said.
Rolling his eyes, Jimmy says goodbye before turning and leaving, "Yeah, yeah! Anyway, I have to go help the old man with everything."
Then, after walking a bit more, Jimmy reaches the school parking lot and approaches the gate while paying attention to the movement of the people around him.
With his back against the gate, Jimmy watches the parking lot attentively, waiting for the right moment to act. And then, after a while, the moment finally arrives, the flow of people decreases drastically, and the few who were still walking around there were not looking in his direction.
In that short window of time, Jimmy jumps over the gate nimbly without any effort, not making even a hint of noise in the process. He was like a cat, silent, agile, and skilled.
Then, after jumping another gate, Jimmy lands on the asphalt outside the school smoothly.
After some time waiting at the bus stop in front of the school, Jimmy gets on the public transport and heads toward his destination, the city's industrial area.
Getting off at the bus stop, Jimmy walks for a few more minutes before reaching an abandoned warehouse.
Jumping over the wall of the place, he enters the empty warehouse, briefly looking around every corner as he heads toward the wall opposite the entrance door.
Arriving there, Jimmy slides his finger along the wall's pillar until he finds what he was looking for, a completely imperceptible button unless you knew exactly what to look for.
Pressing the button, a hexagonal concrete pillar rises from the ground beside him; as soon as it stops rising, Jimmy approaches it and opens its top like a lid, revealing a small numeric keypad along with old retinal and fingerprint scanners.
