CHAPTER 9
The name he saw on the screen was none other than Kagemura.
"How is that possible? You were supposed to be dead, I killed you; the building collapsed on top of you. How are you alive?"
The more James looked through the files, the more shocked he became, because everything, all the connections, led back to Kagemura; Ethan included everyone whose name was in those files worked for Kagemura. He realized that Kagemura was responsible for everything, that Kagemura was to blame for his family's death, that Kagemura was responsible for everything he had lived through so far; but he knew that if he wanted to take Kagemura down he first needed to gather more information. Beside Kagemura's name, Chief Inspector Alan's name kept appearing; almost every file that mentioned Kagemura, for some reason, also contained Alan's name, and the easiest person to reach was Alan. So he had to make Alan talk.
There was no time to clean his bloodied costume. He donned the old spare costume he'd left behind; he needed to make himself more costumes, because things were going to get far bloodier than before.
The old suit might cause trouble in later fights, but for now he dressed quickly and mounted his bike. When he turned the ignition, the exhaust tore through the night with a sound.
He headed toward the Chief Inspector's house; he arrived.
He left his motorcycle 500 meters back.
He scanned the house; Alan was in his study. He started climbing to the study window, reached the window and kicked it in, then leapt inside, landing on top of Alan. They fell and rolled to the floor together.
James acted before Alan. Before Alan could understand what was happening, James grabbed Alan by the nape and slammed him into the wall. Alan hit the wall and fell to the floor; as he tried to stand, James reached him in a single move and planted his foot in Alan's stomach so he couldn't get up.
"I'm going to ask you once: answer me; what are their plans? What do they want? Where will they be?"
"Hey you, what are you talking about? You break into my house and assault me; this is a violation of my home. When we catch you and we will catch you be sure you won't be getting out of here."
James lifted the man by the throat and punched him once in the stomach and twice in the face.
"Look, I ask the questions here and I'm sure you know what I'm asking; don't try to play with me, Alan."
"Look, whatever the hell you are, whatever the hell you want, I don't have it."
"First of all I am pain, I am tragedy, I am Blueshade; secondly tell me everything you know about Kagemura."
"Look, I don't care what you are; I don't know anything. Kagemura what a name. Besides, I work to stop bad people like you."
"See, this is what you don't understand: I'm not evil. Yes, I kill people but remember these are criminals, real criminals; and know this: I know what kind of man you are, Alan. Who you've made suffer, how you've lied and deceived people for years, how you made them think you were on their side and I learned that you're the one who killed him; do you remember the man you killed that night with three shots to my father's body two to the head, one to the heart and you fired the gun and murdered him?"
"So John is your father then, you're James."
"Congratulations, you smart thing."
James landed a hard punch, knocking Alan unconscious.
He tied Alan up, placed him on the back of the motorcycle and strapped him on tight.
He headed for the hideout, going as fast as possible to reach it.
He entered the hideout, unloaded Alan from the motorcycle and then seated him on a chair and tied him up.
Alan was slowly coming to.
"Hey sleepyhead, you were really out cold, huh; wake up now, you son of a bitch."
"I... where am I like this?"
He raised his head toward James.
"So you're James that masked criminal all this time, huh."
"Beep-beep-beep... No. All this time you've been the one lying. The real stupidity was me; I loved you like my father. How could I not see you lying all that time? Actually that's why I didn't see it, because I saw you as my father. But don't worry, you'll pay for what you did to my family down to the last drop of your blood."
