Chapter 125 -  Crying Like a Little Calico Cat (Please Subscribe!!)

"So—Morax, have you told Ganyu and the others that I'm back?"

Jiang Yan asked Morax.

Morax shook his head and said with a smile,

"No. Isn't this so you can give them a surprise?"

Morax really did understand Jiang Yan.

Sure enough, the moment he heard that, Jiang Yan's eyes lit up.

"That's perfect!"

Jiang Yan said excitedly, and immediately stopped chatting with Morax.

He missed his little coconut goat way too much~.

Watching Jiang Yan hurry off, Morax shook his head helplessly.

This kid was always that impatient.

Looking at the Millelith troops and the Ministry of Civil Affairs staff Jiang Yan had left behind with him, and then at the gifts brought back from visiting the Six Nations, Morax suddenly recalled the things he'd heard about Jiang Yan's exploits during that journey.

"This kid… he really stirred up quite a commotion this time."

"But judging by the results, it's a good thing."

Thinking this, Morax began arranging the placement of those gifts, and after the work handover was completed, he decided to give everyone a short vacation.

Two years of running around—these people were exhausted as well.

Yuehai Pavilion.

At the entrance of the usually empty Yuehai Pavilion, a white figure suddenly appeared.

It was Jiang Yan.

Desperate to see Ganyu, he directly activated the Rabbit Talisman, rushing toward Yuehai Pavilion at extreme speed.

Then, Jiang Yan suddenly broke into a mischievous grin.

In his mind, the Snake Talisman flared to life.

In an instant, Jiang Yan vanished, entering an invisible state under the Snake Talisman's effect.

To avoid drawing attention, he even activated the Rooster Talisman, letting himself float.

Truly silent. Truly motionless.

He slipped in through a window—and was immediately hit by an overwhelming wave of noise.

It left Jiang Yan momentarily stunned.

The Eight Gates' work area… was it really this lively now?

Of course it was lively!

While Jiang Yan had been visiting the Six Nations, countless trade orders had poured into Liyue from all directions. Every industry in Liyue experienced explosive growth.

As the organization overseeing all industries, the Eight Gates had been in a constant state of busyness.

After carefully observing several people at work, Jiang Yan nodded in satisfaction.

Not bad—serious working attitude.

This was how the Eight Gates were supposed to operate.

After watching for a bit longer, Jiang Yan headed up to the second floor of Yuehai Pavilion.

Compared to the bustle of the first floor, the second floor was much quieter.

After all, this was the General Affairs Department's office area.

Back when it was designed, Jiang Yan had thought that most of the General Affairs Department consisted of secretarial and clerical staff—jobs requiring calm and focus.

So the floors, doors, and windows on the second floor had all been specially reinforced for soundproofing.

All to ensure a quiet working environment.

After all, his little Ganyu worked here—he naturally had to prepare everything perfectly for her.

On the second floor, the secretaries of the General Affairs Department worked quietly.

As the deputy secretary-general, Ganyu sat calmly at her desk, diligently doing her work.

As for the secretary-general, Guizhong—no one knew where she had run off to.

Jiang Yan quietly approached Ganyu and watched her focused expression as she worked.

Ganyu seemed to sense someone watching her. She glanced around, puzzled, and murmured softly,

"An illusion?"

"I feel like someone's watching me…"

Then she lowered her head again, just about to resume work—when she felt a pair of warm hands clasp her own.

"Miss me?"

A clear yet low voice sounded beside her ear.

Immediately after, Ganyu felt herself being enveloped in a warm embrace.

The embrace she had been longing for day and night…

Disbelief flashed through Ganyu's eyes. She didn't dare turn around, afraid that the voice she'd heard was just another illusion.

Gradually, tears welled up at the corners of her eyes, her whole body trembling.

Seeing Ganyu like this, Jiang Yan panicked.

He quickly turned her around to face him and comforted her softly.

"It's okay. I'm back now."

Ganyu didn't say a word. She only held Jiang Yan tightly, as if afraid he might vanish at any moment.

Without speaking, her actions proved just how much she had missed him.

Jiang Yan gently patted her back and whispered tenderly,

"Be good. This time, I'm not leaving."

Ganyu nodded, burying her face in his chest and greedily breathing in his fresh, familiar scent.

Everyone around them smiled.

Though Jiang Yan's sudden appearance had startled them, they all recognized him and wisely kept quiet.

Almost everyone remained silent, not disturbing the reunion.

"Hey, hey—look at you, crying like a little calico cat."

Jiang Yan gently cupped Ganyu's pretty face, smiling as he wiped away the tears on her cheeks.

Hearing that, Ganyu puffed out her cheeks like an angry pufferfish and buried her head straight into Jiang Yan's chest.

Her cuteness successfully made Jiang Yan laugh.

He glanced around and decided not to disturb everyone else's work.

After all, he and Ganyu still had so much to talk about.

He patted Ganyu's back, then scooped her up into a princess carry.

Ganyu let out a small cry of surprise and instinctively wrapped her arms around Jiang Yan's neck.

Jiang Yan chuckled, leaned down, and gave her a light kiss on the lips. Then he lifted off, flying straight out the window.

From afar, Jiang Yan's voice drifted back into the General Affairs Department.

"Ganyu's work will be handled by you for now. She's taking a couple of days off."

"I'll pay triple wages for those days. It's on me."

As Liyue's chief administrator and the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing, Jiang Yan's words were naturally obeyed by the General Affairs Department.

Besides, he wasn't asking them to work for free—triple pay.

With compensation like that, there was no room for complaints.

Even though Ganyu's workload was heavy, Jiang Yan's money spoke louder.

And so, everyone happily accepted.
