Kate Pov :
I woke up refreshed, forgetting it was a school day. After showering and dressing, I went downstairs but the house was empty. No maids, no driver, no gardener. I called Kalix no answer. Ashi no answer.
It was getting late, so I took my bicycle and rode to school. Everyone was chatting when I entered. I spotted David using his phone."Hey, Mike, Justin, Noah, Alen," I greeted."Hi," they all said, smiling."Anything special?" I asked."You greeted us so sweetly," Mike teased. I laughed awkwardly.
I went to David."Hi, David," I said.He waved."Can I ask you something?"He nodded."Have you seen Kevin?""No.""Can I have his number?""Sure."
I called Kevin, but he didn't answer."He isn't picking up," I said."His sister isn't either," David replied."How do you know his sister?""She's my brother's girlfriend," I said.
Worry started creeping in. Maybe they were at a business meeting but why would Kevin be there?
I left school, borrowed a company car, and drove fast. Too fast. I reached the office and rushed inside."Excuse me, where's my brother?" I asked the receptionist."Sir hasn't come in today," she said.
It felt like a knife stabbed my chest. My worry turned into panic when I got a call from an unknown number."Hello?" I said."Your brother is with us. If you want him, come to this location," the voice said.
I drove faster than ever almost crashing. When I reached, the place was empty except for large boxes. I opened them one by one — nothing. I fell to my knees and started crying. Then clapping.
Kalix, Ashi, and Kevin appeared, laughing."Good acting!" Kevin said."You… you're all assholes!" I shouted, storming off.
I jumped into the car and sped off, anger blinding me. My vision blurred, my heart racing until an oncoming car appeared. I tried to swerve, but the world went black.
Kalix's POV
We were following Kate, but she was driving too fast. Soon, she vanished. Then we saw a crowd gathered by the road. When I saw the crashed car our company car my heart stopped.
It was Kate.I ran, pulled her out, and drove straight to the hospital. My clothes were covered in her blood.
"Is she okay?" Ashi asked."I don't know," I said, my voice breaking.
Guilt consumed me. I punched the wall again and again until my knuckles bled."Stop it!" Ashi screamed. "She's already hurt. Why are you hurting yourself too?"
I sat down, shaking, my mind replaying everything that led to this moment.
Flashback
"Guys, I have a plan," I said."What plan?" Ashi asked."We'll call Kate from an unknown number, take her to an abandoned place, and prank her.""What about the maids?" Kevin asked."I'll give them a break today," I said."Okay, good plan," Ashi said.
We laughed. We thought it would be fun.
