Sara had managed after a bit to contain her screaming on the ride to the battlefield. And it was a battlefield. By the time Kurt had spotted anything, the war party was in full engagement as far as Kurt could tell. He landed a distance away, to let Sra down, she could move fast as well, and Kurt didn't want to actually fight with her riding in their form of piggyback.
He saw what appeared to War Lord Travis on his Barbariape take a swing at one of the Ant's head with their axe, and it dug in and took him off the mount, swinging in the air.
There were arrows flying as well as fireballs from the shamans at both creatures, though it appeared as they had been focusing on one, it had lost two of its legs while the other, though filled with arrows, seemed to be rather unscathed. A large crack then took over the battle field with a lightning bolt came from one of the Shamans staff striking the more wounded one in of it remaining legs, causing it to break off.
The goblins did seem in control of the battle, but they were not having the easiest of time, the Giant Ants would easily walk over and around them, swapping madly at the horde.
"Damn, this is crazy," said Sara. "But I got this, this should be a good distance to do it." She looked around. And found a spot and seemed to be starting on focusing on something. "Just wait Kurt you'll see."
Kurt continued to be awe struck by the battle. Warlord Travis, and Hank were giving him good strikes, he could tell it was one of them by the simple fact there were only two Barbariape on the battlefield. They seem to be able to keep it distracted while the rest are able to attack as well. The only thing they were focusing on seemed to be about to go down, it had lost half its legs, and was bleeding out heavily.
Kurt felt a shadow start to cover his body, then saw a massive pillar of a shadow growing in front of him, turning around a massive tree had suddenly grown in front Sara, did it have eyes? The tree had five branches lofting around its truck, holes for eyes and hat appeared to be a mouth formed, and suddenly l, it was like its roots had turned into legs and it pushed itself out of the ground.
"Kurt, make sure I'm protected", said Sara, "controlling it is a bit tricky. I can't really move myself and the tree golem at the same time, and make sure I don't trip, having two sets of eyes is tough to concentrate on at the same time. So I'm just gonna focus on making it hit whatever you call those, as hard as I can, so I might move a little erratically on this body, my body, sorry."
The tree golem started running into battle. Towards the more unhurt Lizard Ant. "Sara, ummm, that's kind of badass."
"Thank you, it is baddass, isn't it? But I'm trying to concentrate here, being a tree is weird."
The tree golem swung wildly at that Ant, and hit it immediately, they were too big not to clash. Spinning around the tree slapped the Ant multiple times in the head. The goblins had almost immediately doubled their effort on the wounded Ant. Another crack was heard, and a lightning stick took another leg, this time the creature's ability to stand seemed to cease, it was wildly swinging its arm. Hank seems to be charging at its head. The Barbariape and Hank jumped into the beast, now with a more grounded body, eye and it splattered.
The sky started to darken, and Kurt looked up to see the High Shaman circling around a growing storm cloud. It seemed like he was going to make a big strike. There was a heroic scream, a war cry maybe, and the more wounded Ant seemed to have stopped moving.
A lighting bolt struck from the air right at the remaining Lizard Ant, but the fight with the tree golem had made an erratic target, the bolt hit the canopy of the tree on its way into the Ant, setting it ablaze. Now the giant Golem was on fire, trading blows with the Giant spider ant. The ant screeched, swiped with one of its legs and there was a loud crack of wood, one of the branches of the golem fell off.
The full war party began to engage with the tree golem, arrows and spells began to litter the sky. Kurt just stood in awe of what he was witnessing. The battle seems to be going very much in their favor. He was not expecting a massive fiery tree to start bashing the ant.
The tide was turned, every direct the ant moved there were troops ready to attack a weak side. Cracks of lightning filled the air, its legs had begun to start falling off. After a particularly hard blow to the head from the tree golem, it appeared to be completely dazed. And it fell to the ground. The goblins piled onto the ant like they themselves were ants and had found Apple to eat.
The battle was won. The tree golem, still on fire step to the side, fell to the ground seemingly lifeless now. He heard Sara fall down and start breathing heavily. and said "man, doing that takes a lot out of you, I don't know how much longer I could have gone. So surprise, Tree Golem," putting up her arms giving a smile. Kurt started laughing.
Kurt hadn't really done anything but take a run, a terrifying run, but that's about it. He hadn't even touched any of them. Even falling off the cliff he somehow managed that water ball roll, and came out basically untouched. Somehow he just got to watch all the good parts.
Kurt thought about what he thought would happen if he had joined, he most likely could have managed to cut off their legs with a water disc or several. It would have been difficult, and possibly required a few attempts. But he thought he could actually fare pretty well against one of them, depending on if the disc actually cut through the scales, if not it wouldn't go his way, two or three wouldn't have been feasible. Not that he was going to go look for one to test it. In any event he would have been a help, if he wasn't so awestruck by the sight and had the excuse of 'guarding Sara' for the event.
It was really a win for the goblins, High Shaman Simon took one down by himself, the war party took one down, Tok seemed to have a plan for two, Warlord Travis got in some mighty blows, and everyone came together for the last one. He'd have to talk to Layla about what kind of honors or awards he could bestow or something. Kurt didn't know much about glory, but he would surely give some to them if possible.
