What Kurt suddenly realized as the Giant Lizard Ant made its way up the crumbled cliff face, that the part of the plan he disliked the most was how pretty much all of it depended on making sure the creature was always looking at him. It had seemed smaller from up on top of the cliff face. It was the type of giant monstrosity you normally would want to, at all cost, avoid its gaze.
Kurt had hoped he would have to keep encouraging the monster to follow him rather than to have it seem to think Lirt was his next meal. Kurt leapt in the direction of the canyon, leaping in a way that gave a lot of distance and seemed to cross the eye line of the monster. The monster gave chase,
He had started to get in sight of the canyon and saw the first stopping, there was meat there as well, two goblins were on their mounts, bows at the ready. The terrifying Lizard Ant shaped at Kurt, a few arrow flew into the sky sticking the creature, as Kurt curved toward what he could start seeing as the intended path.
He was running and leaping with his water boot quickly, he could go a bit faster, possibly even escape them if he pushed himself. The goblin rider, on their rams, started to run down the path giving Kurt a guide.
The plan was hoping they would actually stop at each place, taking their time to eat. But the creature seems to have a problem with Kurt, What did I ever do but feed you? Kurt thought, as he continued to run.
The canyon was getting bigger and bigger as he got closer and closer, he saw a stick with a cloth on it, that had to be the marker. He then realized Mary was flying around it too, screaming "this way!" Kurt started heading directly towards Mary who started flying up, she must have wanted to make sure she was far above them. He got to the edge of the canyon with the Lizard Ant moments behind him, Kurt attempted to jump but just then his footing gave way, he heard a scream from behind him. Crap, Kurt knew he wasn't going to be heavy enough to make the ground shift in the trap, but he had ended up being a bit too close and gotten caught in it anyway.
Kurt managed to push off the cliff in some manner and get himself into a ball and cover himself with the water fist, never having to do this before, coming up with an option in the moment, it allowed him to roll and bounce down the canyon's base.
"Kurt!" screamed Sara from down the line canton but still above it, "this way, you have to get past Simon, run. Run!"
He heard a thud, and screamed that the Giant Lizard Antmade, it had pushed the rubble off of him, looked around and saw Kurt. Kurt got up as fast as he could, dashed down the canyon as fast he could, the creature brushed off some more rubble and gave chase.
Turning down the canyon path, he finally saw Simon, he was in glowing robes floating in the area, a complex runic circle was giving off a red steam, the shamans staff was shaking a little in the air, Kurt heard a low chant, low chant was. Simon opened his eyes, and stared at Kurt, who had never stopped running.
Behind him he heard the creature bash in the canyon wall on the turn, Sara said get past Simon. He pushed with all his mana, all his strength and leapt past Simon. Not knowing how far the Lizard Ant was Behind him.
"Zam, ki, bah," powerful unfamiliar words, or just syllables came from High Simon lips. And a strange 'welp' like sound started oscillating in Kurt's ear, he turned to see a brightly glowing orb formed in front of Simon, the creature was almost upon him. And then for a moment, a sudden silence overcame the area, followed by a massively loud and long booooooom. The light had expanded into a swirling beam of power taking up at least eighty percent of the canyon width formed and shot out, it was at least 40 feet long by the end of it.
The Giant Lizard Ant's body and torso had evaporated, a large hole in the canyon wall appeared, and then caved in, all that was left were its massive legs that soon fell to the ground.
Simon fell to the ground and started breathing heavily, "Just the one then? I was hoping to get all three."
Kurt looked at him, started nodding and looked back at the scene in disbelief. He saw the circle around Simon was much more detailed than he had originally seen, far more patterns, inlays, and runic scripts, that must have been what he was setting up the entire time.
Layla used her tentacles to climb down to Kurt and Simon. "Wow, I was not expecting that, I didn't know what I was expecting but, damn Simon, you've been holding back on us."
"I assure you, I needed the time to prepare, it's not something I can do if we're ambushed," getting up from the ground. "And the other two?" looking at Kurt.
"They look to have gone to the war party."
"Then I must go," said High Shaman Simon whistled and a Rider Hawk cawed back flying towards him, "I can help them there, I can get there with the Hawk quickly, we seem to have finished our job faster than expected at least, feel free to join us, Sir Kurt and Lady Sara, I'm sorry I don't have much in the way of mounts for you at the moment." Simon mounted the hawk and flew off, he gave out a purple flare as well from his staff, signaling something.
"Kurt, take me," said Sara.
"What? I wasn't expecting you to run into…"
"You're way faster, and you can give me a piggy back ride, I can hold on with the tentacles too so I won't be at your neck."
"Really? Why?"
"I didn't get to do my surprise, just get me close, you won't have to do anything, just carry me, you know you can do it easily, I don't want to miss it."
And it looked like Kurt was transporting, it was actually not all that bad, they had made a configuration with the tentacles that made it fairly easy on Kurt. And he was more than strong enough to support the weight.
"Hold on, and don't scream.," Kurt said as he leapt up the canyon wall in one stride, and started running after Simon. Sara started to scream as if she was on a roller coaster.
