Dahlia's POV
"You'll compensate?" Miranda's voice dripped with mockery as she fixed Diana with a withering stare. "Where exactly would you get that kind of money? Everything you have comes from my father anyway."
The eye roll that followed was so dramatic I had to bite back a laugh.
Miranda's hatred for Diana ran just as deep as mine did. Not that I could blame her. Diana might be illegitimate, but she was still the eldest daughter, dressed in designer clothes that screamed expensive taste. Her father clearly doted on her, and with Soren constantly by her side, she lived quite comfortably.
"One million dollars isn't beyond my means." I lifted my head slowly, catching Soren's piercing gaze. Those cold eyes held a clear warning. Was he worried I might spill their dirty little secret?
How pathetic. If they were so concerned about exposure, they shouldn't have been so openly affectionate in public.
