You forgot something, You Ye said with a faint smile. We're dueling in Master Duel. Any card that can appear here must already be recognized by the official Duel rules.
He could understand the fear written on Mu Ning and Sheng Ning's faces — the sheer pressure of Kshatri-La Unicorn was enough to make any duelist tremble — but still, compared to Kshatri-La Fenrir, Unicorn wasn't even the strongest of the pack.
If Fenrir's single-card strength were ranked, it would be S-tier.
A "Triple-Fenrir" setup meant—if you had it, your opponent was doomed.
Mu Ning and Sheng Ning froze for a moment after hearing You Ye's words.
Right! This was Master Duel!
If Unicorn could be used here, that meant it was a rule-approved card!
Just as the realization hit them, You Ye made his next move.
"I activate Kshatri-La Unicorn's second effect! Once per turn, I can add one Kshatri-La Spell card from my Deck to my hand."
"I chain to that!" Mu Ning responded instantly. "Quick-Play Spell — Runick of Flashing Fire! I target your Unicorn to destroy it, then banish the top two cards of your Deck!"
There was no hesitation — she fired back at once.
Unicorn was far too overpowered; if it stayed on the field for even a few turns, her Extra Deck would be crippled.
And with that Dimension Shifter from last turn, once Unicorn was destroyed, it would be banished, never to return.
She had to act now.
Resolution:
Chain 2: Runick of Flashing Fire destroys Unicorn → banish the top 2 cards of You Ye's Deck. (Unicorn is banished.)
Chain 1: Kshatri-La Unicorn adds Six Evils – The Heavenly Demon's Self-Manifestation from the Deck to the hand.
(Fun fact: "Destroyed" ≠ "Negated and destroyed.")
"Because I activated a Quick-Play Spell, my Continuous Spell Runick Dispelling activates — banish the top card of your Deck!"
Another round of shimmering runic light flashed across the field as another of You Ye's cards was removed from play.
You Ye glanced down at his banished pile and sighed dramatically.
"Ah~ why'd you have to go and banish that card? Now the Duel's already over."
Mu Ning blinked. "...Huh?"
Banish his cards… and that means she lost? What kind of logic was that supposed to be?
For a moment, she couldn't follow at all.
But then, a horrifying possibility struck her —
Could Kshatri-La recover cards from the banished zone?!
Her pupils shrank. The idea was insane — almost impossible.
For most archetypes, "banish" meant gone forever.
Her Runick cards could banish the opponent's, but even she couldn't recycle her own.
If Kshatri-La could do it…!
"It looks like you've already realized it," You Ye said, smiling faintly.
"Yes — Kshatri-La does have its own method to retrieve banished cards."
"But before that... let's welcome back an old friend!"
As he finished speaking, Unicorn reappeared on his field once again.
"Unicorn?!"
Mu Ning blinked hard. "Old friend? Don't tell me—?!"
"You can't be serious!"
"I activate the Continuous Spell — Kshatri-La Docking Port!" You Ye declared.
"Once per turn, I can Special Summon one Kshatri-La monster from my banished zone.
I choose to summon the Kshatri-La Fenrir you banished earlier!"
The moment he said the name, a dark red figure wielding dual axes emerged in a blaze of power.
Even through the duel screen, Mu Ning felt the sheer aura pressing down on her — Fenrir was far more terrifying than Unicorn.
Every instinct screamed at her to eliminate it at any cost.
She quickly checked the card data…
And froze — the Fenrir You Ye played had hidden effects.
Its ATK, DEF, and archetype tag were visible, but its effect text was blank — completely concealed.
"I now activate the effect of Scareclaw-Type Kshatri-La from my hand!" You Ye continued.
"I Special Summon it in Defense Position, then banish one Kshatri-La card from my hand or GY.
I choose to banish Six Evils – The Heavenly Demon's Self-Manifestation from my hand!"
"The banished Six Evils card now activates its own effect!
When banished, I can add one banished Kshatri-La monster to my hand.
I choose Kshatri-La Ogre!"
"Next, Kshatri-La Docking Port's secondary effect allows me to Normal Summon Level 7 monsters without Tribute.
So I Normal Summon Kshatri-La Ogre!"
"Now then…" You Ye raised his hand. "Battle Phase."
Mu Ning frowned. "You're attacking already? You're not going to Xyz Summon?
All your monsters are Level 7! Isn't Kshatri-La an archetype that focuses on Rank 7 Xyz monsters?"
Her words made You Ye chuckle bitterly. "That's what the pure Kshatri-La builds do."
Kshatri-La, without archetype restrictions, were monsters of endless potential.
They could go Rank 7, Synchro 7, or even Link plays.
The archetype's versatility was legendary — the epitome of adaptability.
"The duel's already decided," You Ye said, eyes flashing. "There's no need to drag it out."
Mu Ning and Sheng Ning both looked confused.
They admitted — You Ye's field was formidable: four monsters, three of them with boosted ATK thanks to his Field Spell, even the lowest (Fenrir) sitting at 2700.
But Mu Ning still had Runick Wings – Huginn on the field as a blocker.
Unless You Ye had a piercing effect, she could survive the turn.
You Ye grinned.
"Kshatri-La monsters don't naturally have piercing damage, that's true…"
"—but Scareclaw-Type Kshatri-La can attack while in Defense Position.
Its DEF is treated as its ATK!"
Before Mu Ning could react, Scareclaw-Type Kshatri-La lunged forward, its massive claws tearing through Huginn.
The barrier shattered; Huginn returned to the Extra Deck in a burst of blue light.
And that was all it took.
The three Kshatri-La beasts — Unicorn, Fenrir, and Ogre — each unleashed a strike.
A single coordinated blow, and Mu Ning's LP dropped straight to zero.
"I… lost," Mu Ning exhaled deeply, then smiled wryly.
"I admit defeat. As expected of the Great Exorcist Saint. My Runick deck can't compare."
You Ye waved a hand dismissively.
"Don't sell yourself short. Runick is powerful too — you just used it in the wrong way.
Letting your opponent move freely? That's not how a control deck works.
This is the first time I've ever seen such a 'wholesome' version of a prison deck."
"Wait," Sheng Ning interjected, still stunned. "You're saying Mu Ning's version is the 'wholesome' one?"
To her, Runick was the ultimate "toxic" deck — banishing the opponent's entire Deck piece by piece, locking them down until they suffocated.
But apparently, compared to what You Ye implied… her version was the light side?!
What's the matter? You Ye said with a mischievous grin.
Wanna see what a true 'toxic Runick' looks like? Come on, log in.
I'll give you a personal demonstration — one you'll never forget.
(Author's note: Not a delay! Your humble, failing author already queued this for auto-release — crying intensifies 😭)
