Chapter 6 - CHAPTER SIX :

Emma's Pov

I thought I had a friend, but I was dead wrong.

Jessy stared at me as I picked up the call.

"Hello…" I answered

"I thought we had a compromise?" His voice flowed.

"Hmmm, I thought so too but that's man…."

"Forget about that…" he cut me off.

"Okay, sir."

"The time is 8 PM," he continued.

"Yes, sir…"

"I am supposed to have a session with you."

"But…."

"Pack an overnight bag. The driver will pick you up in five minutes," he concluded. Before I could say more, he ended the call.

"When did you take up his offer?" Jessy asked and I glared at her.

With a low voice, "You are nothing but a bitch. I hate you."

"You hate me? Emma after all I have done for you?" She dropped the wine glass.

"What have you done for me, Jessy? Fuck, you were supposed to be my friend and come to find out you were fucking….."

"No, we were not…" she cut me off.

I paused.

No matter what I do she won't admit it. I stared at her and all I felt was rage and anger. I thought she was my friend?

"You know what? Fuck you. Fuck Ethan too. You can have him. I won't fight you over a man who barely makes ends meet." I yelled as I walked out of the kitchen.

"Is that so?" she yelled back

"Yes!"

"Then get the fuck out of my house, Emma."

I was taken aback, and I paused by the door.

"Are you telling me to leave? I pay rent, Jessy."

"The house is in my name, Emma. I don't need you as a roommate again. If you want to leave, then do so and leave. You are not a friend."

I scoffed, "Wow, you are a real gaslighting bitch. You and Ethan would fit so well."

"Get out!"

"I will, bitch!"

I stormed off to my room. I picked up a duffel bag as I packed my essentials that I needed. That's when I heard the horn honking from outside.

Perfect, he is here.

I put on my shoes and dash out.

"So, are you really going to leave?" Jessy called out when I got to the door.

"Your wish is my command."

She smirked, "So you are going to stay with a man who is not your boyfriend and you are calling me a hypocrite? Emma, you about to go fuck that man for money?"

I walked up to her, slowly and before I could stop myself, my hands landed heavily on her cheek.

She screamed, holding her jaw, "fuck, you bitch!!"

I dashed out of the house with tears in my eyes. A black SUV was parked outside and without giving it a second thought, I opened the door and got in.

"Miss Lawson?" the driver asked.

I nodded, "ya, that's me."

"You will be staying with Mr Damian Cross for the night," he announced.

"Noted, please just drive." my voice cracked as tears flowed from my eyes.

The journey to Mr Damian's house was not an easy one. My mind kept replaying what I saw, how she stood there and lied to my face and to top it off, she called me a prostitute.

The ringing from my phone brought me back to reality. Looking at the screen the name I saw made me furious.

It was Ethan.

Why was he calling me? To feed me more lies?

I can't deal with this shit. I declined the call and proceeded to block him. I don't need him or Jessy in my life. I would be fine.

I tried to console myself but I knew, deep down that it would never remain the same again.

He pulled through a huge black gate. It covered whatever was inside. The fences were as tall as prison yards.

"Ma'am, we are here…" the driver announced.

The black gate opened and he drove inside. My mouth dropped to the floor. It was a fucking mansion.

"Holy shit…" I whispered

We drove slowly into the huge compounds that could hold factories. Does he live here alone? This is crazy.

The care finally came to a stop in front of the huge iron door. I got out of the car still mesmerized by what I saw.

It was a real-life palace.

"Hello Miss…" Someone greeted me. My eyes darted to the middle-aged man who wore a suit. He looked well-kept and organized.

"I am Mr Johnson, the butler of the Cross Estate. Please come in. Mr Damain is currently with some guests and he will come to see you later."

I gave my brightest smile, "Thank you, Mr Johnson."

Before I could blink, two maids pulled my bag from my hands.

"This way…"

I followed them into the house and let me tell you, the outside doesn't compare to the inside beauty.

Whoever set up this place was an artist.

We walked up a flight of stairs, while I stared at the beautiful and most expensive decoration in the world.

How do I plan to stay one day with all this?

But that was my plan. I was going to be in a hotel till I found a new place to stay. I couldn't leave with Jessy anymore. Not only did she betray me, but she also lied to me.

That was not okay.

The maid opened a door to a room larger than my entire apartment. "This will be your suite for the night," she said softly before leaving.

I dropped my bag on the bed and collapsed beside it, staring at the chandelier above me.

My chest still burned from anger and betrayal, but exhaustion slowly won.

Just when my eyes began to close, the door creaked open. Heavy footsteps echoed across the marble floor.

I sat up immediately.

Damian Cross stood there, his gaze unreadable. "Rough night?" he asked.

I swallowed hard, suddenly aware that my night was only just beginning.

"Let's get down to business…" he walked in and closed the door.
