The whole troupe were ready to head down the mountain, Kaylan stood beside his horse waiting for me.
I walked gracefully towards him but the stone that I failed to see tripped me over and I went crumbling down from grace to the grass on the floor.
I heard the soldiers hold back their laugh, how I desperately needed the ground to swallow me whole.
Kaylan stretched his hand towards me, I placed mine in it... He helped me stand properly but my shoes had grass on them.
Then... Kaylan goes on one knees to wipe it off, Carlos immediately knelt down and so did the rest of the troupe.
I stood there frozen by the sight in front of me.
"All done" he stood up taking my hands.
"You may rise" he told the rest.
And they stood up, a genuine feeling of happiness surged through my body. I fought the urge to jump and hug Kaylan.
"Thank you" I whispered into his ear.
He smiled and took me to the horse, helped me get on and sat in front of me.
I wrapped my hands around his waist, then rested my head on his back.
We rode downhill, the troupe built a tent... Elthara army stood large in front of the kingdom.
Seems like the war wasn't a surprise to them, they were expecting Kaylan... I watched from behind a tree uphill.
And even though my father said that my mother wasn't there I still had to confirm for myself, and thankfully I didn't see her.
Kaylan stood in the front line, now the two soldiers were facing each other, then the Eltharian soldiers charged.
So did Kaylan, with one swift motion, the people around him fell to the ground, he wasn't just skilled but fast as well... I wasn't expecting less from the dragon Lord's son.
It's already noon and the battlefield was covered in blood, Kaylan army of five hundred soldiers against Elthara five thousand soldiers..
But with Kaylan, it could be said that Nytherra had same amount of soldiers.
Night reached fast, and the two kingdoms retreated, when I got to the camp Kaylan had already retreated to his room.
"Sire didn't eat before going in" he handed a plate of food to me signalling that I gave it to him.
"You're the best" I smiled before walking towards Kaylan room.
"Don't come in" I heard him yell from inside
"Why" I placed my hands gently on the door
"I am currently in a messy state" he replied
"I'll clean up the mess" I said pushing the door open.
I found Kaylan, squeezing himself on a corner of the bed, his legs pressing against his chest as his head rested on them.
"Kaylan" I called out taking a single step closer after placing the plate on his table.
"Don't come closer" he shifted. "Speak from there"
I took another step closer. "Why?"
"You wouldn't like what you see" he replied moving away
"As long as it is you, I would like it" I assured
He lifted his head gently, meeting my eyes with his golden eyes but different. He had black line in them— a cat eyes.
"Your eyes" I pointed
He immediately turned back "please leave"
"I don't hate it, it's actually pretty" I smiled sitting right next to him.
He lifted his head staring at me, aside from his eyes, his face had glows underneath them
This was probably his dragon blood, I stretched my hand forward to touch him but he stopped me
"It's hot" he said
"Alright, eat something" I said standing up, then I brought the food to his side.
"Since you've fed me once, I'll feed you this time" I said fetching a spoon full of rice and giving it to him.
He ate and went to sleep, but I couldn't get his cat eyes out of my head.
The next morning, he left early to the battlefield while I was still fast asleep.
I waited in the camp for their return, at noon Kaylan came back in trump, the war lasted for only a day and half.
"What book did you want" he stared at me with those cat eyes.
Earlier that morning his eyes were back to normal, but it seemed to have changed back.
"What?" I asked, unsure what he was referring to.
"You asked about the palace library" he reminded me
I felt touched knowing that he remembered, even though it had just been two days, I still felt happy.
"I brought all the books back for you" he pointed at a box.
I opened the box and indeed it was filled with books, I was supposed to be looking for a witch book.
But I couldn't let Kaylan see me doing that, "can I have them all?"
He nodded before leaving
"You don't seem surprised by sire eyes" Carlos said, his clothes drenched with red, and a strong scent of blood emitting from his body .
"I'm surprised by the amount of blood on you" i said, moving back.
"It's not mine" he said, I couldn't tell if that was supposed to help.
I bowed politely before excusing myself, I couldn't afford to offend Carlos he'd snap my head out within a second.
In the battlefield, aside from Kaylan, Carlos also emitted a very strange aura.
He was fast, and skilled but instead of fighting like others he stayed a few inches behind Kaylan, constantly watching our for Kaylan.
The war was over and it's almost time to head back, I wondered why miss Aurelia said we would spend about two months on this journey.
When morning reached and the entire troupe were outside, it was time to head back but.... Carlos calls out to another kingdom as our destination.
"Our next stop is... Kingdom Valeria" he said
