Isabella's POV
The thunder returned just as the mansion plunged into darkness.
For a second, she thought it was only the storm. Then she saw the look on Sebastian's face sharp, alert, controlled the expression of a man who knew when safety was gone.
"Pack what you need," he said, already crossing the room. "Now."
Her pulse spiked. "What's happening?"
"Security system's down. Someone killed the power grid from outside that takes insider access." His phone's flashlight cut through the shadows. "They're coming."
She stumbled toward the closet, adrenaline spiking as she grabbed whatever she could a coat, her bag, the small velvet box that held her ultrasound photo.
Her hands shook. "Who's coming, Sebastian?"
He didn't look at her as he opened the drawer near his desk and withdrew a sleek black handgun. "People who don't care if they kill us both to get what they want."
The words froze her blood.
