Kael moved like a storm of blades.
His daggers flashed as he spun around the dragon, each step part of a deadly dance. Steel carved across the White Dragon's torso in rapid succession, slashes too fast to track.
At the same moment....
Zeref raised his hand.
"Inferno."
Flames exploded outward, swallowing the dragon's upper body in roaring fire. Even if the burn damage was minor, the effect stacked.
Constant pressure.
Constant damage.
Kael landed beside me again, breath sharp with anger.
"Don't you dare touch her again."
His arm wrapped around my waist as he pulled me back from the dragon.
Then Zeref stepped in front of us, shoulders squared, flames still burning in his palm.
Wow.
I blinked at the scene.
This was… incredibly romantic.
Heroic even.
Two powerful men standing in front of me, protecting me from the villain.
My heart fluttered for exactly half a second.
But no.
No. No. No.
Focus.
This was a battlefield.
Not a drama series.
Still…
