Chapter 16 - A Day with Syr
———————————————————
And now, I can create one ^Legendary^ Rank Skill every five days.
The first one I'll make—five days from now—will be the skill I've been thinking about lately: 『Linked Dimension』.
But that can wait. For today, I'm meeting up with Syr. Everything else can come later.
...
———————————————————
...
Around noon, I left the house and headed to our usual meeting spot.
As I walked, my thoughts drifted toward what kind of skills I could create besides 『Linked Dimension』.
The Instant Teleport and Teleport skills have already arrived. If I combine them, I could make something like Instant and Long Teleport.
Or, instead of a standard teleportation skill, I could create something called Save Point.
The "Instant and Long Teleport" skill would work exactly as its name suggests:
Instant Teleport: Instantly teleport anywhere within line of sight.
Cost: 100 –1.000 MP per meter.
Duration: None.
Long Teleport: Teleport anywhere within a 10 km² radius—as long as I've been there before, even in the sky.
Cost: 10,000 MP per kilometer.
Setup Time: 10 seconds.
Pretty cool, right? I'll keep those in mind for later.
Oh, and as for 『Save Point』, it would let me teleport to any previously saved location—within a set quota, of course. After a 20-second preparation, I could instantly warp to the saved point.
That one would be perfect for visiting my family. Even if I end up attending an academy when I'm ten or twelve, I could teleport home right after class, spend some time with them, and return to the academy instantly.
Or even better—if I ever grow too powerful and have to leave my family behind on Planet Ocsilaus, I could return to them in an instant.
...
Thinking about all this on the way gets me excited, but it's not the time yet.
From now on, I'll make sure every skill I create is at least ^Legendary^ Rank.
Once I've made enough of them, I'll upgrade every single one of my skills to ^Legendary^—and after that, I'll enhance 『Art of Infinite Creation』 using 『Breaking the Limit』 to reach ^Super Legendary^ Rank.
...
About ten minutes later, I reached our meeting spot. It was 12:15.
When I arrived, I saw Syr waiting right on time. I walked up to her with a smile.
"Hey, Syr. How are you?"
She smiled back. "Hello, Kael. I'm doing well, as always. How about you?"
"I'm good too, thanks. Shall we head to our usual place –the Lake of Fate?"
Syr nodded cheerfully. "Let's go!" she said, taking my arm.
...
During the thirty-minute walk, I told her about the teleportation skills I'd been thinking about.
Her eyes sparkled with excitement. "Then you should make a skill that lets me teleport to you whenever I want!"
I paused for a moment, thinking it over. "Hmm… what about calling it 『Fate's Link』? It would require both people's consent, and a small part of their souls would be bound together. That connection would let them sense, communicate, and even teleport to each other."
Syr's eyes lit up. "That would be perfect!" she said, practically bouncing with excitement.
...
We kept talking for another twenty-eight minutes before finally arriving at the Lake of Destiny.
12:43 PM
We sat down on the bench Syr had made before—one she'd even improved after upgrading her skill.
We chatted about our daily lives, though most of the talking came from me.
After all, Syr doesn't really have anyone to talk to at the orphanage…
I'd actually discussed this with my family before—asked if we could take Syr in—but they refused.
To take her from the orphanage, they'd have to adopt her, which would make us siblings on paper.
It wouldn't have mattered to either of us, but my family didn't want that.
So, eight years later—when I turned ten and Syr was sixteen—we decided to bring her home ourselves.
After all, the age of adulthood on Ocsilaus, as I've mentioned before, is sixteen.
Children from orphanages are considered adults at that age and are released with a small amount of money, depending on the orphanage's mother or caretaker.
...
An hour later, it was already 1:45 PM.
"Would you like to go to the Monster Lair with me?" I asked.
If we go there, Syr can train herself—and we can make some money along the way.
After all, monster core prices range roughly as follows:
> Bronze Core → 80 Silver – 1.5 Gold
> Silver Core → 3 Gold – 10 Gold
> Gold Core → 25 Gold – 300 Gold
> Platinum Core → 800 Gold – 3,000 Gold
So even if we happen to find a ^Gold^ Core, there's no way we could sell it here in town.
For example, we still have the core of that ^Platinum^ monster we hunted last time, sitting at home. We simply couldn't afford to sell it even if we wanted to.
According to my father's estimation, it's worth at least 2,300 Gold Coins, or roughly 23 Platinum Coins.
...
Syr hesitated for a moment after hearing my question –but she knows my power well enough to trust me.
"Alright, Kael. I'll leave it to you. When do we go?" she asked.
"We can go right now if you'd like," I replied. "But remember –you'll have to let me carry you. Even if your stats are maxed at 299, you still won't be able to keep up with me."
She chuckled softly. "Okay then, let's go right now. You can carry me."
Before leaving, I decided to check Syr's status one last time.

She's progressing incredibly well. If Syr is going to be my partner in the future, she needs to be strong –and she's already on the right path.
I increased the Transferred Mana Amount from 100 million to 1 billion, because i have total of 2.8B MP.
So, sacrificing a mere billion MP is nothing.
...
I lifted Syr onto my back and started running toward the Monster's Lair –the same one my father and I had visited before.
At my current speed –around 70 to 80 km/h –we'd reach it in just 10 to 15 minutes.
13 minutes later — 2:00 PM
I told Syr that since it was already two o'clock, we could hunt for a maximum of two hours. She nodded silently in agreement.
...
As we searched for the monster lair, I told Syr everything my father had taught me before –about reading the battlefield, maintaining focus, and never letting her guard down. She listened with full attention, taking in every word.
Syr didn't have a sword, but honestly, she didn't need one. With her ^Rare^ Rank 『Healing』 and 『Fire and Water Magic』 skills –and the 1B MP I'd transferred to her –she was practically an immortal combatant.
Still, if she were to die suddenly, I wouldn't be able to save her. Though, for that to happen, we'd need to face a monster with at least ^Diamond^ Tier cultivation.
And that's… pretty unlikely.
...
After around ten minutes of searching, we finally came across a Monster Lair containing at most two ^Bronze^ Tier beasts.
I told Syr to stay focused and drew my sword from its scabbard, ready to back her up if needed.
Channeling my Killing Intent, I enveloped my blade in an invisible pressure and carefully controlled it, forcing the surrounding monsters to tremble in fear.
That way, Syr could safely fight up to five Mortal-tier monsters at once without interference.
They couldn't even breathe unless I allowed them to.
The instinct of a predator—terrifying yet precise.
...
Syr was learning as she fought.
She moved cautiously, prioritizing defense and environmental awareness, dodging attacks while striking back with fire arrows and mana cannons—each powered by 10,000 MP bursts.
Despite her focus, she occasionally got hit. When it wasn't serious, she just gritted her teeth and continued fighting. But when she took a heavier blow, she immediately healed herself using 10,000 MP.
She was holding back a little. I could tell. Probably because she wanted to make sure she could rely on herself—even if one day she couldn't rely on me.
After all, no matter how much mana I give her, the 『Permanent Mana Increase』 skill won't activate unless she spends her own mana.
Which means… I'll have to transfer two more skills to her soon: 『Mana Regeneration』 and 『Automatic Mana Consumption』.
With those, she'll eventually have enough MP to sustain herself without depending on me.
...
After about ten minutes of battle, Syr finally managed to defeat all four Mortal monsters.
Even though she killed them using magic from a distance, it was her first time taking a life—and it hit her hard. Her face went pale, and she bent over, vomiting onto the ground.
"Can you keep going?" I asked softly.
With a dark, shaken expression, she muttered,
"If I want to stay by your side… I can't let something like this break me."
I smiled gently, reached out, and ruffled her soft, fragrant hair. "Good girl," I said playfully.
...
After a brief two-minute break, she looked up with determination.
"Let out ten of them at once this time," she said.
I simply nodded and released my Killing Intent from ten nearby monsters.
"Rooaar!"
A tiger-like beast lunged at Syr with surprising speed. Even without using Assessment, I could feel its mana—it was nearly at ^Bronze^ Rank.
But that didn't matter. This was Syr's battle. I wanted to see how she'd handle it.
After all, she possessed Peak Stage power—more than enough to handle these weaklings.
What she lacked was experience—and right now, she was earning it.
...
At first, Syr flinched at the tiger's speed and pressure. But she quickly steadied herself and launched her counterattack.
The tiger dodged, snarled, and slashed back, forcing her on the defensive.
Still, she wasn't facing just the tiger—there were nine other monsters surrounding her.
Reacting quickly, Syr summoned nine Firebolts and Waterbolts simultaneously, launching them toward the other monsters.
While one was distracted, she darted behind it and incinerated its head with a precise burst of fire magic.
Nine left.
...
Three to four minutes later, she'd eliminated eight more monsters using the same strategy.
Only the tiger remained.
But this time, she didn't rush to finish it off.
Instead, she condensed her fire magic—using a ridiculous amount of my transferred mana –into a blazing sword. Its mana consumption was about 2.57 million MP per second, but its durability was more than enough for what she intended.
Clearly, she wasn't just fighting anymore. She was training.
The tiger slashed with its claws, but Syr sidestepped and parried, countering fluidly.
After a minute or two of trading blows, she began to read the creature's movements—developing her own rhythm.
...
She fought for another ten minutes, gradually forming a natural combat flow that resembled the fundamentals of swordsmanship.
Her stance, timing, and precision—everything was improving with each swing.
Syr was learning to fight. Not as someone who relied on borrowed power –but as a warrior.
It's quite good for a beginner. Could her physique be influencing this?
After all, I can't see the effects of any Immeasurable abilities right now—aside from my own.
And Syr's physique, {Nature's Spirit}, surpasses even the ^Mysterious^ Rank.
Ten minutes later, Syr adjusted her control –reducing the sword's durability to enhance its attack power and sharpness. With one clean swing, she severed the tiger's head.
She'd grown at an astonishing rate—both mentally and experientially. It was truly admirable.
...
"Well done, Syr," I said, "but this isn't the time to rest yet. I'm going to release all the remaining Mortal Rank monsters. Let's see if you can handle them."
I paused for a moment before adding,
"And I must say—even if there were a few small flaws in your attack pattern against the tiger, it was impressive. I think you're already capable of developing your own technique without guidance."
Syr's ears turned red from my praise, though she quickly regained her composure.
"Thank you, Kael. But please –release the other monsters," she said firmly.
I smiled faintly and did as she asked.
...
It took her roughly thirty minutes to deal with all the remaining Mortal Rank beasts.
When she finally finished, the time was 3:39 PM. That meant it was time to take on the final two—^Bronze^ Rank monsters.
I unleashed my Aura, drawing their attention instantly.
Strange… even though we'd slaughtered every one of their companions, they hadn't intervened until now.
But that wasn't our concern.
...
"Syr, do you think you can handle the two ^Bronze^ Rank monsters?" I asked.
"Yes, I do," she replied with conviction.
I nodded and took a step back, content to observe.
One of the beasts resembled a massive bird—its body structured like an eagle, yet with four powerful legs. You could call it a Griffin, though personally, I preferred Griffin over Griffon.
The other was a large wolf-type monster. Its fur shimmered with a reddish glow, suggesting an affinity with the Fire Element.
It reminded me of the ^Platinum^ tier wolf I'd encountered before—except this one lacked the ability to roar and scorch the environment.
Its skills were limited to Flaming Claw and a Mana Shield.
The Griffin, on the other hand, wielded Wind Element magic. Fitting, considering its avian nature.
...
Syr stepped forward, lowering the mana flow to her blade to 1 million MP per second.
Apparently, she didn't want to kill these two too quickly.
The Griffin immediately took to the air, coordinating with the wolf from above. It unleashed razor-sharp wind claws and condensed air bullets at Syr—but they barely grazed her.
The few that did hit were ones she'd deliberately allowed through.
Meanwhile, the wolf used its agility to rush in for close combat. But again—it was futile.
Syr's Agility was 299 [MAX] –a stat that didn't just boost movement speed but also heightened attack velocity, reflexes, and even physical regeneration.
Not that it caused accelerated aging or anything like that. Proper mana control prevented such side effects.
Still, even if her agility matched mine, the difference wasn't world-shaking.
For example, 100 Agility reduced recovery time by about 1 minute and 40 seconds, meaning each point roughly equaled one second faster regeneration.
But in truth, such numbers barely mattered.
For true Superior Cultivators, battles rarely lasted more than a few seconds. Extended fights only occurred when power levels were nearly equal.
At the ^Ancient^ or ^Transcendent^ Tiers, battles could end in nanoseconds.
That didn't mean the loser was weak—it simply meant they moved and struck so fast that time itself couldn't keep up.
But if it were just about speed, none of that would be an issue.
That's why most cultivators trained in the Law of Minimum Time Break—to gain an advantage by briefly warping time itself, forcing battles to end even faster.
Of course, Time Break isn't the same as the Law of Time.
The former only allows manipulation within a localized space—essentially compressing time in a restricted area.
Now, to explain the Laws themselves—they exist one level higher.
Let's say someone fully grasps the Law of Time, one of the Highest-Level Laws.
When comprehension reaches its peak, the Law evolves into a Higher Law, unlocking even greater power.
Even understanding a mere 0.0001% of the Minimum Time Break Law can drastically affect how time flows in battle.
Otherwise, even fights between ^Ancient^ or ^Transcendent^ Tier beings could drag on for one or two minutes.
...
While I was lost in thought, Syr's battle against the ^Bronze^ Rank monsters had already intensified.
The Griffin's wings were scorched and tattered from her flames, forcing it to the ground.
The wolf, covered in deep gashes, struggled to stay upright.
After another twenty minutes of relentless combat, Syr finally ended it—slaying both monsters cleanly.
I approached her, gently patting her head and running my fingers through her sleek, black hair.
"Well done," I said softly.
Then I collected the Monster Seeds from their corpses and stored them in the bag I'd brought.
The other monsters could've fetched a good price too—but since we had no way to store their bodies, we didn't even consider it.
Now that I think about it, I really need a skill like 『Inventory』 skill.
But… it's not urgent.
The monsters around here don't drop anything valuable—mostly meat, and even that's not worth much. There aren't many places in town willing to buy monster carcasses anyway.
It's 4:02 PM, so it's time to head home.
Just like before, I carried Syr on my back and began our journey back.
We reached the outskirts of town by 4:12 PM. I gently let Syr down before entering the populated area –then continued running toward the orphanage.
By 4:15 PM, I dropped her off and said my goodbyes.
After that, I walked home at a steady pace, reaching the house at 4:35 PM.
I greeted my family warmly and went to take a bath.
Once I was done, I spent the rest of the evening with them—from 5 PM to 10 PM.
Then, at 10:10 PM, I finally lay my head on the pillow.
