Chapter 8 – New Friend
———————————————————
That makes 3,854 days—which means I still need about 10.5 years to reach the Gold Tier.
Anyway, that's enough for today. Once I save up 10,000 Energy, I'll upgrade my Energy Skill to the Super Rare Tier, and then I'll start focusing on other things.

Perfect. I was expecting only a 1% boost, but it turned out to be 2%.
If it's 4% at Epic, 6% at Ultra Epic, and 10% at Legendary, then...
> [Ding... Your prediction is correct, User. The increase will continue as follows:
15% at Ultra Legendary,
20% at Super Legendary,
and 30% at Mysterious Tier.
Anything beyond that is currently unknown.]
Hmm… so the System can only scan and display up to the Mysterious Tier.
And to think I'm getting this strong without even stepping outside...
Maybe my Cultivation Tier won't reach Mysterious, but I'll probably start creating Mysterious-Tier Skills in four or five years.
By then, I'll be six or seven years old... so yeah, still too early to "step into life."
"As long as the System continues scanning beyond my Assessment limit, the Mysterious Level, can't you understand and display the data?" I asked.
> [Ding... The "User" is the valid base of operation.
If the User can scan above the Mysterious Level, I can access and display that information—provided the User allows it.]
[Ding... Suggestion: You can create a Skill that raises the System's Level, or a Skill that grants tasks which yield System Experience.]
A Skill that could passively absorb Mana and raise the System's level... I never thought of that.
If I could assign myself tasks, or build a leveling function into the System—it'd be incredible.
"We'll look into that tomorrow. I've only got 50 Energy left," I said, yawning.
> [Ding... Reminder: You can still create Common-Tier Skills.]
"Is it necessary right now?"
> [Ding... No response.]
"Did think so," I mumbled. "Alright, we'll do it tomorrow. For now, sleep."
I rested my head on my pillow and let my eyelids grow heavy.
...
September 14 – 08:00 AM
As always, I woke up right on time—not a minute early, not a minute late. Even though I've done this for months, it still surprises me sometimes.
Routine as usual: bathroom, kitchen, breakfast, greeting Mom and Dad, helping Mom until 9:00, cleaning up.
Then came sword training with Dad—Carlos—from 9:00 to 12:00.
My technique's visibly improving. Probably because I raised Emperor's Sword Intent (Lowest Level) to 3.4%, which is directly linked to my Emperor's Sword Mastery talent.
At this point, the only reason I lose to Dad is simple—he's just stronger.
"Hah... hah... hah—old tin can! Why are you still this strong? Isn't it time you gave way to the new generation!?" I taunted.
Dad laughed. "Hahaha! You'll need to eat forty more loaves of bread before you can beat me!"
"Heh, just wait! I'll beat you within a year!" I declared boldly, though deep down, I knew it was impossible.
The Silver Tier caps at 1,999 [MAX] Points, while Gold goes up to 4,999 [MAX].
But Dad? He used to be Diamond Tier, with a maximum of 74,999 [MAX] Points.
Even sealed now, his strength is still ridiculous.
"Heh, I really want to see that," Dad chuckled.
And so, our little rivalry continued—half challenge, half joke... but all fun.
The conversation ended.
This time, I didn't do what I usually do—read a book, take a walk, or a nap.
After taking a shower, I decided to go out, thinking maybe I could make some friends.
After wandering around for a few hours, I saw a child being bullied.
Even though I don't see myself as some saint or martyr, I have great power—and protecting the weak should be my duty.
After all, I don't want to become arrogant just because my power is a little special.
To prevent that, I help the weak and remind myself of where I once stood.
But if someone refuses to improve even after being helped, then they simply don't deserve it.

I'm a little surprised when I get the System message.
Beating up these kids gives ten times more reward than beating Mike in my previous life—though, excluding the stat rewards.
Anyway, I approach them and say, "That's enough," in a commanding tone.
The one who seems to be the leader turns toward me. "Who the hell are you? We'll do whatever we want. But if you want to join that kid, we won't stop you."
Hmm... "Assessment," I think.

"Hmph. How can a weak kid like you even try to threaten me?" I say to the boy named Dalus.
Dalus grits his teeth. "How dare you call me weak!?" He starts throwing punches—sloppy, wild punches that make me almost laugh.
I dodge every one with ease. For me, it's just child's play.
Then, using about forty percent of my power, I land a punch straight to his stomach.
He doubles over and falls to his knees, spitting as he hits the ground.
Looks like his health dropped by about 186. So I guess every Power Point gives around ten attack damage.
As Dalus collapses, I look at Leon and Caus and say calmly, "Take him and get out of my sight."
But I leave just a trace of killing intent in my eyes—enough for even ordinary people to feel it.
They pale immediately, grab Dalus, and run off without looking back.

Hmm, so there are two names. Either she's a noble from some fallen kingdom living in secret… or she's been here since childhood and doesn't even know her true name.
I think the second option makes more sense.
I slowly walked toward Syr, leaned down a bit, and extended my hand. "Are you okay? Can you stand?" I asked gently.
She looked up at me and whispered, "T-thank you… sir," before taking my hand.
I didn't say anything—I just stared.
How could anyone bully such a beautiful and sweet girl… just because her hair was black?
In truth, black hair is extremely rare in this world. It either comes with a congenital disease or appears in those who are born without roots—or broken.
After looking at Syr's face for a few seconds, I smiled and said, "My name is Kael. Kael Oksileon. You can call me Kael."
Syr lowered her head shyly. "H-hello Kael… m-my name is Syr!"
Most likely, everyone had kept their distance from her since she was a baby, and that was probably why she reacted that way.
Then Syr asked, "A-aren't you afraid of me?"
I tilted my head. "Hmm? Why would I be afraid of a beautiful girl like you?"
She hesitated. "M-my hair is black…"
"So?" I replied casually.
"Only cursed children are born with black hair," Syr muttered.
The moment I heard that, anger welled up inside me. If there are people born with black hair, they start life behind everyone else, and instead of helping them, THESE VILLAGERS dare to call her cursed!?
I gently stroked Syr's hair and said, "If these beautiful locks really come from a curse, then that curse can't be all that bad."
It was a silly line, I admit.
Even though I praised her and showed I saw her as normal, I had unintentionally made her "curse" sound like something trivial.
Syr looked up at me, her eyes glimmering with mixed emotions. "T-thank you…" she murmured, looking both happy and sad.
"It doesn't matter how others see you or how they want to see you," I told her softly. "What truly matters is how you see yourself."
"And I don't think your hair is a curse. If you look at it from a broader perspective, it's actually quite rare—unique, even," I added, hoping to ease her heart a little.
It worked.
Syr smiled faintly. "K-Kael, thank you so much. You're right… what matters isn't how others see me—it's how I see myself!" she said, her voice more confident this time.
I couldn't help but smile back.
A few seconds later, Syr looked at me again, her cheeks slightly flushed. "I-if you don't mind… I'd like to be friends with you!!"
"Of course," I replied instantly. "I'd be happy to be friends with such a beautiful and sweet lady."
Syr blushed deeper, turned her face away, and smiled shyly…
After that, we talked for about an hour—about ourselves, our daily lives, and our favorite foods.
I learned quite a lot about Syr during that time. Just as I suspected, she'd been living here since childhood, raised in the orphanage.
Even though everyone else kept their distance, the "Mother" of the orphanage had always treated Syr with kindness and sincerity.
That "Mother" already earned a few points in my book—but I'll decide whether to truly trust her when I meet her in person.
If her actions match her kindness, maybe I can make her life a little easier.
When I was talking with Syr, I told her that I was only one and a half years old—and that I'd turn two in three months. She was completely shocked.
After all, we were nearly the same height. Syr stood about 1.3 meters tall, and I was around 1.4.
She looked at me, wide-eyed. "How can a one-year-old child fight like that?"
I smirked. "I'm just built different." I said in a joking tone.
And just like in one of those anime scenes from my previous world, she puffed her cheeks and shouted, "Stupid!"
Normally, that would seem childish, but seeing Syr act like that somehow made my heart skip a beat.
It's kind of silly, especially since I haven't even hit puberty yet.
And while I'm at it—no, I don't entertain any of those dumb anime clichés like "I've been reborn but my mental age is older, so I can't be with her."
If I fall in love, I fall in love—simple as that. Age doesn't matter.
Of course, when this body turns sixteen, I won't be looking at ten-year-old girls that way.
It might sound weird, but if the girl's eighteen, mature, and genuinely interested in me… I wouldn't reject her even if I were a hundred years old.
Though honestly, who knows where I'll even be by the time I hit a hundred?
Ultimately, age is irrelevant on the planet Ocsilaus.
Mortals: 50–60 Years
Bronze Tier: 100–150 Years
Silver Tier: 500–550 Years
Gold Tier: 1,000–1,100 Years
Platinum Tier: 2,500–2,650 Years
Diamond Tier: 5,000–5,200 Years
So, for those at the Platinum Tier, a 500 or even 1,000-year age gap between couples is completely normal.
And as for me, I can live for about 1,500 years with Silver Tier power, since my Body Purification is currently at the Silver Tier.
Body Purification grants you twice the lifespan compared to normal cultivation.
...
After our conversation, I asked Syr, "Would you like to come to my house? I'd like to introduce you to my family as my first friend."
Syr's eyes lit up. "Of course, I'd love to! I'd be delighted to meet the family of my first friend," she said, her voice cheerful and steady.
She no longer stuttered when speaking to me—probably because she no longer saw me as a threat and felt more comfortable around me.
...
After walking for about fifteen minutes, we finally reached my house.
When we stopped at the garden gate, I noticed Syr suddenly tense up. Even though she'd warmed up to me, she hadn't met my family yet. She was probably nervous about how they'd treat her.
"Don't worry," I said gently. "Mom and Dad are really good people. They won't judge you by your appearance. Besides, only Mom's home right now."
It must've worked, because Syr straightened up and said more confidently, "Don't worry, I'm not nervous anymore."
...
Knock knock knock
...
I knocked on the door and waited for Mom to open it.
Footsteps
Door creaks open
"Kael, honey, is that you?" my mom said as soon as the door opened.
Then her gaze shifted to Syr standing beside me. "Oh, honey, who is this lovely young lady?"
I replied, "Her name is Syr. She's an elf. I met her today—she's a really kind person."
Mom smiled warmly. "Well, don't just stand out there. Come in, both of you. And Kael, introduce us properly to your friend."
I stepped inside, but Syr hesitated at the doorway. I reached out, took her hand, and gently pulled her along.
She followed me inside, looking a little embarrassed.
...
We entered the living room, and Mom said, "Syr, please, have a seat. Make yourself at home."
It was a bit awkward, since Syr lived in an orphanage… but she didn't seem bothered by it. She smiled softly and replied, "Okay, ma'am," before sitting down next to me.
Mom then introduced herself. "My name is Maria—Maria Oksileon. You can call me Maria, dear."
Syr smiled politely. "My name is Syr. Just Syr, ma'am. It's nice to meet you."
Mom chuckled. "And I'm very pleased to meet you too, Syr. Tell me a little about yourself. After all, anyone who becomes my son's first friend must be someone special."
The two of them talked for about twenty minutes. Mom didn't treat Syr like a child—she spoke to her as an equal.
Then the topic shifted to me.
Mom started talking about how I'd never cried since birth, how calm I'd always been, and how special I was.
Of course, she didn't mention my Level. That's something personal—and she knows she has no right to talk about it.
No matter how much I trust Syr, if my rank ever got exposed, these peaceful days would end.
Naturally, I joined in whenever the conversation turned to me. Still, I couldn't help feeling a bit embarrassed hearing Mom praise me like that.
Then Mom asked Syr how we'd met. Syr looked nervous at first, but she told the whole story from the beginning.
Mom sighed softly. "Syr, don't listen to those idiots. Always love yourself, take care of yourself. It doesn't matter what others say—whether they call you cursed or anything else. What matters is what you do."
Syr smiled. "You two really are mother and son. Kael told me almost the exact same thing."
Mom grinned proudly. "Hmm, of course he did. After all, whose son do you think he is?"
I blushed a little, feeling embarrassed again.
...
Time passed, and Mom and Syr grew surprisingly close.
But unfortunately, it was getting late. The sun was about to set—it was nearly 6:00 PM.
I said to Mom, "I'll walk Syr home. If anything happens to her, it'll be my fault."
Knowing my strength, Mom smiled and replied calmly, "Of course, son. Go ahead and come back safely—I'll be waiting."
...
As Syr and I walked together, I suddenly felt a faint killing intent ahead.
Was it an animal… or something else?
I had a feeling.
...
After walking for another five minutes, six people emerged from the shadows where the forest began to thicken.
Just as I suspected—it was Dalus, Leon, and Caus, along with three other young men in their late teens.
Even though I already knew how weak they were, I still said, "Assess," and checked their Status.

I looked at them and asked, "What, you came here to get beaten up again?"
Dalus flared up and shouted to his older brother and friends, "Brothers, this is the bastard who beat us — teach him a lesson."
Derald sneered, "Huh. Don't worry, we're not as weak as you are."
Of course you're stronger than them — you're adults, after all, I thought.
Then Derald said, "Calenus, Reonardo, just watch. I'll take care of this kid."
I replied, voice laced with a faint killing intent, "I'm looking forward to seeing you try."
Pride made them ignore the fear crawling up their spines. Their survival instincts blinked, confused by bravado.
Syr watched me with worry. No matter how much I'd defended Dalus and his gang earlier, these brothers were a different class — grown-ups. She said nothing useful; the only alternative would have been to run, and she knew I wouldn't leave her. "Be careful, Kael," she murmured.
I gave her a light, warm smile. "Don't worry, Syr. Nothing will happen to you."
Derald spat, "Look at those brats, ignoring me and acting cute," and launched into a coordinated, trained attack. Still, none of his blows connected.
After dodging for a minute and getting bored, I started landing two punches per second into his stomach. His health fell by exactly 920, leaving him with roughly forty percent remaining. I could tell his organs were damaged — I hated myself for going that far.
When blood pooled at Derald's mouth, the other two charged me at full force.
I dodged both of them and struck each in the stomach. One lost 400 health, the other 460. The first took only 400 damage likely because his stomach muscles were tighter — clear evidence of training.
Then, mid-fight—

Hero or not, I wasn't about to ignore this.
When Derald's mouth was covered in blood, the other two immediately charged at me with full force.
I dodged their punches effortlessly and landed a solid strike on each of their stomachs. Their health dropped—one by 400, the other by 460.
The first one took slightly less damage because his stomach muscles were tighter. It was obvious he had trained his body, making him a bit more resistant.
Even so, it didn't matter. Their attacks were no match for me. I continued striking, landing precise blows, keeping my movements fluid and efficient. Within moments, it was clear how weak they were compared to my reduced stats.
Syr watched anxiously from behind me, but I could sense her growing trust. She knew I wouldn't let anything happen to her.
Derald and the others staggered, their expressions a mix of disbelief and pain. They had thought themselves stronger, had thought I was just a child. But now, every strike reminded them just how wrong they had been.
And still, I didn't exert my full power. Even at 7.5% of my true strength, I was untouchable.
I glanced at Syr and gave a reassuring smile. "See? Nothing to worry about."
She nodded slightly, her face a mixture of relief and awe.
The fight would end soon, and these brats would learn the hard way that underestimating someone walking the Hero's Path was a mistake they wouldn't forget.
So, actually, Can points weren't that important. After all, this isn't a game—how could they possibly affect real life?
But the system wasn't scanning at work either…

I immediately focused on Derald and used Healing from my mind.
After using "Healing" for one minute, his HP rose from 42.5% to 90%, and I stopped. I had restored exactly 760 HP, consuming 7,600 Mana Points. Ten times the ordinary cost, likely because this skill was at Common Tier.
Derald was still unconscious, but Reonardo and Calenus were awake. I ordered them, "Take Derald and get out of here."
They didn't hesitate—they lifted Derald and ran.
I turned to Syr and said, "Come on, let's get you home."
Syr nodded slightly, and we headed toward the orphanage.
But as we walked, she did something unexpected—she wrapped her arm around mine.
I didn't know what to say, so I didn't say anything. I just let her hold my arm as we continued.
...
After twenty more minutes, we reached the orphanage.
"See you tomorrow," I said to Syr, turning to leave.
But she called out, "Wait!" She ran up to me, pressed a kiss to my cheek, and exclaimed, "See you later, idiot!" before running inside.
As a boy, the kiss felt nice, of course. But thinking about it rationally, it was dangerous for Syr—it was too early for such gestures. The only reason she'd done it was because I was there, protecting her when no one else would.
Still, my standing up to Derald and the others had left some impact on her, I could tell.
But I didn't dwell on it. In time, I would help Syr, ensuring she could trust me without fear.
...
Back home, I greeted my family. Dad had just returned as well—the round trip to the orphanage had taken almost two hours, since I walked slowly on the way back. It was past eight o'clock.
After greeting everyone, I went to the bathroom, cleaned up thoroughly, and lay down for a bit.
Lying there, I realized how different today had been. Normally, my days followed a routine, but today… it was special. The friendship I had built with Syr, the events of the day—they made it unforgettable.

After chatting with my family until around 11 PM, I went to my room to sleep.
