CALLUM 'S POV
The announcement hit me harder than a silver bullet.
I sat there at the long oak table, trying to keep my expression neutral, but my wolf was already pacing inside me... growling, angry.
Dad just declared that Riley, the runaway daughter who had barely returned home, would be taking over Highridge Holdings.
The same company I'd been running in his absence for the last four years.
I'd worked myself raw for this family, fixing her mess while she lived a quiet life hiding from her own mistakes. And now she was supposed to take everything from me... again?
I forced a smile, though it felt more like a grimace. "Congratulations, Riley," I said, each word tasting like ash.
Her eyes widened, clearly shocked like she hadn't even agreed to it yet.
"Thank you," she murmured, voice soft and uncertain. "But Dad, I—"
"There's nothing to think about," Mum cut her off sharply. "You've been gone long enough, so it's time to take responsibility for your name."
