Chapter 24 - Enemy Worth The Caution [5]

Cale did not know who exactly Raven was but it wasn't out of the realm of possibility for Catrina to befriend someone like her

'Maybe they are related and don't know it?'

"Pf"

A chuckle left Cale's lips at the absurdity that entered his mind

'If this were a novel, the author would somehow connect those two and make them half-siblings or fuse them together in one body'

Cale looked at the twins. Gravel dozing off, almost ready to fall completely to the floor

"Where is the rest of the class?"

He finally brought himself to ask the million-dollar question that usually had something like 'How many times did John crap in his toilet for it to break?'

"Outside?"

"...?"

Now Cale was the one confused, Gravel Ignored the two and took his seat, like a soldier getting ready to sleep after a long day of pure exhaustion

Raven looked at Gravel for a while before explaining

"The teacher couldn't come and there wasn't any teacher that could substitute us this hour, so they just let us go outside in the courtyard"

"Ah...got it"

He more or less understood so Cale took his backpack that was on his desk and walked outside of the classroom, his gaze looked back and saw Raven about to close the door

"Wait"

"What, you forgot something?"

"If everyone is outside, then why did you two come here?"

Raven was gently playing with her long grey silver hair that cascaded down her shoulders as she took in the scene of the boy before her, the dark shade in his eyes growing deeper with more intricate lines showering them, though seeing the lines themselves did not seem possible even as when looking at him with her Silver eyes that were reminiscent of Ash.

The answer took long to leave her lips, but she eventually gave a reason

"Hmm. Well there isn't really a reason. I just didn't want to stay outside where there was basically no shade to sit in and all sunlight, I mean...today is really hot." she fanned her face with her other hand that was free from the door

Right now was September and while summer did pass. It was still scorching hot even in this remote town that was higher in altitude, many of the roads slope and inclined at a consistent manner, usually though, sometimes there are some absurd slopes that were a real pain in the rear to walk through

"As for Gravel, my brother. He just wanted a place to sleep in and what better place for that than our Classroom"

She shrugged, sticking out her tongue slightly through the gaps of her lips

Both Cale and Raven then stared at Gravel who was plopped down over his desk sleeping soundly.

"I see... well see you later"

"Yeah, see ya~"

Turning around, the navigation on his brain changed destinations and outside was set as the designated point. Raven looked at Cale from behind while still gently fiddling with her hair

'Was his name Cale Dice?'

She recalled his name, not out of any special reason, she simply just wanted to know and remember it, feeling he was nice enough for him to become a good friend of Gravel

"I'll make sure to remember it~" She then closed the door, still playing and fiddling with her hair gently

'I'm such a nice sibling~ Getting my lonely brother a new friend he could hang around with'

Raven's mom and dad did say to make sure he got a friend to hang out with in high school since his friends left overseas and transferred to another school

Cale felt a slight chill running down his body, not because of Raven but because he had felt that he missed something.

But just as he was having such thoughts

"You. Are you Cale Dice?"

A teacher called out to his name, the teacher wasn't know to him personally but he stopped regardless

"Yes?"

"Please come with me"

"???"

Cale was confused by the sudden 'You're in big trouble now' setup.

'Did I do something?'

It felt like he did with the way the teacher was speaking to him.

'Just what did my doppelganger even do?'

Cale screamed internally inside at the bullshit he faced the moment he stepped outside of Gardenia

'I was joking when I said I'd drop a brick on you...'

He said this, but now he wants to get into a brawl and make the doppelganger fight them

Timidly, he followed the teacher to their office

It wasn't the principal's office, but the vice principal's

Instinctively, he looked at the silver nameplate with bold black-gold letters engraved on it

[Vice Principal. Bringam Vileon]

"..."

Something like this wasn't even surprising when he almost just died half an hour before

But the student that was already in the office did become Cale's center of attention.

"Cale Dice, do you know why you're here?"

"No" he shrugged, having not a single clue why and what events conspired behind the scenes

"I see...Well the student next to you tells me an interesting story"

"..?"

Cale looked at the student sitting on the chair, he had a bob cut with bleached green hair

'What kind of bi-'

"He is telling me that you pushed him of the stairs, now tell me. Is this true?"

"????"

The sudden framing made Cale almost lose his last bit of sanity he desperately held on

"Cale Dice, I take your silence as-"

"Sir, I'm sorry but I don't know what you are talking about but I for one never pushed anyone off the stairs"

Immediately before the teacher finished his sentence. Cale cut him off, this could make him seen as disrespectful and make the teacher side more with the student accusing him, but if he changed the flow of the conversation by doing that and making it into a conversation into 'respect' and make himself pitiable in the eyes of the teacher, he would easily be able to avoid any kind of suspension planned out for him

He was good at lying and acting in the good graces of many, it was just something he picked up when all the teachers at his school were against him even though he was in the right, of course in this situation he wasn't in the wrong either

"What?! you're denying it!"

"Stop talking"

He told the student to stop talking, only then did he stop barking like a dog.

"What makes you think I'll believe you? this person has witnesses that claim you pushed him off"

Cale stared at the boy outside, it seemed he was the only witness, he didn't waste any time and even though he wasn't able to change the flow of the conversation, it was still salvageable

"Well first thing that I have to clear up Is that I've never met, spoken nor ever seen this person here, he's also not even my classmate....I do not know who this person is at all"

Meaning there was no direct motive here. Not to mention the fact that he has never met this guy ever. This was why Cale was originally so confused.

Though this wasn't enough to clear his name, it was enough to get out the facts out first and then slowly explain them timidly

'What the hell did that doppelganger do? That thing only had one job too...'

This drama could not be caused by anything other than the doppelganger, which was going to make explaining this even harder for Cale who did not know the exact facts of the incident.

'That thing only had one job and screwed even that up huh'

Cale kept cursing the Doppelganger for a little while longer
