A couple minutes went by until the doors of the principal's office opened. Out came the Addams being led by Enid on tour to Wednesday's new dorm. Morticia and Gomez were reminiscing on the past while Wednesday gave me a sideeye. For a moment I thought she asked for help with Enid's out going personality.
Then who I believe to be the principal stepped out, "good morning Elliott, I'm principal Larissa Weems. Please come in, there's much to be discussed with you in private."
Inside the office was elegant with a beautifully crafted fireplace, "take a seat please."
I sat down while she took out a folder, "you have the same track record of leaving schools as Wednesday however it was only the last one were you were expelled. Tell me Elliott is this behavior something that should concern the safety of the school? All the teachers you've had say your a calm and collected individual who keeps to himself and yet is always seen at the crime when it comes to Wednesday."
"Well at the last school I simply defended Pugsley who's an Outcast from the normies who bullied him. I see no reason for me to harm my fellow peers here."
She banged her index finger on the desk rhythmically, "Nevermore shares connections and often events with the near town, Jericho. I expect you to behave better from now on, no normies should be put in harm's why just like the Outcasts. Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes Mrs Weems."
"Good, now onto the next subject. Both you and Wednesday will attend therapy sessions regularly. I will escort you both to Jericho and make sure that none of you have any bright ideas on escaping."
"Wouldn't dream of leaving Nevermore so soon but why Jericho, is a normie our therapist?"
"Dr. Valerie Kinbott is a professional and you are lucky to have someone as talented as her in Jericho. Will that be a problem?"
"No just surprised. It's my first time in therapy so I thought an Outcast would naturally help an Outcast in a therapy session."
Principal Weems nodded and folded her folder placing it back in her desk. She held out her hands on the desk and straightened her back in a serious manner as she sat down. "This is to remain off the record which is something I rarely do. Morticia has confided in me your Outcast nature. It is my sworn duty to protect both this school and its students. Keeping that in mind I've given a separate dorm room for yourself in the basement of the male dormitory. This is not to deem nor judge you in a bad light but to provide you with a safe space to enable you to use your talents in a private setting. I hope that if any problems arrive I will be the one you go to for assistance and I deduct you won't use your gifts on the inhabitants of the school, correct?"
"Yes Mrs Weems, I understand."
"Wonderful, allow me to show you to your dorm alongside a quick tour of Nevermore."
***
"Now do you remember the path to the entrance of the school?"
"Yes its an easy layout to remember."
"Perfect, the Addams should be waiting there to say their goodbyes but first let's check your room. I don't want there to be any leaking that they forgot to fixed." She muttered.
We were in the basement of the dormitory and my room was next to the machines that kept the building warm plus any other machinery of importance. Principal Weems opened the door and revealed the inside. It was large and lit only by a couple of light bulbs. On the far right my bed was placed next to a wall with vines growing on it. The rest of the room was barren with the exception of the cauldron I ordered ahead of time.
I walked over to it while Mrs Weems inspected the integrity of the room. The cauldron's design was haunting, the outside had faces like masks from a theater; some sad, others happy, a couple angered with a few in pain. "I don't recall ordering a design."
"In a dream perhaps." Jested Mrs Weems. "The room is habitable, I'll order some more lamps or light bulbs in case these go out. You won't be able to see if they go out. I'll leave you to unpack anything, remember theres a curfew and I don't allow girls in your dorms past curfew nor any intimate actions. Understood?"
"Yes Mrs Weems."
"Good, I alone am in charge of this dorm room so don't give me cause to concern myself. I have a busy and tight schedule." With that she left.
I looked around the room, "I should furnish the place. Make it lively, its kinda creepy with the light bulbs flickering and reflecting the light of the dark stone walls." I stared at the cauldron, "you aren't helping much either with the vibe of the place."
I dropped my baggage off for me to later unpack and made my way to the entrance of the school. The few boys I passed gave me an odd look as I left the basement. I even heard a couple whisper, "the henchmen made his lair in the basement."
At the entrance I saw Morticia waiting outside while Gomez and Pugsley waited in the car. Lurch was standing next to the vehicle waiting to open the door for Morticia to get in. Lady Morticia smiled as she saw me but there was hint of sadness in her eyes.
"I guess Wednesday said her goodbyes."
"My brilliant daughter has a way with words. How was the tour of Nevermore, is it everything you imagined?"
"They placed me in the basement alone, I'm not sure if I'll like it there but the rest of the school has some great architecture."
She placed a hand on my cheek, "it's for your safety mi niño. Just think of it as a resting place if you must. If the air is too stale for you, go outside, take in the sights of what the brightest minds of Outcasts created. I'll give you an incentive and tell you there is much to be discovered here. I do hope you enjoy yourself."
Gomez spoke from the car, "come here my boy, I have one last gift before our departure."
I got closer to the car and he handed me a turntable with a couple of vinyl records, "thanks, it'll definitely set a better mood in the basement."
He whispered softly, "there's a couple, romantic records for when you find the right moment for the mood."
"Oh, thanks." I said not understanding the guidance and wisdom he gave me.
Pugsley spoke, "hey, remember to call. Wednesday has a crystal ball in case something happens." I could tell he was feeling a bit lonely since neither me or Wednesday would join him at school any longer.
I nodded and Morticia asked me a question, "by the way Elliott where's the talisman Wednesday gifted you?"
The thought crossed my mind, I had somehow forgotten. I looked in my pockets for it, finding it in a pocket hidden inside my sweater I answered, "here it is, never too far from me. I normally enjoy fidgeting with it."
She smiled, "you should wear it, only then would it serve its purpose."
"I will." I said placing it back in my pocket.
I stepped aside for Morticia to go inside the car and waved as they left. When they went out of view Wednesday appeared next to me, "finally free from their shackles only to be imprisoned in this educational penitentiary."
"You still thinking of escaping?"
"Wouldn't you after being casted aside to the sewers."
"I've waited years to come here, I don't want to leave before being let down from hyping it up all these years. At least give it a chance, for me at least?"
She remained silent for a few seconds, "I take it your assistance in my escape is out of the question?"
"No, I'll help if needed but don't expect me to become your get away driver. There's still much to see and I can leave on my own without asking for your help."
She turned to me annoyed at my comment, "there's a lot of forestry around here, I'd hate for you to be injured."
"Unlike you, I haven't developed a phobia of trees as of late."
"You should!"
I looked at her confused for the sudden raise in tone. Wednesday kept holding my gaze without explaining herself, "come, I need to remodel my room first if I want any clear thoughts. It's plagued by a unicorn who vomited all over it." She said leaving for her dorm.
"Wait, I also need to fix my place up. It needs more than just a little makeup."
Wednesday didn't even turn around knowing I was following right behind her as always.
