Deep within the highest authority of the multiverse stood a palace shaped like the character "全" — "Zen," the Palace of the Omni-King.
It gleamed in pristine white, its lines smooth and pure, exuding both holiness and brilliance.
At that moment, a seven-colored beam of light descended from the heavens.
"Father, I have something to discuss with you."
Whis bowed respectfully before the grand doors of the Omni-King's Palace.
Moments later, a small figure emerged from within.
Silver hair, light blue skin, violet eyes and lips…
His appearance resembled that of the angels — except for the divine ring that floated behind his head.
It was none other than the Grand Priest, one of the five strongest beings in all existence.
Each step he took carried quiet authority. Though his lips were curved into a gentle smile, his eyes radiated the cold detachment of one who looked down upon all creation.
"Whis," he said softly, his eyes narrowing slightly, "to what do I owe this visit?"
"Father, I'm sure you're already aware… the candidate for the God of Destruction in Universe 7 has officially taken up the mantle."
Whis's tone was cautious, almost testing.
"I am aware."
Just as he expected.
Whis gave a strained laugh. "I thought so. Then… what do you think of that boy?"
The Grand Priest turned his gaze toward him, smiling faintly. "Why so nervous?"
Whis opened his mouth, but before he could speak
"His talent is monstrous," the Grand Priest interrupted calmly. "I see in him the potential to surpass."
Rumble!
Whis's heart trembled. To receive such high praise from his father… it was unheard of.
But… surpass who?
The Grand Priest's expression shifted slightly. "As for his origins…"
Whis's breath hitched — this was the part that concerned him most.
"Indeed, his background is shrouded in mystery," the Grand Priest said slowly. "But it's nothing alarming. Continue training him without worry."
"Yes, Father."
Whis let out a long breath of relief. If the Grand Priest had personally said there was no issue, then Gran's existence must have already been evaluated — and deemed safe.
The Grand Priest noticed Whis still standing there. "Is there something else?"
Whis hesitated, then smiled wryly. "Father, I recall that when I was young, you once told me a story…"
"Oh?"
"You mentioned that a Saiyan once challenged Lord Zeno himself. Did I remember that correctly?"
The air froze for three long seconds.
Finally, the Grand Priest chuckled faintly. "So you still remember that story."
"Then it's true!" Whis exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement.
So the Saiyan race really did have such an ancient legend! Perhaps that was why traces of their name still appeared in the archives of the divine.
But the Grand Priest's brows drew together. "Whis, your emotions have been unstable lately."
"..."
Whis's expression froze.
Ever since Gran appeared in the God of Destruction's Realm, his life had become… noisier. Between that mischievous boy and Beerus's endless bickering, how could he stay calm?
"My apologies, Father. I was careless."
"You'd better reflect on it," the Grand Priest said sternly. "Among all your siblings, aside from your eldest sister, you possess the highest potential. If you keep coasting along like this, how will you ever reach"
"Stop, stop, stop!" Whis interrupted, rolling his eyes. "Please, Father, spare me the lecture. Tell me about that Saiyan who challenged Lord Zeno instead — I've almost forgotten the details."
The Grand Priest sighed. "You never change."
But his tone softened, a rare note of amusement slipping through.
"Very well, I'll tell you once more."
"A long, long time ago — in the primordial age — the first Saiyan appeared in Universe 7. His name was Odys."
"Odys…" Whis murmured, stunned. "So the Saiyan race truly has such deep roots…"
"At first," said the Grand Priest, "Odys's power was nothing remarkable. He couldn't even defeat the God of Destruction of that era."
"But over time, his strength grew. In just ten years, he achieved a transformation of sheer, unrestrained rage — and with it, defeated that very God of Destruction."
As he spoke, a faint glimmer of nostalgia flashed in the Grand Priest's eyes.
"Unrestrained rage transformation?" Whis frowned. "You mean Saiyans could transform, even back then?"
"I can't say for the entire race," replied the Grand Priest, "but Odys certainly could. Whenever he entered that state, his hair turned grass-green — and he completely lost his reason."
"Lost his reason… and still defeated a God of Destruction?!" Whis gasped.
His astonishment was understandable. Gods of Destruction were chosen from among the strongest of the strong — prodigies among countless worlds.
And to defeat one without divine power or rational control? That bordered on impossible.
"That transformation was… peculiar," said the Grand Priest quietly. "It allowed Odys's strength to rise without limit."
At those words, Whis's pupils shrank violently.
Unlimited growth — infinite potential power.
Even the divine realm could not ignore the meaning of such words.
Fleetingly, Whis thought — if pure mortal strength could truly rise without ceiling, then even gods… could fall.
"So what happened after that?" he asked in a low voice.
The Grand Priest chuckled, helplessly. "That brute was a battle maniac. Fifty years later, he came to challenge me."
Whis's jaw dropped. "You?! But, Father — you're among the top five in all existence!"
"And that," said the Grand Priest, his lips curling upward, "is exactly why I didn't fight him."
Whis blinked. "Then…?"
"I introduced him to Lord Zeno."
For a brief moment, the Grand Priest's serene face twisted into a mischievous grin.
"..."
Whis could only stare blankly, his expression twitching.
No wonder his sister Vados was so sly — clearly, she'd inherited that from their father.
