Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Time to Speak with Father

Meanwhile, far away in the Realm of Destruction, Whis was leisurely watching the scene unfold through his staff — the clash between Gran and the Supreme Kai, Shin.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" Whis chuckled softly. "He's actually run into the Supreme Kai of this era… and it looks like they're about to fight. How amusing — a Supreme Kai against a candidate God of Destruction!"

His tone was playful, almost curious, as his eyes followed the image reflected in the staff's crystal surface.

He could clearly see Shin making the first move, launching a strike at Gran.

Shin possessed the dimensional level of a god — his divine ki setting him apart from mortals entirely.

Normally, any mortal confronted with that kind of divine presence would find it impossible to even sense where their opponent was.

Even though Gran's dimensional level now stood at the pinnacle of the Kaiō class, he still hadn't yet crossed into the divine dimension of a true Supreme Kai or God of Destruction.

In other words, he shouldn't have been able to feel Shin's energy at all.

"What a pity…" Whis sighed softly.

"Gran has lived in the Realm of Destruction for two years now — he's long been accustomed to divine ki."

"Even if that weren't the case, his mental state has already reached the threshold of selflessness. Add to that his first-stage Instinctual Body Reflex"

Whis smiled faintly. "—Gran can easily sense where the Supreme Kai is, even without seeing him."

From Whis's perspective, Shin's raw power did indeed surpass Gran's — perhaps by nearly double.

But strength alone never guaranteed victory.

Gran was Whis's own disciple — a being trained directly by an Angel.

Shin, on the other hand, was untrained, inexperienced, and woefully naive.

Even if his power was several times higher, the outcome of this fight was already decided.

This was destined to be a one-sided battle.

Somewhere not far from Planet Yardrat

Shin was the first to attack. His figure blurred from sight.

"Divine ki, huh? Unfortunately for you—it won't work on me!"

A faint silver glow began to ripple across Gran's body — the sign of his Ultra Instinct – Omen form activating.

He moved.

And vanished from sight as well.

A moment later, Shin's fist was about to land on Gran

But at the very last instant, Gran's body twisted at an impossible angle, effortlessly dodging the blow.

It wasn't conscious movement — his body itself was reacting on instinct.

"Impossible…!"

Before Shin could recover, Gran's heel crashed into his chest, sending him flying backward like a meteor.

"How… how did you do that?" Shin demanded as he wiped a thin trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth.

Gran's expression was calm, his silver aura shimmering faintly. "You mean how I avoided your attack, or how my body reacts on its own?"

"Body reacting on its own? That's impossible! No one could develop instinctive control to that degree!"

Gran smiled lightly. "Maybe no one else—but I can. Don't forget, I'm a candidate for God of Destruction."

He motioned for Shin to come again. "Enough talk. Show me, Supreme Kai — how strong are you, really?"

Rage burned through Shin's veins.

Teeth clenched, he surged forward once more.

Punches, kicks, elbows — his attacks came faster and fiercer than before.

The starry void itself trembled.

But Gran's movements were impossibly fluid — each dodge looked casual, almost lazy, yet every strike missed him by inches.

Kibito, watching from the distance, felt a chill run down his spine.

The Supreme Kai was completely overpowered.

When Shin realized he couldn't even graze Gran's clothing, humiliation boiled into fury.

"If you're so strong, then stop dodging and take this punch head-on!"

Gran's eyes gleamed. "As you wish."

He charged forward, fists meeting Shin's in a deafening impact.

BOOM!

The explosion of power rippled like a tidal wave, sending a storm through the void.

Shin felt the surge — his strength was superior. A smile flickered across his lips. This time, you'll die for sure

"Hey, Shin… what are you smiling about?" Gran's voice came from right in front of him, calm and steady.

Shin's pupils shrank. "How—?! My strength is far greater than yours! Why are you unharmed?"

Gran tilted his head. "You're wondering why I'm fine?"

With a simple shift of motion, he redirected Shin's force entirely.

Then, stepping back, he smiled faintly. "Because I've fought beasts in the Sumi Realm and sparred countless times with Lord Beerus himself. My combat awareness, my instincts, my experience—they all far surpass yours."

Shin blinked, utterly lost. Half the words Gran said didn't even make sense to him.

Before he could react again, a white sphere of energy flared to life, hovering right before his face.

The heat made his skin sear instantly.

The killing intent froze him in place.

"Be grateful, Shin," Gran said softly. "You're a Supreme Kai. That's the only reason you're still alive."

The energy sphere faded from Gran's hand.

Shin stood there, trembling. He understood perfectly — had he been anyone else, he'd already be dead.

"Supreme Kai, are you all right?!" Kibito rushed to his side.

Shin shook his head slowly, voice heavy with defeat. "No… I'm not his match."

The realization stung. He had dreamed of destroying the boy — only to find himself powerless before him.

Gran sighed. "You're not my opponent, that's normal. You rule over creation. I, on the other hand, govern destruction. We're opposites by nature — and battle is the domain of destruction."

His tone softened slightly. "But take my advice — stop recreating those useless planets."

He turned slightly, eyes narrowing. "If Lord Beerus finds out you've been restoring the worlds he destroyed, your fate might end up the same as that of the Old Supreme Kai."

"Old… Supreme Kai?" Shin's eyes widened.

Another name he'd never heard before — another crack in everything he thought he knew.

Hadn't he been the only Supreme Kai left in the universe?

Gran shook his head, half amused, half pitying. "You really are ignorant. Fine — when I'm done with my current matters, I'll help you release the Old Supreme Kai myself."

He turned to leave, heading back toward Planet Yardrat. The presence of Shin in the universe didn't worry him much.

After all, the Dragon Ball timeline hadn't truly begun yet — the universe was still relatively peaceful.

"Wait! Where are you going? You're not planning to destroy more planets, are you?!"

Gran twitched slightly at the remark, resisting the urge to reply.

With a flicker of silver light, he vanished into the stars.

"What now, Supreme Kai?" Kibito asked nervously.

Shin's gaze lingered on the space where Gran disappeared, confusion clouding his thoughts.

"Everything he said… I've never heard of any of it. I don't know any Beerus. I don't know any 'Old Supreme Kai'…"

His fists clenched.

"He's strong — terrifyingly so. But if he wanted to harm us, he wouldn't have spared us just now. For now, we follow him. I want to see what that child is really after."

"Yes, Supreme Kai."

Back in the Realm of Destruction

"The gap was just too big. There's no way the Supreme Kai could win against Gran," Whis mused, lounging back in his chair, snacking as he watched the crystal's fading image.

When the scene ended, he nodded, clearly pleased.

"Good, good. At least he had the sense to show restraint at the end."

Finishing the last of his treats, Whis rose gracefully to his feet.

"Lord Beerus is asleep again, and Gran has left the Realm of Destruction…"

He smiled faintly, a glint in his eye.

"Then I suppose it's about time I went to have a little talk with Father."

Whis's thoughts drifted — back to something Gran had said earlier.

A book chronicling the history of the Saiyans…

In the depths of his memory, something stirred.

He faintly remembered his father once mentioning a Saiyan who had challenged even Zeno, the Omni-King himself.

But the memory was so vague, so buried in time, that he couldn't be sure whether it was truth or illusion.

"Well then…" Whis murmured. "Let's hear what Father has to say about that."

With that, he tapped his staff.

A column of radiant light enveloped him, and in the next instant, Whis soared toward the Zeno Palace — the realm of the Omni-King.
