Chapter 12 - Part 12

Deon and Amina separated as he turned to face Sierra.

"Deon? What the actual fuck!?" Sierra shouted mouth still half open.

"First off, close your mouth before you catch a fly or something." He said trying to diffuse her.

"Boy." She said the vein in her forehead pulsing.

"You right. Uh...this is...uh-"

"Amina." Amina interjected reaching out her hand towards Sierra who looked her off before starting back in on Deon.

"So? Did you clone me or something? Who is this?"

"Like she said, she's Amina. We've been hanging out."

"With a stranger? In Japan? You?"

"Chill on me alright. I told you I can make friends."

"When would you have the time?" Sierra said looking exhausted by the whole situation. "Is this why you've been cancelling your plans with me." She put emphasis on the this. Amina took note but didn't say anything. Instead she locked arms with Deon and hid behind him a little. She figured that would sting a little more than words hcould. The way Sierra's face twisted told her she was spot on. She smirked from her new hiding spot.

"So this is her? The other girl you love?" Amina asked Deon.

"I mean. It's complicated."

"I complicate it for me."

"We go way back."

"Mhm."

"She's married."

"I see."

"To my best friend."

"Spicy."

"The end."

Amina gave a small clap. "Fantastic story. Why is she here?"

"That, I don't know." Deon said with a shrug.

"That's my question!" Sierra barked. "Why is she here."

"Look, this is very entertaining and all but I'm here for one thing and one thing only-" she let her gaze drifting to Deon. "Him. It took a lot of courage and the prize of an international ticket, so I'm standing here telling you, I'm getting what I came for." She said taking his hand.

Deon's heart skipped a beat. He tried not to let the joy show in his face. No one had ever been this direct about wanting him. And her Amina was declaring it to another person no less.

Sierra was taken aback for a moment by the declaration. But only for a moment.

"It still begs the question, why you though, right? I can't help but notice the resemblance." She said gesturing between the two of them. "Simple math says he only likes you because he likes me." Sierra said sounding a bit smug.

"Or, hear me out, I'm just a better vibe than you."

"Doubt it. It's clearly your face. Deon! Tell her wassup?"

"Uh...well, I don't really think y'all look that much alike." He said scratching at the back of his head.

"What?" Sierra said mouth dropping open again. Amina's expression mirrored Sierra's.

"Are you for real right now? If she wasn't walking and talking I'd swear someone just put a mirror in front of me." Amina said.

"Yeah but, the beauty mark is on the wrong side."

"What? So you know my face so well that you can spot that one minor detail. Just admit you like me?"

"Dammit Si! Why gotta do this now? Please don't kill my vibe. Besides, when I met her she didn't exactly look like this. So it was definitely the vibe."Deon retorted.

"Rude. And awww." Amina said giving him a nudge.

Sierra's face twitched. She didn't like how he could be so comfortable with another woman right in front of her. She didn't like that she didn't like it.

"Si," Deon started. "It feels weird to say it this way or whatever, but I'm sorry you had to find out like this? Hand to god I didn't see the resemblance until y'all were standing in the same room." He said.

Sierra raised an eyebrow.

"Okay...maybe I noticed it when she showed up to our first date looking like....damn. But before that it was just her energy. Can you blame me for liking her? I could finally have my cake and eat it too." He continued.

He caught Amina out of the corner of his eye. She had a deep blush going up to her ears. She could dish it out but she can't take it.

Sierra sighed. "That's why I came Deon. To-"

"To what? Make a spectacle." He waved his hands around. Other hotel guests had come into the halls to see the commotion. They'd just become Okinawa's main attraction.

Now that he brought it to her attention Sierra suddenly felt more self conscious. She hid her face in her hands. An embarrassed blush reaching up to her ear now as well.

"Damn. It seems kinda obvious now." Deon mumbled to himself.

"Doesn't it." Amina said letting go of his hand and picking up her bag. She held out her hand towards him. "Key please." He handed it over and she twirled around with a thanks and opened up the door. "You coming or..."

"Yeah. I'm right behind you. Sierra?"

Sierra looked around before hurrying into the room along with Amina.

Deon took a deep breath in the doorway.

"What the fuck am I doing?" He asked as the door closed behind him leaving nothing behind except the hushed whispers of the other guests.
