After the incident,we had to change our meeting place to the flower bed which I dreaded as she said it was the same place she was bitten fifteen years ago. Even though,she kept telling me they were no snakes anymore as it was constantly being sprayed with pesticide after the incident, I still wasn't convinced and her words of consolation didn't subdue my fear one bit.
" Why was she outside that night?",I asked," Well,she was just trying to confirm your tales", she replied," Did she?", I asked," No,I tired talking to her but she couldn't hear or see me. She doesn't have the ability to see ghost,so that's that",she said and sighed sadly," It still hurts that she can't see me or hear me", she added," But I thought ghost weren't suppose to feel anything" ,I said but she didn't reply.
The wind blew gently through the grasses causing them to sway and make a rustling sound as they did. I jolted but relaxed when I realized it was just the wind," Very funny,wind", I said to the wind in my mind. " It's okay, it's not my Mum",she said jokingly when I jolted and chuckled and I found myself giggling. The incident that happened that night was still fresh in my mind.
The night wore on and we gazed at the sky which was cloudy, covering the stars from view. The clouds floated slowly and lazily across the vast dark sky. The wind continued playing with the grasses and leaves on the tree branches. The wind caresses my face and I inhaled it deeply and it seemed to calm my nerves and fill me with unprecedented peace.
" Emily!, Emily!!",some one called my name but I was enjoying my relaxation that I didn't care to respond until the call came louder and more persistent than before," Emily,get up",the voice came again and I lazily sat up," What?",I asked as I got up not knowing when I fell asleep but didn't care either as I was annoyed that my sweet sleep had been interrupted and it better be for a good reason.
I looked around but saw no one . I was still in the flower bed but they was no sign of Oliver. The sky had began to light up from the lazy rays of the early morning sun . Then it dawned on me," Oh my God! I had slept outside all night" I said in my head as my eyes widened in realization. Without any further hesitation,I raced back to the hostel as fast as my legs could carry me before someone woke up and found me outside the hostel so early in the morning . When I got there ,I slowly tip toed into the room and was greatly relieved to find everyone still sleeping soundly on their beds. I breathed in relief as I had just narrowly dodged a bullet. " I was in luck", I reasoned as I laid on my bed to sleep some more.
