My lips curled.
"I'll take that secret to my grave."
"Thank you." He touched his heart dramatically and then disappeared down the hall.
I stepped into the mansion.
It felt heavier now.
deep down… I knew today was the last day anything would be simple.
Because now I had pieces of a puzzle I wasn't supposed to touch.
And once I had pieces…
I needed the whole picture.
The second I stepped into the house, the air shifted.ir felt Heavy and Stiff. Too quiet to be normal. Eva and Milo barely had time to say goodbye before the front door shut behind me.
And then I saw him.
Alex.
Standing at the end of the hallway like he'd been carved out of some ancient rock . Arms folded. Eyes locked on me with that dark, silent fury that always made my stomach twist.
I walked toward him, heartbeat stuttering.
He didn't move.
He didn't blink.
He just said, quiet and sharp:
"Inside. My office."
My breath hitched.
I followed.
The moment the door closed behind me, he turned.
