Finally, he exhaled slowly. He pressed his face against the back of her shoulder, inhaled her scent, and forced his body to remain still. She was asleep.
His thoughts swirled with all the dirty things he wanted to do to her—filthy, hungry, primal urges that clawed at the edges of his control. Would she let him? Would she want him?
He moved against her ass, pushing slightly, a low grunt rumbling from deep in his chest. The friction sent a shock of heat through him. He felt the exact moment she woke up, felt the tension ripple through her muscles, felt her heartbeat jump beneath her skin.
"What are you doing?" Sera whispered.
Eric's breath fanned across the back of her neck. "Shhh…I won't hurt you."
"I know."
"I'll never hurt you." Eric said, promising. It was an oath carved into his soul, one a true Alpha took seriously. But she was asking for clarity.
