The evening had brought them closer.
The time they spent eating together at home suddenly increased, and the dining room was no longer cold and indifferent.
The two women, sister-in-law and sister-in-law, appeared to have a very harmonious relationship.
That evening, before dinner time, and even before Xu Jingyi had finished her yoga session, Lin Ruoyan hurried back.
She looked flustered, and after a simple greeting at the door, she went straight upstairs.
Xu Jingyi frowned and got up from the floor, following Lin Ruoyan upstairs.
Lin Ruoyan was in too much of a hurry.
When Xu Jingyi went up, she found that the door to Lin Ruoyan's bedroom hadn't even been closed.
This made her nervous too, so she didn't even knock before opening the door and walking in.
The carpet's sound-absorbing effect was too good.
Lin Ruoyan didn't notice Xu Jingyi coming up at all.
She was currently facing away from the door, changing her clothes.
She took off her shirt, and a sweatshirt was laid out on the bed, freshly taken from the wardrobe.
Her waist was slender, and from behind, you could even faintly see her hip dips.
Xu Jingyi also had a good figure, but it was a different style.
Lin Ruoyan was more slender, with more defined muscle lines.
"Ruoyan," she said, "What's wrong?"
Lin Ruoyan was in the middle of putting on her Sweatshirt when she was startled by the voice behind her.
She quickly hid what she was doing and put the Sweatshirt on, even messing up her usually neat hair.
Xu Jingyi assumed she was shy, embarrassed to be seen like that. She spoke reassuringly, "What are you shy about? We're both women.
You have it, I have it. It's just a glance at your back. Don't worry."
Lin Ruoyan pursed her lips and didn't say anything, swallowing her rebuttal. Finally, she just said she wasn't used to it.
The Sweatshirt was already on, and Lin Ruoyan didn't have time to linger.
Ignoring that the clothes she had taken off were still on the bed, she hastily picked up her phone.
"Sister-in-law, I have something to do, I won't be home for dinner tonight."
She was anxious.
Xu Jingyi was blocking the door, so she instinctively tried to move past her.
But she didn't expect Xu Jingyi to suddenly reach out and pin her against the door frame as she tried to pass.
Their bodies pressed together. "What's so urgent? Tell your Sister-in-law about it."
Xu Jingyi was still wearing her yoga clothes, her waistline clearly visible.
Lin Ruoyan was stunned by the sudden closeness. She hadn't been prepared, and now it was too late to move away.
"It's a small matter, I'll handle it."
Xu Jingyi and Lin Ruoyan were about the same height.
When Xu Jingyi pressed against her, their bodies were close, and the chest that was squeezed by the yoga clothes was now exposed even more obviously.
Lin Ruoyan's vision and sense of touch were strongly assaulted.
She couldn't take it anymore. Clenching her fists, she still propped them on the other person's shoulders, intending to push her away.
"If it's a small matter, why are you in such a hurry?
And why did you specifically come back to change clothes?"
Xu Jingyi narrowed her eyes slightly, subconsciously feeling that something was not right with the other person.
Their relationship had been quite good recently, and they would share information about company matters and her own affairs.
Therefore, today seemed particularly strange.
"It really is just a small matter."
Lin Ruoyan was both anxious and uncomfortable being pinned down by the other person. She quickly exerted force with her arms and escaped from Xu Jingyi's grasp.
"I'm leaving now."
Her figure quickly disappeared at the corner of the stairs. Xu Jingyi's eyebrows furrowed deeper.
She silently pondered the matter and went downstairs to get her phone and make a call.
"Has anything happened recently?"
Her voice was very low, and the volume was also very small.
The person on the other end reported honestly
: "The young lady is still investigating. I'm keeping an eye on it, and as far as I know, she hasn't found anything."
Xu Jingyi's furrowed brow remained unrelaxed. "Anything unusual today?"
The person on the other end paused before replying, "No."
Xu Jingyi couldn't press the matter further. She forced down the strange feeling in her heart and, after a few more reminders to keep a close watch, hung up.
Her worry might not even be about this matter, perhaps it was about company affairs or something else.
Changing into a Sweatshirt probably wasn't for a formal occasion.
Lost in thought, she didn't even eat dinner in the end.
Meanwhile, after leaving, Lin Ruoyan got into a car and changed vehicles mid-journey before heading to her destination.
The destination was an old residential complex. Inside a room, a woman was surrounded by people.
When Lin Ruoyan arrived, the leader approached.
"Miss, it's her."
The woman was probably frightened.
She was huddled in the sofa, and when she saw Lin Ruoyan come in, she lowered her head in fear, shivering.
"Hmm." Lin Ruoyan spoke calmly, standing in the room.
She didn't want to sit down, given the somewhat dilapidated environment.
The man who had greeted her grunted in agreement, but his attitude changed noticeably after turning around. "Behave yourself. Answer all questions truthfully."
Lin Ruoyan asked, "Who told you to do this?"
The woman was stunned and immediately started yelling, her voice sharp and piercing, "I don't know! I don't know anything!
Nobody told me to do anything!"
Lin Ruoyan frowned, annoyed by her noise.
The man standing beside the woman saw this and slapped her across the face without hesitation, his voice cold and devoid of warmth.
"Why are you screaming like a banshee?"
The woman's head tilted to the side from the slap, and she immediately quieted down.
Her mouth quickly swelled, but she still mumbled, "I really don't know. I didn't do anything.
" She felt that her words were useless, then mustered her courage and said, "I'm telling you, this is a society ruled by law.
Murderers have to pay with their lives."
Lin Ruoyan snorted coldly, "You know what you've done.
You just need to answer one question."
