(Third Person POV)
Vaelor was holding Daella's hand as they reached his dragon, Shrykos, "Come now." He said with a smile, "Look at my beautiful dragon."
The white beast was laying down, having smelled Vaelor's scent, and slowly raised his head up. The moment it did this, Daella let out a faint whimper, completely out of fear.
"V-Vaelor...." She said softly
Vaelor chuckled, "Don't worry about a thing." He said as he held out his hand, "My Shrykos is a kind one."
The dragon blinked slowly and reached his head to Vaelor's hand, nudging him. It let out a rumble as it snorted, looking right at him with his pale blue eyes.
"I...." Daella said as she hid behind Vaelor, "I do not know about this."
Vaelor grabbed her hand and extended it outwards, "Gently." He said, "Just touch his snout, it's a wonderful feeling."
"Shrykos, calm." He commanded in High-Valyrian
Shrykos simply blinked as Daella whimpered; her entire body was trembling in fear. Vaelor was smiling as he had Daella touch the dragon's snout, and the girl let out another whimper. Shrykos didn't seem to react to his, simply staring right at the Princess.
Daella was surprised by this, feeling the warmth of the dragon as she had her hand on his snout. She then rubbed it with her thumb as she stepped forward out of instinct.
"Oh...." Daella said softly as Vaelor chuckled
"See...?" Vaelor asked with a smirk, "It's not too bad."
Daella pulled her hand away slowly, "I suppose so."
Vaelor grabbed her hand again and pulled her along as he walked to the side of the dragon, which it understood that his rider wanted to take to the skies, and straightened up and lowered itself down.
"Come." Vaelor said as he gestured at Daella to climb up
"H-How....?" Daella said with a frown, "Vaelor, I am scared. What if I fall?"
Vaelor shook his head, "You won't." He said, "Just climb up and sit on the saddle. I'll hold you tightly, don't worry."
Daella looked at the dragon's body, a bit hesitant about climbing on it. She then gulped and slowly climbed the dragon, which she found to be an odd feeling, considering that the dragon's warmth was felt under her feet.
As she climbed up and sat on the saddle and adjusting herself for comfort, Vaelor quickly climbed up and sat behind her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and held her firmly as he grabbed the reins with his other hand.
"You ready?" He asked his sister
Daella grabbed his arm tightly, "N-No..."
"Don't be so nervous, sister." Vaelor chuckled, "You're going to insult Shrykos, who can feel it. He is quite intelligent; he knows that you don't trust him."
Daella looked flustered, "I....I am sorry, Shrykos...." She said, "I've never done this before.....n-not even Father has taken me atop Vermithor....and Mother never persisted in taking me on Silverwing."
"Ah, don't worry." Vaelor said
"Hey!" Alyssa's voice was heard
They turned to see Meleys crawling out of the entrance of the Dragonpit with their sister atop the red dragon.
"Sister!" Vaelor smiled, "Are you ready?"
"Oh yes!" Alyssa smirked, "I'll race you to Dragonstone!"
Without wasting time, Meleys took flight, launching herself into the air and flapping her wings. In a matter of seconds, the red dragon was already high above and flying away.
"She underestimates Shrykos!" Vaelor said, "Hang on tight, Daella!!"
"Ehhh???" Daella said with a scared whimper
"Fly, Shrykos!" Vaelor commanded
The white dragon immediately took a few steps to get momentum and launched itself into the sky, flapping his large white wings. Similar to Meleys, Shrykos was high in the air in a matter of seconds, the wind hitting both Vaelor and Daella in the face.
Daella curled herself back against Vaelor, clutching his arm as he was holding her firmly, "V-Vaelooor!!!" She cried out in fear, "T-Too fast!!!"
"Well, it's a race." Vaelor smirked
"I don't like it!" Daella said as her eyes were shut
"Worry not!" Vaelor said, "We'll beat Meleys."
"And then we'll take it slow."
*****************
"You see, Sister?" Vaelor asked as he leaned his chin on her shoulder, a smile on his face, "The sight of the sea below is quite beautiful, eh?"
He had his arm firmly around Daella's waist as the girl still clutched onto it tightly, not wanting to let go.
"It.....is....." Daella said as she was looking down
It was around an hour later, after Shrykos was able to beat Meleys in a race to Dragonstone. Alyssa decided to land on the island and speak to their eldest brother, Aemon, who was residing there. Vaelor made a quick stop to get some water but immediately took the skies again.
Now, Shrykos was slowly gliding above in the skies, a few miles away from Dragonstone. Daella Targaryen was barely taking in the beautiful sight of the sea below them. Shrykos's song was heard quite clearly as the dragon shook its head, flapping his wings to push forward.
Vaelor chuckled, "This is what being a Dragonrider is like." He said, "I love it, Daella. It is a joy in my life. I don't understand how my brother cannot be interested in this."
"Vaegon?" Daella asked
Vaelor nodded, "He's my twin. We are a single soul in two bodies, that is how close I wish to be with him." He said with a serious expression, "But it is as if the foul and good things of said soul were separated at birth. I do not understand why he is like that. I have tried my best to convince him to be better...."
"Vaelor...." Daella looked at him
Vaelor then smiled, "But I love this." He said, "To ride atop a dragon. Our birthright.....it is a wonderful experience, can you not see this?"
Daella nodded as some hair got on her face, "Y-Yes...."
Vaelor moved some of the hair away as he looked at her, "My sweet sister, Daella." He said, "You can be quite something, I admit. But I never once looked at you in the way Vaegon did."
Daella blushed slightly, "Eh?"
"You are like a beautiful flower from the Gardens." He said with a smile, "Perfect the way you are. I will not stop loving you, sister. I give you my word that you'll never receive such insults from me or from anyone else again. For now....."
"Let us enjoy this special moment."
