(Vaelor's POV)
"This is quite nice, isn't it?" I asked Daella as we were in the skies, flying atop Shrykos
I heard the calls of Meleys and Vhagar in the distance, seeing the massive dragon up ahead. Despite being quite far, Vhagar was an imposing sight and it was something I couldn't get used to. If she was this big, I cannot imagine how Balerion would look. But the old boy was too sick to even move, poor guy.
I felt Daella wrap her arms tightly around my waist from behind, "It is a nice feeling...." She said softly, "Vaelor....."
"Why did you want to sit behind me?" I asked her as I looked behind me, seeing her lean her head against my back, "Hm?"
"No reason...." She said softly, "It could be more comfortable this way."
"Yea....." I said with a nod, "If you say so."
I felt Shrykos let out a rumble as he flapped his wings, still soaring through the clouds. It was quite an amazing feeling, hitting some clouds and getting some of them to hit us. Not many men can say that they know what clouds feel like.
"Vaelor....." I heard Daella say softly
"Yes?" I asked
"You.....are getting married....." She said
I nodded, "I am."
"Do you like her....? Lady Ellyn?" She asked me
I stayed quiet for a couple of seconds, "I mean, I don't hate her, if that is what you are asking...." I said as I adjusted the reins in my hands, "She seems nice. There is not a hint of ambition in her eyes, she seems rather genuine in her desire to please me and our Parents with this marriage. Or at least, that is what it looks like. Why do you ask?"
"I see....." She said softly
"What is it?" I asked, "Is something bothering you? I can tell when something is bothering you, sister. Is it-....hm.....How can I be so foolish? Of course it is this..."
She embraced me tightly, "I do not want to marry an old man." She said suddenly, "I do not want that."
"You won't." I said seriously, "I will tell Father to match you with someone young and kind. A young lord who will know his place."
"I don't want anyone like that...." She said softly
"Sister, we are both young. Even if you're betrothed, it won't be until much later that you marry." I tried to comfort her with my words, "There is no need to worry. T-This...this is just the way things are."
"I don't like it." She said as her embrace got even tighter, "I don't like it at all, Vaelor."
I sighed, "I know....." I said, "I know, Daella."
"No...." She said, "You do not know...my feelings...."
I gently grabbed her arm, "Do not say that." I said, "I know this is not something that either of us wanted, Daella.....I know that much."
"But you are willing to go with it....." She told me
"I have no choice. None of us do...." I told her
"Mayhaps....." She said, "But I still will not be happy. Is that not what you want for me? To be happy."
"Of course." I told her, "Of course that is what I want."
"It is what I always wanted."
**************
After arriving at Dragonstone, Baelon was stretching as Alyssa was lightly tapping him in the butt with her foot.
"What are you doing?" Baelon raised an eyebrow
"Mmmhmm...." Alyssa smirked, "You looking quite good, Baelon. How about we go inside and have some alone time?"
"Inside Aemon's empty castle?" Baelon raised an eyebrow, "I mean....."
"He won't mind." Alyssa grabbed his hand, "Let's go. Vaelor, Daella, the two of you wait here."
I sat down on a stone bench, "Alright."
I noticed that Alyssa gave Daella a look and gestured at me. It was as if she was giving her a message secretly. But it wasn't so secret, since I saw it. However, I didn't know what exactly the message could be, so it might still be secret.
Daella sat next to me, "Lady Ellyn seems nice...." she said, "Does she not?"
I nodded, "Yea." I said, "That is what I said."
I noticed that she was fidgeting with her fingers, occasionally gripping her dress as she looked down nervously. This was rather usual for my sister, for her to be quite awkward and nervous. It never bothered me, but there was something about this specifically that gave me a strange and uneasy feeling.
"Brother...." She said, "I am sorry if I had insulted you and your betrothed....by....doing this....by accompanying you on your flight..."
I frowned, "No, Daella." I said, "You did no such thing. You are my beloved sister, I will always be happy to take you along for a ride. Don't you dare forget that. I care deeply for you."
"And I care deeply for you as well..." She looked at me, "M-My feelings.....they may be wrong.....but they are real....."
"Your feelings?" I said
She leaned in closer to me and before I could react, she had kissed my lips briefly, immediately pulling away as she looked at me with widened eyes.
I blinked, "Oh....."
Her entire face got completely red as tears slowly formed in her eyes, "I....." She said as she immediately turned away and covered her face, "I am sorry!!"
I was a bit stunned by this action, never once expecting something like this.
"Daella...." I said as I gently rubbed my lips, "W-What.....why did you do this....?"
She was trembling slightly, "I love you..."
Oh. This was a confession.
"I....see..." I said as I sat there, still stunned, "Daella....."
I leaned in closer to her and slowly moved her hands away from her face, seeing how red it still was. I then tucked some hair behind her ear and leaned in, kissing her cheek gently.
"O-Oh...." She shuddered slightly with nervousness, "V-Vaelor....."
I patted her shoulder and gave her a smile, "So you love me, huh?" I said, "In that way, it seems...."
She looked at me, "Y-Yes...."
"I see....." I said as I kissed her forehead, "It is okay, don't worry about a thing."
"It is not wrong to have these feelings."
